If you won a free trip to Africa and you had the chance to visit any country or countries that you wanted, where would you go and why?
There are many African countries that I would like to visit for instanse Kenya, Tanzania, Ghana, South Africa, Namibia and Botswana. In Denmark I met foreigners from Kenya, Ghana and South Africa, and they have all told me about their countries.
I was when I living in Scotland I met a British woman who used to live in Botswana. She told me about her life there and she showed me her pictures. Our conversations made me interested in visiting Botswana one day.

If it doesn't have political conflicts, I would have chosed Egypt because of its rich and mystical history but its currently unsafe. I may consider Kenya because of their rich culture and Safari but in the end I will go with South Africa. I already seen so much poverty in my country and I had enough, so South Africa will be the best choice because its progressing. It still have the rich African culture but with less depression for my eyes to see since its actually a country with a better economy than my country.

Egypt is also one of the countries that I have thought about visiting, because I think that it could be very interesting, but unfortuneately it is not one of safest countries to visit. Right now it is not one of countries on my travel wish list, but if the situation changes I would be interested in visiting Egypt. My ex-boyfriend has been there and he talked a lot about his trip. He really enjoyed his visit there and he thought that it was a very fascinationg country. South Africa is also on the list of countries that I want to visit. I would like to see some of the places that my ex-boyfriend has told me about (he was living in Denmark when we met, but he is from South Africa)

You have a good point mr captain :D Egypt is indeed a very interesting country to be visited, specially for its magnificent culture that was a mark in the old days, and also to see the famous piramids would be a sight never to be forgotten! :D
But, for the same reason you said, i would also chose south africa, for its stability, i think no one in sane mind is up to travel to a country with many conflits :P

I'd like to visit Kenya, Ehtiopia, Egypt and believe it or not, the Congo and Nigeria. I worked with people from those two countries. In reality, I've met and worked with people from all the mentioned ones except Kenya.

When you write the Congo, do you mean The democratic republic of the congo (former Zaire) or the other Congo? Ethiopia, Egypt and Kenya are also on the list of countries that I am interested in visiting. I was just thinking this topic tonight - how to plan a trip to Africa. It is pretty hard to do because there are so many countries that I am interested in and it not east for me to choose

I have already visited Tunisia at age 19 years old. Then I went to Kenya in my mid twenties for a safari and the beach. Seven years ago I visited the Seychelles and it has got into my favorites list. I went to Cape Town and the Garden Route two years ago. Cape Town is my second favorite city. I would choose to visit Madagascar to see the lemurs and the beaches.

One of my ex-boyfriends was from Cape Town and he has told me a lot about his country. We never got the chance to go to South Africa together, but I would like to visit South Africa with my husband one day. When I am there I would like to visit Namibia and Botswana, too. It is quite easy for citizens from my country to visit those 3 countries, because we don't need a visa if we want to stay in the country for less than 3 months. Madagascar would also be an interesting place to visit, it is one of the countries on my travel wish list.

It felt so happy and at home whilst in beautiful South Africa. One special thing I did was a walking tour of a township. I was impressed with the Irish charity helping that poor community. Cape Town is stunningly beautiful and I would love to go there again. I hope that you and your husband visit South Africa, Botswana and Namibia. I love it when I don't need a visa. It is lovely you heard much about Cape Town from your ex-boyfriend. One of my friends had her honeymoon in Madagascar.

Well I have never given Africa much thought, so to be honest with you, I don’t really know that much about the region. I have always been interested in Egypt, so I would have to say that Egypt would be my first choice. I have also heard there are some good beaches in South Africa where you can see a lot of Great White sharks if you go out with some of the local charter tours or scientific expeditions, so I would like to go there as well, because I have always been curious about sharks. I would like to go hunting over there if I ever got the chance as well...

I think that Egypt could be an interesting place to visit. My ex-boyfriend visited Egypt before we met and I know that he enjoyed his trip very much. He has told me a lot about his experiences and that inspired me to visit Egypt one day, but so far I have never been to Africa. South Africa is also among the countries that I would like to visit and I am thinking about visiting South Africa, Namibia and Botswana on the same trip, I think that could be very interesting. The planeticket from my country to Africa is quite expensive so when I am there I want to make good use of the time.

I have heard about Nairobi and Mombasa, but it is the first time that I hear about Kisumu. I think that Kenya could be interesting place to visit, it is also on the list of countries that I would like to visit one day. I am thinking about visiting Kenya and Tanzania at the same time, the plane ticket from my country to Africa is expensive, so while I am there I want to make the most of the time and visit more than one place

Tunisia is also among the countries that I want to visit, and I am thinking about visiting Tunisia and Morocco and maybe some of the other countries in Northern Africa at the same time. I heard that Libya changed the rules about tourism. Today it is not possible to visit Libya as an independent traveller, you have to take a group tour. I think that they had some problems with the independent travellers and and because of that they made group trips compulsary. Which places did you visit in Libya?

I'd like to go to Malawi. They recently, on Amazing Race, went there, and it looks like a nice place to visit. The people seemed nice and polite, and it looked scenic, as well. It even had a beachfront. So I guess if I won a free trip to Africa I'd go there. You hear too much spam about South Africa, so I'd like to go somewhere different.

Some of time ago I read a novel that took place in Malawi. Before that that time I didn't know much about the country, but I got interested in it when I read that book. It sounded like an interesting place. If I get the chance to visit Malawi I want to go to the lake, and I would also like to travel around in the country and visit other places like Lilongwe and the national parks. I am interested in invisiting Mozambique as well, so I might combine the two trips if I get the chance to go there.

Hi Procospino,
Once Africa was continent of mystery. It is believed that humans are originated from Africa. I like to visit any country of Africa excepting North African countries and South Africa. Black people's culture, customs, behavior and their way of life attract me. I also like to see the wild life of Africa.

I would also like to see the wildlife in Africa. In my own country we don't have that kind of wildlife and the only place to see African animals is in the zoo. I am sure that it will be a very different experience to see the wildlife in Africa. I am interested in visiting many African countries. One of my classmates has travelled around in Africa and he visited many different countries, I would like to do the same thing.

Hi Porcospino
Outskirts of Sahara for sure. I had a small stay at the Thar Desert here in India way back in early 1990s and it was fabulous. I enjoyed the hot sand during the day and the cold one during the nights. Though it is not as dense as I had expected. So Sahara Desert would be the first place if ever I am allowed there.
Then of course is South Africa. Many above mentioned the wild life and forests, but I am not into those. I would love to see the big hole that they have at South Africa - I think that is known by the name - The Kimberley Diamond Mine
ps: I am scared of heights but still I would love to stand at the cliff here and take a peek

I have friend from France and she once visited the Sahara Desert. She thought it was an amazing experience and she really enjoyed it. I have never visited a desert, and there are no deserts in my country. On one of our islands there is a area called "the desert" but it is not a real desert like Sahara. I would like to visit Sahara and experience life in the desert, because it is something that I have only read about. I have never seen a diamond mine either - only on pictures.

I think African countries are wort visited. They have huge animal wild life. I wanted to see animal in the wild like in the documentary film. I wanted to get contact with the animal. I don't have any idea where to go or visit. I would like to start my journey from South African and I would also want to visit Madasgascar. I have heard the country has beautiful beaches and largest cockroach species in the world.

I think that Madagascar could be a very interesting place to visit. I have read the wildlife is unique, and it could interesting to see the many different kinds of animals.

I think that it could be very interesting to travel around in Africa and visit different parts of the country. In my guidebook about Africa there is mentined a trip from the north to the South. It starts in Tunesia and the travellers visit Libya, Egypt, Sudan, Ethiopia, Kenya, Tanzania, Malawi, Mozambique and they end in South Africa. It is a long trip, but I am sure that it is an interesting experience to visit so many different parts of Africa.

When I read the responses in this discussion I can see that many people share your interest in South Africa, because South Africa has been mentioned many times already. It is one of the countries that I would also like to visit. I am especially interested in visiting Cape Town because that is the place where one of my ex-boyfriends was born and when we were together he told me about his country.

I haven't been to Africa either, but I hope that I will get the chance to visit some of the African countries in the future. There are a lot of different countries that I am interested in visiting. South Africa is one of them. I got interested in the country because I had a boyfriend from Cape Town. We are not together anymore, but I still remember the things that he told me about his country and when I listened to his descriptions I became interested in visiting South Africa one day.

I don't know if Africa caught my interest of visiting. But I might want to go see South Africa, where there wasn't war at all, and I have to assure my personal safety first. Is Egypt part of Africa country too, I would love to go there and see, only under the condition that they are in peace.

Egypt could be an interesting place to visit, but I would have to evaluate the situation in the country before I decide if I want to visit Egypt or not. I think that it could be interesting to see the famous places in Egypt one day. South Africa is also on the list of countries that I would like to visit. I noticed that South Africa has already been mentioned several times in this discussion and it seems to be the most popular African country so far.

I would first visit Liberia because my father is from there and I would want strenghten my family ties. Then I would visit neighboring Ghana. I'm not so sure about South Africa I hear original African people are surpressed there, mentally and socially. Naturally I would want to be around people who believe in themselves. I am definately excited about trying some West African cuisine. The African food I've tasted in America was good a bit spicy though. Shopping, have you seen some of the African movies those women can dress. I'm not talking about the skimpy kind.
As for the comment about Africa having disorganized government, people starving, corruption etc. Get your facts straight. I'm sure your information is second hand. Don't judge. Your country may have underlying issue's as well. The only differnce betwee Africa and other countries is the bigger countries have organized crime so their operations are sophisticated.
Africa offers unique dialects, distinguished art, good food, creative people and a beautiful continent before the greedy invaders got hold of it.

I wasn't the one who wrote the things about disorganized governments, corruption etc. It was Clubnica's response, and in my comment I wrote that it is true that there are or have been problems in some African countries, but I don't believe that you can say those things about the entire continent. There are so many different countries in Africa, and some places are not safe to visit at the moment, but that doesn't mean that we can't visit other places in Africa.
Ghana is also one of the countries that I would like to visit. I am interested in Ghana because I have some friends from Ghana who live in my own country. I would like to visit their country and I also interested in visiting many other African countries. My African friends have told me about their countries and I would love to visit those countries in person.
