I like taking pictures but I am just using my cellphone when I feel doing some photography. I find it convenient since I always carry my cellphone wherever I go so I think it is the best for my lifestyle. I am a fan of having everything in one gadget. But it seems that taking good pictures is better with a digital camera. The one I want is just the usual compact camera so that I don't have it to be bulky when carrying it in my bag like what I am doing with my cellphone. What brand or model should I get that takes nice pictures yet affordable? Suggestions are welcome.

I agree with angelsavie. For me, Sony are the best in compact digital cameras. I had Sony, Canon, and Kodak - all on the same price range and more or less same specs. Sony comes out on top. With Kodak, the pictures were not very good, and with Canon, I've had problems with it since the beginning. Oh, the one I'm using right now is the Canon that I'm talking about. It broke again for the third time and I'm planning to buy another one. This time, I'll buy Sony again.

I though Canon is a good brand. Oh well, sorry about your camera. I think that it is best to invest with a good one than waste money for something you cannot use for a long time. Sometimes we just get carried away with how it looks. I am guilty f that. I go for how cute it looks on me than if it is with a good quality.

Canon is good for DSLR, in my opinion. Not so great with the compact, at least for me. One week into it, I started having problem with the lens. Took it to the Service center, it took them almost a month to sort it out. The same thing happened again, I didn't bother to take it back. Somehow, it became alright again. And again yesterday, when I tried to take some pictures, it won't power on, as in the lens would not come out. I have had it. It is the same problem and the service center didn't seem to fix that. Now it's out of Warranty period and I'm in no way prepared to pay for it to be repaired. Might as well buy the new one.

for me, sony is the best brand for digital cameras based on my experience.. i am a picture addict that's why i bought one.. sony cameras uses carl zeis lens, lens that are really good when it comes to photos.. sony cameras are also slim and stylish so you could carry it anywhere.. if you're looking for a not so expensive camera, try to search on sony W-series.. these are the cheapest series of sony brand.. =)

I guess I will browse for Sony digital cameras. You got me with the word stylish. I really like sleek gadgets but with good features. I will only use it for family or friends gathering or if I am in the mood to take a picture. Photography is not one of my talents so it will not be a good idea for me to buy an expensive brand. =)

Although today the cellphone camera improved and it can take nice photos. However, I still think that the photo result can't compare to the digital camera. It is still necessary to have the digital camera. Lately my sister-in-law bought a nice DSLR and I love it. The focus time is so soon this is quite nice. If I will buy a new digital camera again, I will also buy DSLR. It is professional and I don't mind it is bigger and heavier. I pay attention to the photo quality much more.
I love China
