How soon or long do you upgrade or change your cellphone unit?

Ive had my first cellphone when I was in 3rd year high school. My mom gave her old cellphone, which is Nokia 5110, to me. After 3 years, the phone was damaged so she bought a new one, second hand though, but is still working really good. It was Nokia 1100. much better than the old Nokia 5110. I am not a heavy texter but a phone is really important to me. I used that for a long time till it was stolen from my room during the wedding of my sister. I was so annoyed that time because I left it my room, the place where I consider Im fully secured, but I was intruded. My mom again, gave her phone to me, it was N3200 then, the was the phone that I used for a longest time. i used it throughout college and again, been stolen when I worked in davao city. I was so frustrated then, and purchase my own cellphone, I was a fake and imitation of N6300. and again, was stolen after only a month. and here we go again, I bought a new one, i took N3300 but didnt work long. It was defective and decided again to but N1100 reconditioned. Its 2 years old now, so if this gets defective I will buy a new one, probably better one. It really takes a long time before I replace my cellphone. if I have the choice, I will always be contented with what I have. I will just replace it when its defective, lost or stolen. Sometimes, I envy those people who keep moving from one model to another. Well they have much money that allows their desires.

High Danzy I am with you...I just don't have a need or desire to constantly change a phone...I only need it to make a call every now and then..not to have a long drawn our conversation on it.. I think the cell phone have become so powerful for other, but its only a way of communication for me, and thats all i need to do with it.

I don't think its wise on changing mobile phone's frequently. Its waste of money truly. Only people who really don't know what to do with money change phone's frequently. According to usage and application we can change the model that is depending one the exact requirement. Its as if buying a dress because an actor or actress wore it without knowing if it really suits us.

It differs from person to person. Every individual has personal preferences, in our case, we choose those that are not so expensive and the pattern of our purchase support the same reason. Other people's buying behavior includes purchasing power. If theyre willing and are able to buy it, then the economic equation is complete.

I try not to replace my phone too often... Unfortunately, I'm a bit harsh on phones & I end up replacing them more than I really care to... I got my first cell phone when I turned 18, which was about 22 years ago... I lost count after 25 different cell phones... Of course some of them are work related... Few years back, I changed positions in my work & I needed a smart phone so I went through 2 different versions of blackberry, 8120 & 9700... Now I have an old motorola phone...

Nowadays money is tight, I have 2 little girls and should be saving a lot for them, I can only replace my old cellphone after using it for 2 years. My husband ask me not to change mine before 2 years. When I was in college and my dad still work in a good place, I can change my cellphone every year or 10 months.

So you really set a fixed span of time before you change your phone. What if the phones gets dysfunctional along the way, does it mean you have to wait for the time for you to replace it? I asked this cause im thinking you might have a "budgetary" cycle for things. Well anyway, can you tell us what is the brand of your cellphone that you are using?

Like you, I usually don't bother if my cellphone is old or new. In fact, I really don't use my cellphone much. Before I use it very often but since I started working, I use it less and less and only for important calls and messages. I also don't want to hear my phone ringing. I know it will either be a trouble in work or my boss trying to pressure me out! As for the history of my cellphone switches and developments, I first used a Nokia cellphone which is among the first to be a hit here in our country. It was just handed down to me by my siblings. I just replaced it because its back light has been dysfunctional and the screen has some problems already. But it is not due to my negligence. I guess, it is because it is already old. Then I switch to a new one. In fact I had many cellphone switches because my brothers and sister have different cellphones and I always just scavenge what they leave about. My next drastic change in cellphone was around last year when I lost it. Please note that it was lost and not stolen because I am sure to be wary of my surroundings and things. I lost and really didn't have problems replacing it as there are a lot of spare cellphones in the house. I really don't care if they are already outdated or not, I just need a cellphone which I can use for messaging and calling. That's just about it. Now I have my cellphone for over a year already and I have no plans of replacing it until I exhaust its life span!

Hi AgentGulaman (sounds like you're a Filipino huh? Let me check your profile in a while =)) If I am not mistaken, most of the cellphones that we have in our country or used by most Filipinos is the Nokia Brand. There are alot others but those were not as friendly as Nokia in terms of ease of usage. Nokia phones have alot but very simple features and so easy to navigate. Most Filipinos, from my own point of view, are thrifty. Right at the store, when theyre about to pick a unit, they think of first the price, second the durability 3rd its features. I have a question. Do you agree with me that Nokia phones are durable?

hahaha! and a poor phone too^.. Poor budget so is the Phone. just like the others who responded on my topic, I really dont spend much on my cellphone. as long as it could call for a straight 3 hours and can stand by for 72 hours or more. You this was the question that I always ask from the stores that Ive checked. No good answer, then to next to store :))

I don't like to change my phone every time if possible...My first phone was Nokia1100, a friend left it in the bank..next is Nokia too with cam, husband of my friend stole it. I love that phone and I felt bad that it was stolen.....I have BB9000 now and I don't have any plan to replace it... Honestly, I like Nokia not the latest one..Having a camera and video is already enough for me.

We have the same attitude. I keep using a cellphone as long as it is serviceable. But that is not because im sentimental, I just dont have much money to buy every now and then. :))
