I think it is hard for anybody to advise on that without knowing the circumstances of the country you live in and what it is like for traders there. Everybody, the world over, is feeling the effect of the credit crunch that started back in 2008, but there are some businesses that continue to grow regardless. On-line, it is not so easy to get a business going and you need to learn a lot about it. What I would do is to keep a steady job to ensure that there are wages to be had, and start a business part-time, then if the business really starts to bring in a lot of money, spend more time with your business and quit your job.
I have been self-employed all my life and things have been up and down. I have had some good buseinss and bad business. I have done a variety of things, but for the last 30 years, I have been a therapist with my own practice, but had to do initial training before beginning. I did that when I was a musician working in various night clubs and I kept the two businesses running side by side until I knew that I could make enough money with my clinic. _Derek

I think it depends on what skills you have, what business acumen and how the market you are aiming at is fairing at the moment.
There are all sorts of pros and cons to both working for someone else and working for yourself. To get the best of both worlds could you manage both? A lot of people work for someone else for part of the week and then spend their days off building up their own business. This might be a good option because you would have some money to pay the bills and put into your business. If the business takes off you can quit the other job!

Hi there xarex777! Well ya, i think that's a topic that is hard to decide on. Having a job or being employed is a good thing, all you need to do is go to office or workplace then do your job, then go home then by then get your salary. But you're right, because its repetitive, you'll get bored. So, having your own business is great too. You control your time, you're the boss. And you might also get more than what you earn as an employee. But the bad thing about having business is that it maybe more stressing to be a business owner rather being just an ordinary employee. And not only that, you also need a large sum of money as your capital. You also need to pay wages to your employees, if any. And sometimes, it also depends on your skills as well. Anyways, I hope you make the right decision and Have a nice day!

Hi xarex! I am looking forward to do my sideline next week. I hear it everywhere, being employed is good but with the cost of living these days, a sideline is ideal.

What is the difference? doing business is a job too or? You should do what you like most since only then you will be good at it and be able to make it a big succes.

While it's a good thing to have a work of your own, but also practically thinking, it is best to establish a business of your own as long as u have invested enough to make a start, go for it! Because not only you are making your own choices of living, but most of all you will be more like your own boss as you will no longer going through pressures, not like when you are working for other people.
