I'm sorry you are in such pain on Christmas. No one wants that kind of pain on any day. I hope you don't have to stay too long and you'll be at home resting comfortably.

I'm glad to hear you are home. It's still a sign you must be doing a bit better. :/

I am finally at home resting, but it took over a week in the hospital before the obstruction was relieved and they would let me eat again. I still feel like there is something stuck in my nose and my throat still hurts so I hope that gets better soon. Thanks for the response!

I know when I left home Saturday night I didn't expect to be admitted and I thought it might have just been food poisoning or something I ate, but the first thing they said after a CT scan was that I had an obstructed bowel. For some reason every time I put "an" into the tablet computer it kept putting "android" and I didn't notice that until a couple of people had asked about that. That is the biggest reason I didn't respond to any of these messages until now. Have a great week!!!

I hope that you are doing better now. I don't know for sure what is going to happen to me, but my doctor's office called Thursday to set up an appointment about restarting chemo. Oh well...Happy New Year!!!

I got out of the hospital last Monday, but still am not 100%. My doctor's office called me last Thursday to schedule an appointment to discuss restarting chemo so I guess I will wait and see what happens. Have a great new year!!!

Sweetie, I'm so sorry that I didn't see this one sooner, but I wasn't really online all that much during my daughter's holiday break because I was trying to enjoy my time with her home from school and also trying to make sure that the kids Christmas could be as magical as possible. With that said, I know that it wasn't fun to spend Christmas in the hospital, but please, never ever again ask if there is anything else that can go wrong because that is a bad omen.

I sometimes say things without thinking. I was really frustrated when I wrote that and the typing on that message was atrocious because I was using a screen keyboard and it kept putting wrong things in there. I was so happy to get home in January and to be able to eat on New Year's Eve (if you call clear fluids "eating").

I'm sorry to hear that you aren't feeling well and had to go to the hospital. I hope that you will recover soon and that whatever they give you makes you feel better. Now you will probably want to rest up. Get well soon.

I think the best thing they gave me was the torredol (not sure of spelling). The doctor suggested that when I told him the reason I wasn't swallowing my spit was because it hurt to much to do so because of the NG tube. Once they started the torredol I was able to swallow enough to keep the nurses happy so the next day the pulled the tube (that was yesterday). I ate my first solids even though mashed potatoes and gravy and ice cream are listed on the full liquids diet and aren't liquids at all in my mind. By last night, they finally let me get a regular meal. I got grilled salmon and green beans. I just hope things start looking better soon. Thanks for the response!!!

Recovery took over a week and if the regular doctor would have been there over the weekend, I would probably still have the tube in place because he didn't want to take it out as long as I was not swallowing my spit. It just hurt less to spit it out than to swallow it and when I told that to Dr. Hunter he said that he might start chemo to treat the obstruction even though the doctor that came in the next day just gave me something to help my sore throat so that I could drink. Now I am finally home and I hope I don't have to leave again. Thanks for the response!!!

I am told that it often happens with cancers, but I don't know if there was something else or not. The doctor had talked about keeping the tube in and starting chemo because I couldn't swallow well because of a sore throat. Fortunately the doctor that was in over the weekend took a different course of action and now I am home. Thanks for the response!

I know it's no fun being sick during the holiday season. Hopefully, you won't have to stay long. I'm glad you had sense enough to know you needed to go to the ER. Wishing you a better holiday season when you finally get back home.

I actually didn't get released until this afternoon. I gave up trying to reply to responses on the tablet because it was so slow! I didn't get to eat until New Year's Eve and then it was just broth. New Year's Day they took out the NG tube and that was such a relief because that was the first step to getting back to normal. I had my first meal in over a week yesterday. I just hope I did lose a lot of weight because I really needed to do that. Thanks for the response!!!

Actually, I got home from the hospital about three hours ago. I am so glad to get out of there, but now I have to start paying to keep my apartment warm enough for me. My brother had the temperature set at 61 when I got home. Putting it up to 70 still has me chilled. I guess I should turn it up more and deal with his wrath or something. Thanks for the response!

Sorry to hear that you've had a horrible Christmas experience. I hope by now that you're out of the hospital and would at least be experiencing a good new year. I don't know what 'android obstucted bowel' (it sounds painful), but whatever it is, I hope that 2011 takes it away. And may you not experience it in the coming new year!

It couldn't have happened at a worse time for me. I just got out of the hospital today, which is why I didn't respond before. I was using a table computer with a keyboard on the screen and whenever I entered "an" it came out as "android" but I didn't notice that until a couple of people mentioned it. I didn't respond from the hospital because that keyboard was too unpredictable. Thanks for the response.

Bless your heart you have been through so much! And now this. My girlfriend will more than likely get diagnosed with Cancer Wednesday. She has had the X-Rays and she read me the report and having a medical background its not looking good. I try to remain positive for her. Unfortunately I want to be with her and I am in Florida and she is in Canada. But if and when she has to have treatment I hope to go up and be there for her. We have been the best of friends for 15 years. I can't imagine my life without her. So I need for you my online friend to have a speedy recovery as well! Huggs to you!

That would be hard. I'm sorry to hear about your friend. I guess you must have got an answer from your friend by now (or is that tomorrow?) I hope that she is ok. I hope it isn't a serious, or at least not an advanced, cancer. I just got out of the hospital after not being able to eat for over a week so I am happy about that. I hope things go well for you and your friend. Have a great week!!!

I'm so sorry that you are having such a bad Christmas!I had to look that up. I've never heard of that before. That would be a mess. Hopefully they get it fixed pretty soon. That would be real painful. It is probably because of you having your colon removed.Maybe when you get out of the hospital you can pretend like it is Christmas and celebrate. This is the worst Christmas I've heard of in all of my life because a lot of my friends have lost loved ones or some kind of bad situation today. Did you accidentally spell Christkas if you didn't what is Christkas supposed to mean? I would say Merry Christmas but man, Hopefully your Christmas is best as it could be in your situation. Hopefully the hospital is at least feeding you a Christmas meal but it might be too painful to do that or they might be putting you on soft foods because of what you are going through.

They just had to give my belling a break I guess. I just wish that I could have had a meal. I wasn't able to eat until Saturday and then it was just broth. I didn't have anything to eat from Dec 24-31. It was no fun!!! If there was something misspelled, it was because of the tablet computer I was using. My laptop took a dive the week before Christmas so while I was in the hospital all I had was a tablet with a screen keypad and that is often hard to get the right buttons pushed. Thanks for the response!

Good thing that you drove yourself to the hospital. Although I'm not familiar with android obstructed bowel, I know how hard it is for you. Take care of your body sometimes something happen that we never expected to occur and sickness is like a traitor. Regular check up is a must before anything get worse.

For some reason, when I hit "and" it kept coming out as "android". I hate using the tablet for that reason. That is one reason I didn't respond until I got home. I have been seeing the doctor every month since the cancer treatment started but the obstruction started less than a week after a PET scan was done. I got a call from the doctor about the results for that test the night before I went into the hospital. Oh well...

Ihave always been quick to get things checked out. I just wish I would have come to this hospital first. It would have sqved me an ambulance ride and my brother a trip to the other hospital.

Sorry I didn't respond before, but trying to type on the tablet computer was next to impossible. In fact, somehow the last person I had responded to got a best response marked and I don't remember marking it. I was able to start eating on Saturday (if you can call broth eating) and got on solid food yesterday. I just hope I don't have to go through that again! Thanks for the response!
