I recently learned a trick for getting out deep set splinters. You soak the area in Epson salts and the splinter will come to the surface. Have you got any tips for getting out spliners?

I have always wondered if there was any really effective way to get a splinter out of your hand or whatever area it may be. I may have to try the epson salts next time I get a splinter because for me I have always just tried to use tweezers or something like that. It hardly ever works and it hurts. Maybe your way will work for me well next time I get one!

Give it a try I was really impressed. Let it soak for about 10 minutes.

Good tip! I'll try that next time I get a deep splinter. Luckily I haven't had one in years. Most I easily get out with tweezers.

I am usually pretty good at it too, or I use a safety pin and tweezers, but that one just wasn't going to come out with out me ripping my skin apart so I am glad the Epson Salt worked.

Use duct tape to pull the splinter, or spread white school glue over it and let it dry. It will pull it right out. I also learned when my child fell on a cactus plant that a peel off facial masque will not only pull the thorns or splinters it may soothe irritation caused by the thorns or splinters.

Very clever. I bought a vegetable packet with fresh produce in it that was on the way to going bad but still good if you cook them that night. It had some cactus in it and without thinking I grabbed one with my hands, I had little things in my hand that I couldn't even see but I could feel, it was very uncomfortable, so if I ever do that again I will be sure to use a facial mask to get them out.

First I Wash and dry the spot with soap and water. Make a paste using water and about 1/4 teaspoon of baking soda. Put this paste on a bandage and apply the bandage to the affected area. After 24 hours, remove the bandage. The splinter may be sticking out of the skin. If it's visible, pick it off with tweezers. Rinse the skin gently (if the splinter is sticking out but not visible, this may wash it away). Repeat the method with new paste and another bandage every 24 hours until the splinter is gone. If the splinter is extremely painful, rub a bit of Baby Orajel around the affected area and wait a few minutes before trying to remove the splinter. The Baby Orajel will numb the area. Once you wait a few minutes, wash the area with soap and water. Then proceed as you need to.

I don't know what epson salt is but we soak it in hot/warm water with soda in it. It comes out without any infections. Same with infections, you keep the wound in it for a few minutes. It's also used by women after giving birth (you sit in a tub with soda in it). There is also a washingpowder we use to wash dirty wash first.. it's called: biotex. But I never used that.

By soda do you mean bakig soda or soda that you drink? Epson salts are salt crystals that people usually buy to soak their sore feet in, but they are also used to make bath salts.

Well, you could always cut off your finger, but that seems a little extreme! I'm just kidding. I don't really have any tips. When I get a splinter my husband usually pulls it out with a needle. He is really careful and I don't even feel it. I like the Epson salt idea! That is even easier.
