A couple of others have already mentioned that lavender and peppermint oils are good. Also try to rest it as much as possible although that is not always easy to do. Elastoplast recently bought out some theraputic heat pads for muscle pain and several people I know used them and said they helped considerably.
It cannot be much fun for you right now and I hope it soon is okay but just PM me if you want any more information on this mystikel.

i think you should go see a phsyio but lavendar oil is calming and so that may work, also peppermint oil.
Have u tried voltaren emulgel, its a muscle relaxent and seems to work better the dencorub cause it doesnt heat up the injury it relaxes it. good luck

As Kyliepops suggested, Peppermint and Lander oils work well. I know you're in Australia - there is a product called Migrastick which is for migraines, but it's also good for localized pain. It's natural and contains peppermint and lavender oils (FABULOUS for migraines) It's only a small roll on but lasts for ages. And not as smelly as Dencorub. When I have back or shoulder/neck pain (I have degenrated discs) I love Deep Heat because of the burn feeling which masks the pain. Nurofen Gel is OK, has anti-inflammatory effect and it doesn't stink. Also, I think hot packs feel better than cold.
Good luck. I feel your pain...

Try not to move it much. If you have someone who can rub it, go ahead. Then put ice on it for about 20 minutes. Take it off for about 15 and put ice on it again for about 20. During this time, drink water. I pull muscles all the time. Hope it helps!
