Glad tidings...Marguicha! Worrying about your diet, wouldn't those bananas be great as a "smoothie"??
Not being horribly fond of banana cake;per se...I add the bananas to my favourite carrot cake recipe, instead of the pineapple the recipe calls for! The bananas (like the pineapple)keeps the cake nice and moist! Then a nice cream cheese icing! You're so inventive you will probably make something spectacular!
May ALL your JOYS be true JOYS...and all your pain--be Champagne!!!

Hold this thought..
With visions of rum smoothies dancing in her head,
She snuggled the little ones, off in their bed,
The comfy chair beckoned..so with "smoothie" in hand,
Ah..gone all the tasks Christmas does demand!
Pleasant dreams...in Noddyland!

Oh, that sounds SO delicious, Perga! I really like carrot cake as long as it is made right (I have had some that is really dry and disgusting), but I think that bananas sound like they would be good in it. I also like smoothies, though, and now that you mention them I really want one. I guess it is time to break out the smoothie maker and have some "holiday cheer" this week!

Oh rum in the banana smoothies - I had not even thought of that until you mentioned it, Perga, and now I really want some! It is probably a good thing that I do not have any rum in the house, because I do have all the other ingredients to make banana smoothies, and I am thinking that Daddy would not come home early from work to watch the little one just so Mommy could have a banana smoothie with rum in it.

I have never had banana cake, but it does sound good. I really like banana bread, but I haven't had homemade banana bread in a while ... my ex-husband is really the one that used to make that and the zucchini bread, and I haven't been able to convince him to make it lately, since he claims that he is too busy. I suspect that you can freeze the cake if you make too much of it, but I know for a fact that you can freeze banana bread, because we used to do it all the time.

I don´t have a big freezer and it´s almost full now. But I will make some in cupcakes and take them to my daughter´s home for Christmas. They won´t last long there: there´s going to be 9 youngsters of different ages (all hungry, I bet)
How do you convince an ex to make bread for you?

We had to get a chest freezer, because our regular freezer was not big enough. It was worth it, though, because we can now stock up on things when they are less expensive or they have those really good sales. Also, we have a place to store the venison from hunting season for my brother, which means that we get to share it with him.
How do I convince an ex to make bread for me? It isn't just bread but also other things, such as soups, that he makes and sends some over to me. We stayed on good terms (in fact, I am on good terms with most of my exes), and we still talk on a fairly regular basis. If I make something that I know he likes, then I will make sure there is a little extra to send over to him as well. I know that some people think it is weird, but it just seems natural to stay friends, especially when there are children involved.

Perga, we definitely do have a lot in common!
I do not really think that I am that good, but I do try to see things for what they are. Of course, that is difficult when we are feeling the pain, but it does help to remember that the other person is also feeling pain, even if it was his or her actions that caused the break-up. In many instances, it is both parties that contribute to the decline of a relationship, although one party generally does have a larger role in it. Blame does not help anything, especially when there are children involved. In fact, accepting responsibility is the best way to teach them, in my opinion, because we are "leading by example". Also, staying "good" and not resorting to "bashing" and other negatives helps to reinforce the fact that just because the relationship did not work out between the parents does not mean both parents will not be there for the children not to mention it does not "sour" the children to other relationships in the future. That is definitely a win in my book!
On the other hand, if my ex did anything to harm my child, then that would be an entirely different story ... I might look like a sweet purple flower, but I am most definitely a mean and protective Mamma bear when it comes to my children!

Hiya margi,
Besides as I was going to say as I got carried away on another channel of thought was the home made Cakes are always much heavier than the Supermarket ones.
Thats how to tell the differences logical very logical of course and if real banana is in it you will be able to taste the pulp of the banana itself I reckon.
A friend of mine mad real Pineapple turnover and that was for real because of the real bits of pineapple.
Same with banana more or less I recknon.xxx

My mom used to buy banana cakes before because she likes it so much too. I think that it is healthy too. I am not sure about how this can be made but I am sure there will be a lot of recipes available on the net. The usual thing that we buy are those in the box which is a little easy to do.

I am not familiar with banana cake. Is it anything like banana bread? I'm sure that would be good and it does take very ripe bananas. I don't know the recipe for it, but I don't think it is too hard. Good luck with that!

I agree that it is not good to throw food away. Not to say that I never do it, but I do avoid it when possible. I hope that turns out well.

I like to eat the banana cake.
From my understanding, the banana cake here does not use the original banana.
In my impression, the banana cake which I can buy from the market here is made by the artificial chemical that tastes banana.
Because of this reason, I do not date to eat to much of banana cake because I am worrying it will affect my health later.

I will make the cake. And the original recipe is with bananas. I don´´t like artificial tastes so I cook and bake from scratch. I will surelly find a recipe with ripe mashed bananas.

Oh, i like eating banana cakes and they are delicious.
Actually before, i have already made a banana cake. It was an easy recipe from Pillsbury where you just have to buy that Pillsbury and mix them as per instruction. Then , bake it at an oven toaster for a specified minutes and voila, you have a delicious banana cake.

I don´´t buy mixes. I like to make cakes and all my cooking from scratch. Yesterday I checked at some recipes at the web and most of them called for mixes. Even the bananas weren´t real and I want to use some very ripe bananas I did not eat.

It is a very tasty recipe. It actually calls for nuts but i had a friend that didnt have teeth so i started making it with chocolate chips instead. I loved it much better so continued that way. bananas and chocolate are good together like chocolate and peanut butter. Its good either way.

Oh I have tried banana cakes. It is really good. At first if one is not familiar with it, he would be discouraged with it. However, after tasting it, one will definitely love it. It tastes great, and does not have the after taste. I think it should be something that everyone should try.

A good use of too ripe bananas is to smash them and mix them with the ingredients doing sponge cake. You get a fresh juicy sponge cake. It is full of vitamins as well. Have a wonderful day!

I am also a person from Kerala. Here we have a wide variety of bananas which has different taste and different money. We people in Kerala used to have a lot of dishes with it. We people people mainly use them to make salty chips.
I had eaten a banana cake from my cousin's house which was prepared by her mother. I After having it I feel that it is not much good. I think it is better to bake anything else.
