I have been a campbells soup girl all my life on their tomato soup. About the only soup I really liked until Campbells finally come out with their chunky soups. I was shopping one day with my girlfriend and she was looking for tomato soup. Naturally I thought it was Campbells she says NO its different. So I help her look and start noticing there ARE other kinds of tomato soups. For 58 years I have thought this tomato soup was the best. Now I finally got a can of what she was talking about it is Progresso's Parmesan Tomato soup. It has a totally different flavor from the one I grew up with you can see the herbs in the soup with chunks of real tomatoes. I am wondering how I lasted so long not finding this soup. So now I have two favorite tomato soups. When I get to have lunch at Paneras, I eat their tomato soup in a breadbowl. Its just my favorite soup. Guess its my comfort food.

did you know that Campbell's soup has corn in it? Well, oil and it used to be only corn oil, now I guess its whatever is cheapest... I get Amy's Organic soups, their Tomato is corn free.

I don't remember Heinz soups, but Maggiepie used to tell me that they had an even BETTER tomato soup than Campbell's.

wow no did not know that. Guess we figured it would be better since it was one of the first soups out. I was just thinking since you jogged my brain. Remember the Heinz soups too? I don't see those anymore so I guess they no longer make them man I am getting old when I can ask questions like that LOL

I love tomato soup. And, I, too, have championed Campbell's. I've tried making homemade tomato soup from scratch myself, but I didn't like it. I used to live in NJ, home of Campbell's and I stood by their products as of highest quality. But, for the past year I have been boycotting something that used to be first rate and good and reliable because it has now been dangerously compromised and it's so sad. Here are two good reasons why: http://radiopatriot.wordpress.com/2011/08/17/halal-hell-no/ http://atlasshrugs2000.typepad.com/atlas_shrugs/2010/10/media-swarm-campbells-hamas-halal.html We are losing our country in every possible way.

That is so true. Its a shame the way FDA regulates everything!

Not sure I understand your response to my comment. Objecting to the use of halal meats surreptitiously by Campbell's is the main point. Not just the religious "dedication to allah", but the uncleanliness of hallal plants in NY and MI and the use of road kill as "food fit for human consumption". It's scary that a good company would lower its safety and health standards for "political correctness".

Like you, for a long time I thought Campbells was the only tomato soup. I have tried the Progresso's and liked it better. I never wanted to buy anything different when I was with my ex. He didn't like chunky soup so he probably wouldn't have liked it anyway. Both go well with a grilled cheese sandwich. I am getting hungry just thinking about how good it is. I like any kind of soup, except mushroom, but tomato is probably my favorite.

Yea I have never been into creamed soups but tomato. I remember when my mom made potato soup. She had to threaten me with a belt to get me to eat that stuff. UGH. What us kids had to do in the 50's and 60's. Now I use cream of chicken and cream of mushroom to make different dishes but to just open the can on the mushroom brings back that smell when my dad cooked it for him.

I have never ever tasted a tomato soup in my whole life. Maybe that's because no one at home makes it. Probably as what i am always thinking when i chance upon it in restaurant's menu board is that it's not delicious because it is sour , as a tomato is. So, is it sour tasting , my friend?

When I go to a bread cafe called Paneras I have their sour dough breadbowl with homemade tomato soup in it. Its my favorite thing to eat at their restaurant except for their bagels and cream cheese.

Mmmmm the best way to have tomato soup is to have a grilled cheese sandwich with it. I don't know why but those two things just seem to go together. I take a bite or two out of my sandwich & then I take a few sips of my tomato soup. If you have never eaten these two things together before then you really need to do so. You'll never have one without the other ever again.

Oh the truth behind this statement. I can't recall a time I've eaten one without the other - it's like they were specifically invented to pair together.

I am laughing here at you two girls. My mom would not even put cheese on a cheeseburger. So I never had a cheeseburger til I went in the army and a sargeant bought me one LOL so she was not about to let me have grilled cheese with tomato soup. She was really wierd. I really changed my ideas when I left home!

The tomato is one of my favorite vegetables/fruits. And I love it so much. And I also like the tomato soups. The vegetable soups are always very fresh and taste well. And it is also healthy. Tomatoes do have some good elements which are good for our health. I love China

I can't say that I like tomato soup. Actually, I'm not a fan of tomatoes in general. I don't know why, but I've just never liked tomatoes.

I´´m a soup fan in Winter and tomato soup is my favorite. But I like to make it from scratch. I use chicken broth made at home and I either use tomatoes from my garden or, if I don´t have any, I use whole canned tomatoes. I blend them and add a bit of milk and a bit of sugar. YUMMY!!!

I have never been a big fan myself for any kind of tomato soup. I do have family memners that feel differently though. My daughter will not eat a grilled cheese sandwich unless we have tomato soup too. She doesn't care for the two foods apart but together they are one of her big choices.

Hi marie: I have never eaten Campbell's soup. However I always remember when I was a little boy my mother prepare to us tomato soup. I must say that first I didn't like it at all, but she prepare it with French friend and I must admit that I started loving it. It's a nice soup. ALVARO

In the UK, where I live, the best soups, of any description, are, in general, Baxter's and Covent Garden.

I like Heinz tomato soup even though it bears only a slight resemblance to actual tomatoes. It's a British institution, a great comfort food, and I love it piping hot with lots of crusty white bread to dunk into it.

I too love my Campbell's soups. When we have company and I am making something that needs tomato soup and other flavor soup we always use Campbell's. But, if I am just cooking for ourselves with the economy we use the store brands. I will have to look for the Progresso's Parmesan Tomato soup, it sounds like it would be wonderful. Enjoy.

For where I am it is Prego, mushroom flavour. I love it because its easy cooking for the children because they too like the taste. Its not chunky though but I almost add it to everything I cook. Once I had Tom yam flavoured instant noodles and add Pregos tomato soup in it, YUMMY!!

Ooh, I love tomato soup, especially with a grilled cheese sandwich or two (a habit I admittedly developed thanks to school lunches as a kid). Progresso's Parmesan version is delicious in its own right, but I don't get it as often as I do the Campbells type.

Progresso soups are much better than Campbell soups. For one there is a lot less sodium in them. Plus there are more nutritional ingredients in Progresso too. Tomato soup is an acidic type of soup and store canned soups don't turn me on at all. I prefer to make mine homemade. I know what is in it and all those additives are not part of what I serve to my family. Soup in a bread bowl is delicious!
