I will suggest you to use a software known as "Instant lock" or ilock. It works great, i do use it many times when i need to secure my files. You can download it from here : http://instantlock.net/download.asp

@asliah, I've found a freeware name as "Lockdir" and work pretty well! It protect directories! So create a folder and transfer file which you want to protect! While running software, be sure to select "protect other" you'll be able to select that directory and enter password! It can also protect USB drive/stick on same manner and you can unprotect those file using that stick via another computer. Make sure you remember password! I hope this help?

You can try to put a password in your files when you create them. I'm not sure if you can apply a password to the whole folder, but what I do is when I create a file, a Word file for example, I put a password for it so no one but me can open it.

First, we need to know the OS of your PC. If you have the ability to spend some dime, I suggest Folder Lock, but you can also download the trial version if you wanna try it first. If you want a free utility, then I suggest TrueCrypt. It can secure not just files or folders, but entire drives as well, it may require some learning curve, but it will be worth it if you're really "paranoid" about securing your files.
