Why do we feel good about having cookies, ice cream, chip and other
junk foods while watching television..
It just seem like a normal thing to do for some of us..Its like a
lightbulb goes off and you get busy thinking about what you are
going to munch on..
I guess its just makes the show so much better....LOL..Not saying
its all a wrong thing to do, but sometimes people go overboard and
then realize that all the cookies/the entire bag of chips are all
gone...OOPS.....

hahaha I'm totally guilty of mindlessly eating while the TV is on and then...OOPS no more chips. Ugh it's so gross lol... It just feels good to rest the brain and sit like a lump on a log in front of the tv- and keeping your mouth occupied helps your brain chill out even more. I don't understand how some people can munch on things like carrot sticks or edamame in front of the tv though. It's a much healthier alternative no doubt- but that's exactly why I'll never understand, LOL

Called comfort foods they taste good and make us feel good. Usually we have popcorn while we watch our movies. (There is a new kind called Kettle Corn.) It all becomes a habit and we munch away without really noticing how much we have eaten. Not a good thing. hehe

I'm guilty. I like to munch on stuff when I'm watching TV and it's probably the absolute worst thing that one can do. My waistline can definitely attest to that.
Once you start eating in front of the TV, you begin to subconsciously associate it with TV watching. Then, when you start watching TV, you will crave something to eat, even if you're not really hungry. That causes you to overeat and along with the fact that you are sedentary, causes you to gain weight. Not a good thing.
It's a very hard habit to break though, at least for me it is. I like to watch a lot of movies and TV. It's my main form of entertainment other than the internet. I think my best bet is not to try and quit snacking when I'm watching, but to switch over to more healthy snacks. Maybe I'll give that a try...

I think it's the happy/satisfying feeling that this 'food' gives us, as it has so many artificial ingredients it's as bad it's good, so I guess that makes us even more excited and enjoy the movie/tv show then as we have some extra fun booster along with us :)

HI... It generally happens when one is watching his/her favorite show or movie.. That stimulates the desire to eat something... And that something usually turns out to be the thing that one likes the most.. I remember, as a kid I used to eat a lot more while watching TV... In fact, it had become a compulsion for me to have the TV on while eating... LOL..

I found that it is an enjoyment to have the snacks when I am watching a movie. Perhaps I go there just to have a good time enjoy eating. I don't really mind it is regarded as junk food. After all, it tastes well and I don't eat it so often.
I love China

Junk foods are very delicious food that one has in this leisure time or while watching movies and hangouts. Most often kids are very addicted to junk food that's the main reason why some kids are overweight at early ages. Having junk food while watching movies can make you numb about the amount you are in taking, because what normally happens is when people have junk food while watching movie they are unaware what they are really eating, especially when there is a interesting part going on we just try to eat and eat and end up with an empty bag. People who are addicted to such things have to cut on this behavior in future otherwhise diseases related to overweight will no longer far for them.

We normally control ourselves most of the time.If we don't keep a healthy diet once in a while, I am sure it won't hurt us.I feel its good to eat a bit of popcorn and have a soft drink while at the movies. We go there to have a good time once in a while so i think we shouldn't be too bothered about it.

Thank God I don't like snacking while watching movies. I enjoy watching movies so the most important is the movie itself not the other like snack. If the movie is so interesting, I can't stop watching so I avoid myself from snacking. The best time of watching movies is in the night so snacking is not good to do cos eating junk food in the night must be very bad for our health. it will cause obesity and accumulate fat in our body. so if we can't afford snacking while watching movie, it's better for us to change the snack. Send away the chip, cookies or pizza, and get some fruits instead..:)

I was thinking about this many times in the past. I do not understand the reason, but often feel the urge to munch on something too. Though, I usually stick with peanuts. Anyway, I had a few theories about this back in my movie-watching days (I do not have time for watching movies nowadays).
One of my theories was that my body simply needs to do something while head is watching. I've noticed that I kept squeezing something or knocking on the desk when I did not munch on anything while watching a movie. Though, that might be just me. Other people probably have other reasons. Maybe the brain wants more energy or something ...

I like it! I usually do that! It makes me comfortable while watching a movie. The universal food while watching a movie for me is a whole bunch of popcorn. I super love it!

Watching movies or in television makes us increases our appetite. That is why, when we watched television while eating, the more we crave more food.

I'm not sure, but the movie business has known about the connection between movies and food for a long time. I remember watching drive in movies as a kid with my family and watching those 20 foot tall boxes of popcorn and candy marching across the screen singing. Soon after that my Mom would leave to get something to eat. As far as eating too much, that can be put down to the type of food they serve. Salty snacks make you need something to drink. Also, there have been studies on what goes into movie popcorn. We know that people can get addicted to saturated fat, and movie popcorn has an outrageous number of calories- something like 1,600 calories for the large box, I believe, in a recent report. It's all empty calories targeting your saturated fat addiction directly. I've begun smuggling in snacks that are a whole lot better for me recently and I've noticed that I don't eat nearly as much.
