My suggestion is you watch french movies and tv series. It is better that way since you see how they act and what their normal gestures are. When I was learning English, I did the same thing and I find it effective.

Yeah, Thanks for the idea. I'm also going to use this method. Some friends also told me this way is good so I'm gonna try it. Thanks.

It's nice to know that you are interested in the French language. I too have an interest but it's not that much at all. My evernote application on my ipad is teaching me how to speak French and in fact it has some quizzes. I don't study them though as i just couldn't find the time to do that.
Anyway, i think the best way is to find someone you can correspond with and who can teach you in this language. There are a lot of helpful sites on the net that can help you too. Good luck.

Hi GraceChen, welcome to myLot.
I can't offer any advice as to the French Learning club or something.
Search a myLot user called topffer. He is a resident French. May be he can give you a pointer or two about the language.
The best way to learn other language than your own is to practice practice and practice. Like other responder mentioned, get some French movie, you can either watch them online or download them. Good Luck.

I am studying language and communication in University.
Well, I think it has to do with second language acquisition. Well, I'm not going to say much about what the linguists and language learning scholars said, theories and all that. I'm going to make it brief and easier for you to understand.
In order to learn French, First, I would recommend you to have a French dictionary which you can get online and a French language guidebook. This is important as learning any language has to do with conveying meaningful messages through that language. So you need learn some content words. Content words are meaningful words by themselves. they can be nouns and adjectives.
After that, you go on with function words which are words that has particular function in a sentence. They can be conjunction, preposition etc.
At the same time, you can increase exposure to French language. This can be done through watching movies in French with subtitles, reading french materials and listening to French songs. this will expose you to the general use of french in real time communication either spoken, written and literature.
When you think you have learned some words and had adequate expose, then only you engage with online French learning community or anyone around you that can speak French. This is social interaction and it is crucial to improve you French. Of course, if you can have a friend or two to learn the language together with you, it would further increase your exposure.
To conclude, social interaction or meaningful communication is the most significant way of mastering your French. However, you must improve your French lexicon or vocabulary and basic grammar rules before you can engage in such interaction. Of course, learning the language outside of critical age period(above 12 years old) is definitely slower, but be patient and you will master that language one day.
