I still do not fully love my college course which is Civil Engineering. Maybe it is my dream ever since I was a kid but now that I am a second year student in this course, I cannot say that I love it fully. I am very confuse at the moment if I shall continue it or shift for another course. I am in deans list on our school at the present and I had already gained many friends. I think I cannot leave my record and my friends in our school.

The number of people who think exactly the same thing in their second year is very, very high: I know that almost ALL my University friends wondered whether they really wanted to carry on.
One changed from Microbiology to Computers
One dropped out
One changed from Geology to Music (!)
A lot of us took as many courses in other departments as we were allowed to
I know that I nearly dropped computer science in my second year. 18 is too young to make decisions on what you want to spend 3+ years studying for most people. I kept going, though (with courses in the theology department for a complete change - which, incidentally, I totally aced and embarrassed all the REAL theology students) and got the degree. It's been almost completely useless in the real world.

Wow! It's great that you are included in the dean's list. So I assume that you are very intelligent. I am also a civil engineering student like you. I am now in my fourth year. And I know how hard it is to study civil engineering.
Well believe it or not, but until now, I am not fully in love with my course. Actually I am only starting to appreciate civil engineering. Perhaps you have to think clearly whether you wanted to continue the course. But I suggest that you pursue your passion. What are the things that you love to do. What are the things that when you do those things, the time flies fast because you enjoy what you are doing. Think very well. Never mind what other people will say. Just follow your heart

I think each person has his own destination. You can still strive to be in the Dean's list for another course and keep in touch with your friends. Follow what your heart desires because that's what gives you true fulfillment in life.

Try to think about it many times before shifting. If your grades is becoming low maybe you should be shifting to a "hearts desire" course. But based on what you stated that you re in deans list I think you re doing great for that course. Deans Lister are those students who have a grade not lower than 1. Am I right? Maybe you are influenced by somebody? We have confusions on mind because of the influence of people around us. Or do your parent has something to do with your confusions? Sometimes parents are too busybody. They decide what course their children should take without asking if they like it. Try to contemplate every details first.

I felt the same when I was in college. I didn't really love my course then which is Management and Accountancy. I hate numbers, just that my parents want me to take it so I had it as my course in college. It crossed my mind to shift to another course when I was in second year but I was thinking of the money that my parents paid in my school. So, I told myself that I will just finish this course just for the sake of my parent's want and if ever in the future I still want to take the course that I really wanted too, I'll educate myself with it. Fortunately, I will be studying again next year. But this time, it will be the course that I really wanted to take. :) How about the others? :)

I think you should change course and don't worry if you had already gained friends. You can gain more when you shift to another course. The most important thing now is where your heart should be. If you're not happy with what you're taking up then go and shift. You can't work/study well if you're heart and mind is not into what you're doing. Find a course that you love and you don't have to worry about it anymore.

My course is Bs development communication. It is not my first choice because what i reallyy wanted is to become a doctor. Writing is my passion that i can pursue whatever career i have. But because of financial incapacity to pursue a med course i go to my second option. I learned to fully love it since it is my passion.

I think you better take another course when you graduate because as you have said you do not fully love your course. In the future you will have to find a job pertaining to the course you have taken. So if you're not enjoying your course right now it is a big possibility that you'll end up not loving your work to. It is up to you whether what job you choose in the future.

You have to think twice before arriving at a particular decision. There are so many students who feel that too. They say that you have to follow your heart, but consider what you think is right too. If you feel like you're already drowning and there's no way for you to rise up anymore, then maybe that's the time for you to change your course already.

It is really important to plan your career path before going to college. It is imperative for us to avoid shifting to a different course and for us to enjoy college life to the fullest.

I think that it is common for college students to feel this way during their second year of college, regardless of what their major is. I know that I felt that way when I was in college and I went to the extent of almost changing my major, but I didn't end up doing that. With that said, you need to think about other fields that you might be interested in and if there is something that you think that you might have more interest in, perhaps pick up a double major in that field or change your major completely.

Dear friend, I that speak to you that at your age, I was certainly not of course a "model student", in fact I was rejected for 3 times during my school career.
In fact, I struggled to get a degree, but in the end I succeeded. To this I say thank you to my parents who have always insisted that I could get my education.
I know I probably am the wrong person to give you advice on the subject, but let me tell you one thing: if you really believe, strive and move on. One day these efforts will be rewarded.
That said, it is to you to decide.

Hi dear friend kaichoukebz,
My sincere advice is that you must continue and complete the course. Civil Engineering is the mother of all that is known as 'engineering' that has been evolving into many branches.
You'll enjoy designing the supporting structures needed for all other engineering systems, equipment, machinery or instruments whatever comes on your way as a structural engineer.
Civil engineering is the most important field wherein you're going to interact with all other engineers, viz., mechanical, electrical, electronics, instrumentation, chemical or anything that you name.
You'll have to interact with various such engineers and you're going to enjoy your career if you choose to be a civil engineer.
Civil engineering is the basis of all, and you will learn a lot while you erect or install foundations and systems.
Your structures are going to be sweet memories when you look back in your life. You're going to provide shelters to the people, which gives you satisfaction as you go on completing a project after another project.
Try to explore the world of Civil Engineering by browsing through the internet where you'll be astonished to know that you're in the right direction.
Wish you the best.

You should continue it. As you have said, you are a deans Lister. That only means that you really into that course. Have you choose the course you want to shift with?If you are still not decided on it,maybe you're only confused by now. Try to make it easy. Don't push hard on your self. You can finish the course and take another one if you still not contented with it. Studying is fun. Good luck to you;)

need to think what you really like to do, remember Civil Engineering is a five year course with 1 year review and you need to take the board exam. You still have a long way to go
