1 and half months is not enough but at least now you can increase your daily workout activity
try to increase the weight, do more reps and slowly you can grow
i think at least 6 months of workout would give a nice toned body
but yeah don't leave after that just continue

How old are you?
I remember my brother in law who is a gym instructor and a body builder winner ( he won many prestigious awards)
He started building his muscles when he is 16 yrs old...and it takes him 4 years to build up those great muscles.

It takes a good amount of time to build muscle. everything would depend on the way you take care of yourself. I will list down the factors that I know that will greatly affect your muscle growth:
1.) rest
2.)frequency of lifting weights
3.) nutrition
4.) genetics
5.) proper form
all of these greatly affect your growth. hitting the gym 6-7 days a week does not i repeat does not guarantee you good muscular growth. our muscles need time to repair and we get that from rest and the nutrition. The people in your gym i bet took years to get the muscular physique that they wanted so do not even think about giving up. just research about how to grow muscle, follow correctly and give your best then everything will fall into place. SLOW AND STEADY WINS THE RACE my good man.

Nutrition Nutrition Nutrition!
Your muscle are in a better way now, after a month + that you are working
But if you want to see them you need to eat well and burn fat.
If you will have between 5 - 10 body fat, you could see your muscles

Me too! I am skinny and I want to gain weight and have a nice and toned body. However, it really is quite hard to gain weight. But unlike you, I haven't tried going into a gym. Maybe when you already gain some muscles in there you could give me some tips on going into a gym. Please do tell if going to the gym is effective in gaining weight. Thanks!

I think it depend on how you train, but when i was in college, my trainer said that if we increase the weight of our lifting everytime we train, then in 3 months we will see the result and i tried it and for me what he said was true, my muscle mass increase in 3 months of excercise.
