WHAT THE HELL ARE THE MAKERS THINKING???
in my younger years i could remember asking for a barbie doll, i love one because barbies are beautiful and i love combing the hair...and here i am now a mother.
Me and hubby was browsing the toy shelves in the mall and guess what i have found? Dolls that are freakin pregnant!! Who the hell would create such? and from what i have seen there are a lot of it in the shelves meaning they are no saleable. I mean no parent in the right mind would buy her child a pregnant..i have nothing against pregnancy but really, the child would then ask, mama how would one get pregnant? i mean cmon!! no for pregnant dolls please. can anyone see logic in this? because i cannot hahaha sooooo mad mad world.
I got my daughter these piny pons she love..dressing dolls and all and not pregnant at all.

I think pregnant dolls are CRAZY!!! Children grow up too fast now a days! They dont need this on top of it. I think the makers are stupid... I dont want my kids asking me those questions at such a young age...

it is crazy...they do grow up fast but i do not think dolls should be pregnant just because they learn too fast right now.

Really? They won't ask those questions when they see a pregnant teacher or aunt or something but the doll will get them asking? Truthfully, My girls knew where babies came from and pretty much everything before they were 10. I really think that by answering questions truthfully and also explaining to them the importance of being in a loving and lasting relationship, it avoids them getting curious and seeking answers elsewhere. I raised 4 girls and none of them was promiscuous and they all know about protection.

I hadn't heard of that but am not surprised at all! This time last year..the doll that was in the hoopla was a br*aST feeding doll! Yep, the little girls "got to" nurse the doll! Sounds and all! The shrinks said it was good to teach the girls that it is okay to nurse..it is natural etc etc etc. However...most of the public thought it was deplorable that a doll like this was on the shelves much less endorsed by shrinks saying it was just teaching the girls about their bodys and natural functions. I am sorry but no little girl that is the age of playing with dolls needs to know ANYTHING about nursing! It didn't sell well!
I can't believe how much dolls have changed in last decades. When I had a doll...I did everything for the doll! I made it laugh, cry, crawl, snore, giggle, talk, pretended to make it wet it's diaper and rock it to sleep, made it walk and...EVERYTHING!! When my daughter was little, I too the leap and got her a Bye Bye Diapers doll...it would go potty in a potty chair. Okay, no big deal. Every goes on the potty. But that and one that skated and one that drank the bottle was as far as it went. Then..my grand daughter now 11... dolls for her were giggling and wiggling and talking etc. Baby Alive did it all! Where was the imageniation??
Last christmas I looked for a doll for my 4 yo GD and literally could not find a doll that did NOTHING!!! What wasn't remote control, was batteried and censors and good grief...girls don't have to have an imagenation to make the doll do anything as it does it all itself! Where's the fun in playing dolls/house if it is all done for you!
I went this year and wasn't looking for them, but saw some Baby Alive dolls...they did nothing but drink and wet. No sounds, no motion, no movement...just drink and wet. So I got the 5yo and the 2 yo ones each one so they can have the pleasure and fun of "playing house" as we called it in my day! I know the 5 yo one will love it. Hopefully she will be able to teach her little sister how to have real fun with a doll and playing mother! I feel sorry for kids today. They are missing out on so much REAL stuff.
Oh, forgot...Chatty Cathy...pull the string in the back of her neck and she talked...from the 60's.

Oh I know! I did my dolls personalities too! And paper dolls..my sister and I were always equipped with them! They were our "toy" on our camping trips and long drives. I just happened to see these Baby Alive dolls....on sale for $20 and the next week they were $30 and $35. Just doing those two things I can deal with. BUt anymore..and I don't buy the doll! I also wanted a doll big enough that I can make clothes for it.
Thanks goodness some little girls have parents and grand parents that still know the real way to be a kid!

I know what you mean! My daughter was also asking for a BABY ALIVE but hell no.. that costs around 3,000 pesos! I know it is a good doll, feeds and poops..but then like you said, she still has imagination. So hubby and i just got her these little dolls that she can exchange the dresses and accessories and her imagination can still work. When we gave it to her, she then played with it and got her little hankies and made beds for them! Atleast her imagination is still working right? Thank God hubby is not one who indulge her immediately and baby alive costs a LOT!
I also could remember having dolls before that does not do anything, and i am one who let them do something, dress them up, talk / cry lol it was fun and i even had paper dolls that i made on my own!

There was a pregnant barbie-type doll around back when my girls were small and they are 25 & 26 now so this isn't anything new. They were probably about 6 or 7 when someone gave them each one. I thought it was kind of weird but I didn't make a big deal about it. I was always very open with answering their questions about these things and didn't have a problem if they asked me. They didn't though. I was pregnant with their little sister right about that time and kids see pregnant women all the time so they are going to ask questions with or without the doll. If I recall, the stomach popped off and the babies could be taken out. I know what you mean...odd concept but I really didn't have any issues with my girls as a result of having them.

hi jazel juan oh my I think thats really pretty stupid because little kids that play with dollies are too young for the birds and bees lectures. and besides our little girls are already being pushed to
grow up before they are through being kids.I think thats a pretty
silly idea and doubt that many parents are going to fall for that
at all. I know I would not buy those for friends children, and my only child is an adult now , son , so no pregnant dolls for me.

My daughter is 7 and is actually smart for her age...but i do not think she is smart enough for a pregnant doll..even if she will reach the age of 10 or 12, i do not think i will buy her a pregnant doll! I mean the birds and bees lectures will be more pleasant than giving her a pregnant doll.

Oh, is that true. I haven't seen one , in the malls here.
I think it's not appropriate for the children and parents will not buy it for them, that's why it's not saleable.

I can think of just one reason to give a pregnant doll to my baby, and perhaps it could be not so absurd: when my daughter was 4 years old, her mom was pregnant for the second. She lookeed quite worried at mom's physical transformation although we tried to explain what was happening. So I think it could be a good idea to make she play with a pregnant doll, just to think that it is a normal thing and familiarize with the situation.

I've never really been into dolls, but I can't see the harm in a pregnant doll.
I don't know if many children would want one. maybe if someone in their family was recently pregnant they might find it fun to have a pregnant doll.
I know I wouldn't have wanted one, but I don't see any harm in it.

Hard to believe that today the toy can be so "improved":) I don't know whether the children will understand it. Perhaps they will ask parents many embarrassing questions if they get the pregnant barbie doll. I don't know whether it is necessary to have the pregnant barbie doll. It is just weird in my opinion.
I love China

I don't think those pregnant dolls would sell so much. I could only think of using them as for doll role playing as a pregnant mom, and that would be it.

I think the small children don't understand those things at their samll ages but as the age passes they will come to know it. Most of the parents will not buy such dolls for their child.
Will you buy such dolls to you child.
I will never buy !
