I feel so stressed out, due to the pain that i am in that i have been really sick.I am fed up of being sick, due to the pain i am in.If i could get out of pain for a few hours so i could sleep it would be really nice, but instead it is keeping me awake and really am now getting to the stage, that i can not take the pain any more.I was looking forward to christmas, but feeling like this and being sick, im not now looking forward to it.

I also have arthritis in the spine. I am being treated with acupuncture, and now, Vicodin. It is too early, in my case, to get any positive results. But, I think that next year I will feel better. Good luck to you.

Hi, jugs....I am in constant chronic pain as well. Have to take pain meds and a muscle relaxant throughout the days. One of my physicians gave me amitriptyline to take at nighttime with sleep medication to help with the pain. I don't always take the sleeper but with the amitriptyline, I can tell the difference with the pain. It never goes away completely. I don't think the medication is made that can take away chronic pain completely.
I haven't looked forward to any holiday for a few years now. So you are not alone there. I just consider each one another day. I've even missed remembering my own birthdays. So, don't stress about it. The stress will just make the pain worsen.

I hate it, as there seems to be no let up what so ever and it gets to the stage where as you start thinking of other ways to get out of pain, its awful having that feeling.I feel that having a bit more morphine than they say i can have only makes me be sick.In the past i have had a glass of sherry to wash the meds down and that never seem to work, but at the time anything was worth a try.I do not know how i am going to be able to smile for the whole of christmas day, but i will be gtitting my teeth no matter what i think for the childrens sake.

I am so sorry to hear that. May I ask what is causing the pain that you are in? I do not see what it is from the discussion. Maybe it will show after I hit submit. I sure hope you get to feeling better. It really does suck to be sick and in pain at the same time.

Raynauds disease and psoratic arthritis is the what is causing the pain in my feet and my spine, so no matter if i sit or lay it hurts. It is excrusating pain that wakes you up and stops you from going to sleep. Its the pain that is making me sick, plus i can only take so much morphine, so its a no win situation at the moment.

I sure hope you find a way to relieve your pain!!
I am in a lot of body pain as well, but the opposite for me as the stress of the holiday and trying to push myself too hard to get things done is causing mine.
I'm just wearing myself thin...staying up too late trying to get more done, and getting out of bed a little earlier for the same.
Again, I hope you are able to find a way to relieve your pain and enjoy the holidays.
Marsha

I want to be able to do things by myself, rather than asking for help off people, or relying on others. The pain is getting so much that i can not even look forward to christmas and that is the time i love usually and knowing it can be like this pain on the day is really hard and upsetting.I feel so tired, all i want to do is fall off to sleep, but the pain will not let me.I hope the pain will go, i hope you get more rest as well.

I am so sorry to hear that you are in so much pain. Are you taking anything for the pain? If not then perhaps you should speak with your doctor. Maybe there is something that he can give you to help you with the pain & in turn help you to sleep. It's so hard as we get older. I never used to think about joint pain or back pain & now as the older I get these are the very things that I'm having to deal with almost every day. I will keep you in my prayers & pray that your pain gets better & eases up a bit.

I feel that each year that passes the pain is getting a lot worse and the pain killers like the morphine do not do much to ease the pain.I am at the hospital again this week, so lets hope that they can offer me advice or better still some pain killers that will be great at working.Perhaps it is more pain as we age.

I think if you do the meditation and get to a better place you will feel better. Removing the stress will remove alot of the pain. When you stress you become rigid and the pain is more intense. Put Christmas out of your mind if it is such a stresser. Stay away from those.

I have been where I was in continuous excruciating pain day and night for months. I only slept for a couple of hours when my body blacked out from exhaustion. I finally came across Dr. Douglas Graham who coached me on how to reduce the pain. I still suffer some but I can live with it. I hope you also find a workable solution.

Dear jugsjugs,
How are you now? I hope you are in the pink of health.
I and my son are down with cough and flu, it is really
a bad way to celebrate the New Year 2012. However, I
will put efforts and have a positive outlook for it.
We plans to go for a movie later (perhaps wear a mask)
so not to spread to others..can't decide yet :)
Wishing you " A Fantastic Year 2012 "

Arthritis is one of those conditions where it is pain if you do something about it and worse if you don't. Pain killers and sedatives help in the management of the pain, but the body gets conditioned to these medications and the dosage goes on increasing as time goes by.
Physiotherapy is an option in some cases and some doctors do recommend it. Herbal or any other alternate system of medicine may help you, please make sure that you go to a registered practitioner. Homeopathy claims to have a comprehensive cure for most chronic conditions. Perhaps you need to explore that. I have managed chronic gastric aggravation because of my non functioning pancreas with Homeopathy. It has worked for me.
UK being generally damp country climatically, has an aggravating effect on Arthritis. A sunnier climate may help you. You are between a pin cushion and a very painful place, fight it, there is hope yet.

What kind of pain are you having? Internal or localized external nerve pain.
I ask because I have diabetic neuropathy, or MS related nerve pain on my left thigh.
I discovered out of desperation that hemorrhoid cream WITH ANESTHETIC, works for getting temporary relief from pain.
Votarin and products like Aspercream do nothing. I figured anything that relieves the burn and itch in THAT place, must be good for working in other less delicate places.
So if it's external and it helps, thanks for letting me share.
Internal, sorry I can't help. Merry Christmas and hope you find relief soon.

Pain is a demotivator, nothing can bring you down faster. I hope your pain subsides and allows you the peace you deserve. Do not worry about the holiday, it will come and go caring for itself, your job is to take care of you. May the peace of the season be upon you and yours now and throughout the coming new year.

Yeah, i understand what u are going through. WHen the pain gets too unbearable, there's no way u are able to sleep. The best u get is a doze off but waking up the moment u entered the first stage of sleep again I think painkillers are no longer working for me and u need other alternatives to keep your pain in check. I believe the hospital should be able to help u with it right?

I know what you mean! I have arthritis in my lower back and neck and some days I don't know where to look to feel better I mainly take pain killers but eventually I get sick in the stomach...to me the best thing to do is just rest.

U are not taking medication for your sickness? Don't u have pain killers for them too? I can understand what u are going through when pain is depriving u of your sleep. NOthing beats pain during our sleepy moments, and it annoys me too. What makes it worse would be our attitude towards people when the sun rises, due to insufficient sleep and constant pain, we tend to get irritated easily and become moody. If i'm in your shoes, i rather stay in a hospital than being at home.
