I'm doing good

I had a little procedure done today and the doc says I look pretty good in there... I did have a polyp that he removed - he took one out in 2005 too, says I seem to like to grow these things... The people at the surgical center were GREAT! I really liked them. While it was cold in the room, they had this cool... well... warm actually type of gown that is called "Bair paws" that has warm air that blows into bags in the gown. They also numbed my hand before they stuck the IV in it, the numbing hurt but that was it. I'm a little sore now, but at least I didn't have to endure the whole thing without any pain killers. I saw the pictures he snapped and other than that big ugly polyp that he removed, I'm all pretty and pink inside like I'm supposed to be! I know I haven't been posting a lot, and I do have some news, but that's other posts all together! So, just to recap, my "womanly parts" are all good (and I'm not pregnant - yes, they checked!)

Well, that is a big relief. . . that you are not pregnant. I am beginning to get overemployed, and we are going to have to make some choices, but it's all good.Take it easy while you can. I am going to crawl in bed real shortly, and I have a nice warm matress pad that makes it feel so good. I bet that bair paws thing was neat.

Good that you've got that done and that things are now okay. We all must remember to get our check-ups. Mine is overdue.

Mine was about 4 years over due... you can see I'm really worried about these things... until they become a problem... But, actually, I figured everything was basically okay because there's a very low history of that kind of cancer in my family - as I tell folks, I'm going to die of a stroke (hopefully MANY years from now!)

I'm glad your procedure went well for you. I don't think they could do that on me very easily as the last time they were going to do it (before my surgery in January last year) they couldn't clean out my system and it turned out that everything was stuck together down there and my bladder fell to where my uterus had been before the hysterectomy so they admitted me to the hospital two days before the operation to try to give my guts time to clean out. I found out after the surgery that they couldn't repair the fistula (the primary purpose of the operation) so they just put in the colostomy. If the general surgeons would have had their way, they would have taken my bladder and a large part of my intestines both large and small. Fortunately the gyn/onc was there and she said to let her take care of the cancer and go from there. I will probably have my little buddy for the rest of my life. I hope you never have to lose your "womanly parts" because that is the start of problems. Have a great weekend!!!

apparently they thought the roomie D might have a fistula, but what it was was a hernia, that she knew about but didn't BOTHER to TELL anyone about... so she was really sick, spent about a month and a half in the hospital/rehab because of it... You know, I never wanted those womanly parts, and I don't think most people have the problems you've been having.

Glad to hear that all your "womanly parts" are in good shape. I got less than good news for the biopsy I had done recently, but I'll not impose on your post (this time, anyway). I'm interested in that Bair paws gown you mentioned. I've never heard of it.

at 70 my mom was pretty much healthier than I was, I can only hope I'm anywhere near that healthy at 70 myself!

Maybe not that old, around 70 would be a nice age for me if their is a possibility that it will turn out to be "cancer" than it is dangerous if not taken when it is still in it's early stage. Good for you then.

I'm really glad it went so well! I've never heard of those gowns but it's high time someone came out with something like that. I hope this is the end of polyp growth for you but some people tend to produce them more than others. It's good to know that everything else is healthy so keep it that way, ok?

we weren't expecting a problem, I'm just nearly impossible to get into - so the doc and I agree that we aren't going to subject me to trying to do it

Glad to hear you aren't pregnant...that might complicate things a bit with everything else going on. It's good that you had a good experience there too. It means the world when people treat you with decency. Take care.

I would be a miracle if I were pregnant - and I really do mean that - I've done the change and I've never been with a man... so....

I'm glad everything is okay, and that you are not pregnant. The warm gown sounds cool. It is always so cold in doctors offices and hospitals. I have never heard of anything like that, but I hope all hospitals do that soon!

Well, they kind of have to have you in a room, and this is probably part of the perks of going to a dedicated surgical center rather than any old hospital... It would be hard for me to be pregnant... since I'm post-menopausal...
