The wax thing...

Okay, so i decided not to shave anymore.
Mom decided we will try waxing instead. I must have been out of my freaking mind.
Brave as i am, we went to buy those cruel wax strips. I mean really, the poor things look so innocent, but they can hurt like hell, i tell you.
So, i followed the instructions, doesn't look that bad. YEAH RIGHT!
A bit of advice, never let mom help you wax, anything.
So, i applied the strip and made sure it was warm enough. As i waited for it to really get all those little hairs i read the pamphlet.
What does mom do?
Come past me and rip that damn thing of my leg.
I tell you people, i nearly fainted. I never knew it could hurt that much.
I know a lot of people wax and are use to it, but one thing i know, i don't think i will get use to this.
I must be freaking mad doing this damn wax thing.

Don't worry, Saphrina. Every girl goes through this at least once. Some get used to the pain and continue waxing, others search for other solutions.
Here's a link for you vandana: http://www.braun.com/us/silk-epil-epilators.html
I couldn't explain better then they do.

When you waxed, did it get all the hairs or did you still have to shave? I have heard that waxing will still leave hairs unless you keep going over the same spot multiple times, which is not advisable and hurts more. They say as you keep waxing, though, over time it does get easier and eventually will get all (or at least almost all) of the hairs each time.

That sounds like far too much pain and hassle for me. I subscribe to the firm belief that "beauty" should not be painful, and I refuse to waiver from this position, especially when I am the one that would have to be enduring the pain.

Well, I don't know how people see this subject over there but I will always remember how bad I felt when I was about 14 and went to a camp at the seaside. The few hairs I had on my legs seemed a blasphemy in the other girl's eyes. I think I was a little to childish for my age (or they were too mature for 14) because at that time I had never thought about removing that hair.
I think in my people's mentality, it is normal for women to suffer for beauty. We even have an old saying "old ladies must suffer for beauty".

Nope, I never liked wax or wax strips.
Tell you what, I've been using those Veet cream, I love them. No more pain, and I swear the hairs are getting less in number. I highly recommend the products. The other day, I thought I'd try out the Fem Hair removal cream, not as nice as Veet. I'm sticking to Veet.
Oh....a little secret, Mom or no mom, those wax strips are going to hurt anyway, even if you strip them yourself.

Hi sweetie.
I tried veet for sensitive skin, but for some obscure reason it doesn't work with me.
So waxing is in now.
I screamed like a freaking horror movie star when i stripped them myself, imagine what it sounded like when mom did it.

Lordy...Lordy...HAVE YOU NOT heard of liquid anesthetic? Comes in clear liquids...like Vodka...Amberliquids like Scotch and Whiskey..EVEN purple like moonshine! EAsily purchased...no perscription needed! Easily administered...shot glass or glurg..no needles necessary! Promise you will completely EASE the pain! Can be applied topically..too, ingest by osmosis! Truly versatile products..not horribly expensive!
Do you have hidden masochistic tendencies...saphy? Why so much torture?
Time lapse.....INTERNET was down for 5 days! Winds huffed and puffed 'til they nearly blew my house down!

Gadzooks...PA...Thrilled to hear from you! Yup...my little world got "blown" about...just NOT used to dealing with 100+ mph winds (160khm) to me...brings up a whole new world of worry! Earthquakes are just a normal part of life...but have NEVER felt isolation like these winds! GONE, I hope...but not forgotten...ALL the monied folks, with waterfront took a bath--literally! Glad I'm on a hill and could watch it rush by!
I did use my Generator, but after sharing with the neighbour & my tenant...I either had to choose my two small freezers or internet! Somehow food won out!
I really hope this is not a precursor of things to come! Lotsa firewood...so I can keep the "moonshine" brewing...LOL! Missed ya....LOTZ!

I am glad to see you back, Perga! I was wondering where you were and why I had not seen you around lately. I am glad to hear that it was nothing more than those dad-burn naughty winds whistling and whipping and taking down Internet connections like they own the planet and belong here or something.

Hi, saphy sweetie, I never thought there could be so much technology, stories and emotions behind this wax thing.
bottomline; when you wax you should not have your mom with you, instead let your partner enjoy the whole drama

When you look at the results I am sure you will gradually get used to it. That's what mothers say. One child and no more and slowly you will find them having sometimes 8 or 9 knowing the pain involved.

LOL Me neither. Someone told me a lot of women, American women, let their leg hair grow in the winter because they aren't wearing shorts or short skirts. I'm thinking, a whole winter without shaving your legs? Look, no man is touching my legs, and I won't be wearing shorts, but I'm shaving my legs for me!

I have to laugh, because I am getting to go my second time around today, because I have avoided this torture all my life, but with my busy schedule with school and family, I went too many times with hairy legs, so I figure if I wax, I can take a breather. Now I am not using a store bought product, I did some research and found a homemade wax formula, (don't know what kind of wax these store bought ones use, but mine is primarily sugar) Then I found a box reusable cotton strips online. Now because mine is homemade, I did have to do it a couple times, (with a few days in between for a rest) to get it all,) but I have to admit, after a while it wasn't that bad and I don't have the "bumps" one gets with shaving. My legs were smooth for a long time, so smooth that I didn't realize I had to do it again..lol
So, yeah, it is probably best if no one else "pulled" the strip and if you continue, you might find it isn't as bad as the first time..

Well, since mine is homemade, like I said, it didn't get it all the first time around and if you like, I can PM you the links an tips along with the recipe I use..

Hi sweetie.
I still have about 3 weeks to go, before my next torture session.
I will go and have a looksie online with what you use.
Sounds better than what i am using and they say Veet is suppose to be the best though.
I won't let mom do it again.
Anyway, have fun with the next wax.

If you have such smooth hands, does that mean that you are too "delicate" for manly things?
