I have read almost all my books. I was looming at the Kindles and they are pretty reasonable but I'm broke so I can't get one. I just put a free eReader on my iPhone and mow I can read lits of free classics. Im reading Sherlock Holmes right now and it is awesome! Who needs a Kindle when I can read books for free on my phone? I didnt realize I could make my phone into an eReader.
Isn't it amazing what smart phones can do? What all do you do with your smart phone? I play spider solitaire, play a word game, use an etch-a-sketch, play music, read the bible, watch TV and now I read on my iPhone. What do you do with yours?

Pointless, i see my sister who had just bought iPhone recently, seems very attached to it. Indeed, smart phone is very wonderful gadget as compared to the normal hand phone. I even see that my sister had saved quite a lot of money, as she didn't buy much books to read. She seems spending more of her time into reading her favorite stories through iPhone as well. That's the wonder of iPhone, which we should appreciate it.

Oh they are great! My whole life is on my phone... I don't need a camera or video cam, or anything.. my phone is my handheld computer. I can do everything that I can do on my laptop. I'm almost as fast typing on the virtual keyboard as I am touch typing on my laptop.

I have a very basic phone. I can listen to the radio and I can connect to the internet but I don't know how to do that. We have no coverage where I live so my phone is for use if I have an emergency on the road.
If I had a smart phone, I doubt I would be able to utilise all those things you mention...I cannot imagine being in a situation where I would want or need to use those things.

I cannot afford a smartphone, but I do hope to have a kindle someday. As you have demonstrated, people who own smartphones already have more than enough capability and do not need all the other electronic toys. Since phones tend to break and malfunction, you better start saving for your next phone.

Kindles are quite affordable now. I'll not have need sor one as long as I use my phone as an eReader. It's so wonderful. I love the day and night applications.

What I did with my smart phone was trade it in for an older model phone, one that is a little more than "just a phone". I had a smart phone but it was just too confusing to me. I had a few games I played on it but didn't really have much time for the games and, besides, I just want a phone that is a phone. I even have a really nice digital camera so I don't need the camera on my phone but that can't be helped these days. If you want a cell phone, you're going to get a camera.
I still have my smart phone and charge it up every now and then to play the games on it but that's all.
I'm getting a Kindle or a Nook or something for Christmas. My husband won't say what he's getting me but he asked me what I wanted and I said a Kindle. My son just told me he wants to get me a Nook. I told him that he needs to talk with my husband (his stepfather) to talk about this because I sure don't need both! I didn't want any kind of eReader at first because I like holding books in my hands but, when I realized that I could have an entire library at my fingertips, I decided that it might be fun to have one.
How can you read books from such a small screen? I would think it would drive me insane! Well, okay, maybe just give me a headache from eyestrain. Is your phone easy to read?

Hi Mentalward, I understand you just wanting a phone and that's all. My adopted mom is like that too. I save so much money though, it's not funny! I don't need to buy a camera.. I don't need to buy a video camera either, because i have them on my phone. I don't need to buy a kindle, because I have the equivalent of that on my phone. I can do my Weight Watcher stuff on my phone, I can do my research for articles on my phone .. so if I am not near my computer, I use my phone because it IS a handheld computer. It has paid for itself over and over. It works everywhere, not just in certain areas... I used it to keep in touch by email with my friends while I was in NY on vacation. It's just so easy to use. I have the iphone, that is simple to use.. my daughter has an android.. and I have no clue how to use hers. My son in law has a blackberry, and I know how to use it also, because I had it for awhile. I don't have to buy phones, I just take what my daughter hands off to me. I bought this iphone for my daughter and in 3 months she gave it to me because she wanted a different one.. so I will never get rid of this one unless I upgrade to a newer model iphone.

I don't have an e-reader or an I-Phone. I do, however, read some books online. There are numerous titles available. But, I'd much rather have a real, bound book to read. Right now, I've got about three or four started. I've just about filled all of my shelves. I read some of them once a year. Lately, I've been getting some from the library. If I read one that I want to own, I go to Better World Books online and order it at a tremendously reduced price and they always have free shipping. For every book they sell, they donate a book to places that are 'book poor'.

I really do love real books too, but it is getting uncomfortable for me to hold the books when they are large like The Host and some of the other larger books. Oh.. and I run out of places to put them.
I also have many free books too with it... like Alice in Wonderland, Pride & Prejudice, Wizard of Oz, Moby Di.ck, and many more. I just realized how easy it is for me to read.. I can adjust the font to the size that I want. I can also adjust for night or day reading. It's awesome!

Call me old fashioned but I still prefer a solid book in my hands where I can actually turn the pages rather then reading on my IPhone. That being said of course I have no problem using my IPhone for other things such as: listening to music, watching TV, playing a few games, and even going so far as to keep my shopping list on there. Yes my Smartphone has many uses and I don't ever want to be without it.

I just finished reading The Host by Stephenie Meyer. It was over 600 pages I think.. I found that due to the nerve problem I have in my neck, it is hard for me to hold the book open and keep my place. My hands and arms get tired.. mostly my right arm and hand. Now that I can buy and download new books into my eReader in my phone, I can read much easier. I turn the pages by just touching the side of the screen and slightly moving my finger as if really turning the page. It's so light and much easier for me.
I love my real books, but it is getting really hard for me. I love the thick ones... lots of pages... but they are heavy... so this iphone eReader is actually a good thing for me. I can order them and get them right away into my phone.

I don't own an iphone. I think it is really neat that you are able to do that though. I just don't have the time or patience for reading though.

Yeah, smart phones are built with a lot of exciting & useful features. I haven't used an iPhone myself though. I have been more with the Blackberry smart phones for quite some time. For me, staying connected with my work mail & getting those mails the best possible way determined the choice of my business phone, because Blackberry was the first one to come up with push mail technology. Recent models of Blackberry have all the functionality of a smart phone & I'm now looking at upgrading to the Blackberry Torch. I enjoy music, messenger, social media and a few games on my BB.

I have no harm in reading some pages from my iPhone but reading a whole novel from iPhone is eye-straining. I found reading book directly less eye-straining and hence a better option. No doubt, I have to shell out bucks to bye every novel i read and you could simply download it from free.

I don't find it eye straining at all. I have day and night applications so there is no glare or anything. The font size is adjustable so that I dint need to wear reading glasses. I have to wear magnitudes when u read a real book. I don't on my iPhone. The page sizes are fit to the size of the screen. It's perfect for me.

I recently added a few applications on my iPhone. I am not a fan of reading those thick books, simply because I've been doing that in my college years, reading medical books. Now, I'm always on the go and I barely stay at home. So my iPhone is quite helpful. I have a lot of applications where I can read and take answers from anything under the sun.

I ove mine. My whole life is on mine. Since I'm having nerve pain in my right arm and hand I find that my iPhone is perfect for reading. I can also adjust the text size which is great for me. I don't have to wear those thick reading glasses in order to see.
