I really hate how the system for registration in India works

I will try to help you in whichever way I know how. OK, that is ridiculous. 4 Months for Birth Registration, that is not right. It tool about 2-4 weeks. The hospital where you gave birth should be able to tell you which office you need to go to. When I had my daughter, the hospital told me the address of the Registrar and told me to go there after 2 weeks. Don't ask me about 2 weeks, noone can tell me why it took 2 weeks to bring the papers to an office 5 kilometers from the hospital. From then, they told me to go to Municipal Office where I pay the fees and ultimately collect the Birth Certificate. Second, you cannot register with your country's embassy directly without the local birth certificate, well,at least not with the British Embassy. They asked for Local Birth Certificate. You can apply for the Birth Certificate and the Passport at the same time, that will save a bit of time. Again, I am talking about my experience with British Embassy. Your embassy may have different rule. OK, deep breath, calm down and if you have any question, I will try my best to answer them. I am sorry you have a bad experience with our country.

It happens only in India. Every certificates take more than one months in India due to corrupted system. Your hubby was informed right but usually it does not take that too much time. As far the issue of birth certificate is concern, it should not take more than a week. But it takes a long period for said corruption. You have three ways now.... 1. search a native mylotter/friend who is so close to that office/hospital. 2. offer some bribe to the officers 3. Come here to my province, i will take only three days for the certificate. ( if its possible from your side) have a nice time and so sorry that a foreigner is in trouble in my land. take care.
