I want to DO NOTHING

I want to DO NOTHING - Wanting to be unemployed for the moment
Philippines
December 11, 2011 4:11pm CST
Okay, so this may be a bit ironic for everybody. Then again, maybe not. I want to be unemployed for a while. Say, maybe one or two months the most. I want to just do NOTHING. I don't want to get up at a given time and go to someplace and feel required to. For once, I want to just do ANYTHING without thinking I need to rest because I have to go to work later or tomorrow. You see, I am not lazy. I am just bored with my own routine. I need to stop for a while to gather myself. I really want to stop working. That's all.

I have never worked in my life. But I really really wish I had a job so I could earn some extra cash for myself. Been looking for a job for almost 2 years now but I can't seem to find a suitable one, or they'll not call me back coz I have no experience :( It's funny though, what you're trying to run away from is what I am looking for. Wish we could switch places

Hi girl_thinking That is exactly what I felt at times too when I went out on regular work. A time comes when we all start to feel that we are doing all this just because of some forced need and there everything starts to seem so very monotonous and routine like... But hey, you have hit on this at the right time... Christmas and New Year are just a few days ahead and you can take a leave go out to anywhere and have your ideal day or holiday trip. I am sure when you arrive back, the change would work wonders for you

Hi girl_thinking Snowman yes, I changed it today. Already in the Festive mood... but I have no where to go or nothing special. It is all the same for me... at my home... Regarding online earnings! Okay. Let me ask you straight away - do you have any Computer related skill set? Programming or Designing? Or even anything related to writing? These help when you are trying to earn online. Maybe we can share something via PMs... feel free to drop it on my inbox and maybe I can help

Hello thesids! Didn't recognize you at first, I thought a snowman dropped by Anyway, yeah, I guess maybe I am like this because it is Christmas time. You know, it is really fun to spend your time at home during the Holidays. If only I could work online and get a pay that matches my offline salary, that would be great. Oh well, that seems impossible because earning online is just a few dollars. Good day to you!

That is very nice of you thesids! I actually earn through writing, data entry and data mining. I don't know about programming or designing. I am not into technical stuff YET. Someday, I want to learn them I will definitely send you a PM when I run out of projects. I currently have projects from Odesk. Thanks in advance and you have a nice day!

Mmmm, doing nothing, nice. Funny thing is lazy people invented everything. Once we were happy to till the soil by hand, then a lazy man said, why shouldn't I put a wheel on this spade and pull it along, thus was born the plough Then another lazy man said, I'm fed up pulling this plough couldn't an ox or horse pull it for me? Later on a lazy man invented the tractor, car, ship, train, plane, computer, laptop, mobile phone, etc all the best urban

Oh if that's the case, then I want to be called lazy.. Hopefully I could invent something worthy.
• Philippines
12 Dec 11
@girl_thinking: So, have you thought about what to invent yet?
• Philippines
13 Dec 11
I don't know yet. Maybe I will invent a machine that could invent anything.

I've felt that too when everything seems like a routine. You get up early in the morning, work in the office and go home feeling exhausted. When you have no job I bet you will miss the days when you're working. I think it is better to take a leave if that's possible, you know how hard it is for everyone now to get a job.

sometimes that's what I hate in companies. They always give priorities to managers when they actually don't have important things to do. Well because they think the staff on lower levels are the ones doing almost all the things so they won't allow us usually

Oh well, that is just how it is and we can't really do about it

It is just so hard to take a vl from our company especially since it is the holidays! The managers are always the ones who are granted vl slots

time to rejyuvenates and revitalizez life. and we are obsessed with the daily life honchos. we are like pissed off with the same daily routine 9 to 5 job, home-office, office-home. so needed a time, time to thing with individual perspective and with our own will, time to think why we are who we are, why we are here.

I can understand that, I think we all need a break and maybe even a life change, time to work your life out but be careful not to get used to doing nothing and look to see if there is a job there when you want to go back to work, I hope it works out for you.
• Philippines
11 Dec 11
Thanks lilaclady, as I have mentioned, I don't intend to stay unemployed for a long time. I am not rich so I don't have that luxury of just bumming around for the rest of my life. I just need a good break, you know

It is common that people always feel tired , even hoping that there are two work days and five rest days. Relax yourself and pay attention to the beauty around you not the work itself. As an old saying goes: there is no discovery but not the beauty in life. Wish you happy.

I don't know if you can see you need a flexible schedule so that you can do everything in timeless and not target. Maybe you should change a different job like me, I changed from office clerical work to market research work. I have compared this two different field and I know flexible is the way to go.
• Philippines
27 Dec 11
Hello wongchoiyee! I hope I could be flexible like you (in terms of work program). However, you see, here on our country (Philippines), companies often look at your educational background. I don't have a degree yet, I just completed a certificate in Secretarial course so my work hunting is very limited. Oftentimes I wish I could work somewhere, but I know that my background is not qualified. I am going back to school to get that parchment soon!

I might be on to something? I like the sound of it though I do not clearly understand. Can you elaborate further please? And yeah, I even wish the world will stop revolving for a while..

You have seen the state of the world recently? there is no real reason for it, the world is broke and in a rescission? It makes no sense. I think the drones should just stop and stay in bed and just see what happens lol. The rich would get poor very fast! I think it might just make a difference.

Me too! I would want to do nothing for a whole day. I would like to sleep in, and just camp out in the couch and watch TV. Unfortunately, I have some responsibilities that wouldn't allow me to do this. Even on weekends. I don't need a couple of months, a week would be nice. Even a vacation with family is stressful, so I just want some 'me-time'.
• Philippines
15 Dec 11
A 'me' time That would definitely be fun! The difference with my job is that we don't have weekends. Our days off varies depending on what schedule we get unlike other jobs where Saturday and Sunday are the specific days off

Good day girl_thinking, With reference to your concern, I do understand what you feel. As I was also in that situation. Perhaps, better to find a way on how you will feel relax. For the meantime, you can make this online activity as part of your relaxation. Well aside from relaxing, you can also have your earnings. Good idea isn't it.

Yep, very good idea but I don't really plan to be out of work for so long. Right now, I am looking for options and I am printing resumes (again ) Good luck to me!

Hey there girl_thinking! If you would be interested we can switch places. Good for you that you do have a job, unlike me who is unemployed. As of this moment, I am DOING NOTHING. I am sick of doing Nothing! I want to challenge my mind. If you're bored with your job, I'm also bored of staying at home and have nothing to do. What I can suggest is to take a break and try to pamper yourself. Try to visit a spa.
• Philippines

Haha, of course I am interested but as if we could really trade places Why don't you apply for jobs now

Even i do not want to do anything, i never get bored of being ideal. although i spend most of the time at home only and try to earn some money through online work only , but it does not pay much as i am not a member of many good sites.

hello indi! good for you then if you never get bored. I always get bored. I don't have too many friends in the real world. Most people that I get to talk and chat with are the people I met online. Just like this, I am talking to you. I think I better be more friendly in real life so I can have friends to go out with

Hmm, before doing that, you might as well assess your financial capability if you have no work. That is very feasible, to do nothing, provided that you have some means of earning money for your foods and needs.
• Philippines

Yep, money always matter So that is why I cannot stay unemployed for so long..

Try doing business while you are unemployed or even join networking companies that are legal. You can earn while doing nothing and contribute to your government as tax means. we need to not waste our life here and make the best out of it. Sometimes you will see the what good in what you do when you already miss them. Cheers friend

I know how you feel, girl_T. I have thought this way back when I had my job. Routines are so boring, you would want a change of pace, that's not a surprise at all. LOL. Careful though, because getting jobs nowadays isn't easy, thanks to competition. Good luck, and when you have gotten your desired break, have fun doing nothing and make the most of it.
• Philippines
14 Dec 11
I certainly hope I could have fun doing nothing! Now, I remember Bob Ong's character from "Ang Alamat ng Gubat" whose job is to do nothing for people. "Gumagawa ako ng wala" the lobster said Have you read it?

Sometimes, I feel like that especially when I am intoxicated with work. You are not alone in this kind of state. However, as head of the family, I just can't be out of work. I think it's partly because of the season. This is the time of year when people should have fun and any kind of work seems like a mood spoiler.

I enjoy working and having a purpose to get out of the house. I enjoy keeping my mind and body active and communicating with people. It's like going on a trip. It's nice to get away for a little bit, but it's always nice to be back home again too. Time off from work for a little bit is nice, but it's always nice to be able to do things too. I have learned to appreciate the fact that I am able to work when so many others can't. But yes, I understand what you are saying. Maybe a two week vacation is what you need.

14 Dec 11
Maybe I need to get out more. I am always office work office so maybe that is why I always get burned with work so easily. Thanks for the tip Arieles, that is a nice point!
