I love to eat but I don't know how to cook!
I was planning to learn cooking last December. I decided to buy a cooking book as my guide. Until now, I wasn't able to buy a cooking book. Maybe I lost my interest or I am just lazy. How do you motivate yourself to pursue your plan? Happy mylotting!

I use to not know how to cook until I took a cooking class through our local health department. It was awesome and after I finished the class I got a certificate of completion and a cookbook.

Wow good for you Tina! It is nice that your local health department has created this program for its constituents. I am sure you are good in cooking now.

If you are intending to learn cooking let me suggest you to join a cookery class rather than finding cookery books and recipies out of that. There are many practical things which you will learn when you go practically for cooking.Mostly recipie books are for those who are usually cooking and want some new menu.
And this way you can be regular for your classes also and you will find some new friends too...lots of gain right... :)

One doesn't need a cooking class to cook. And recipes are not just for making some new menu. A cook book can be an inspiration to try something new, to get different flavor ideas for things you already like.
A lot of cook books now days actually give you a break down of what things mean, how to use a knife, different types of whatever and their uses, as well as variations to recipes.
A cook book is a valuable learning tool

Actually, I don't want to go to a cooking class as I have a daytime job. I guess it would be exhausting to go to a class after work. I have to agree with meholl. Cook book is a learning tool. You don't only know how to cook but you also learn related to cooking. I think buying a cook book is cheaper than enrolling in a cooking class. Thanks for responding. Happy mylotting!

I usually have a craving for something that I just don't know how to make, which inspires me to learn how to make it. I find recipes on foodnetwork.com, allrecipes.com, delish.com and everywhere imaginable. But I read reviews before deciding on a recipe.
I am a self-taught baker and cooker. I didn't need a cooking class to follow a recipe. I also watch foodnetwork to learn, and you can also watch episodes online.
To get that motivation to cook or bake, it has to be something that you want to explore and learn about. Maybe just finding a recipe for something that sounds so yummy will be motivation

Thank you meholl for this wonderful respond. I guess more people now prefer to use the internet rather than using a cook book. I know you can find many good recipes in the internet. I think I will try to visit those sites you've mention. Thanks for sharing! Happy mylotting!

just keep the interest by trying to watch TV cooking shows. it is easy to lose the drive by not really making time for it. probably you can ask yourself first. to whom are you going to cook? someone must motivate you to do it, to pursue it. then, try your favorite food first. make it your own. make it. make it.

Thank you for responding on my thread mensab. I watch cooking show sometimes. That is one of the things that encourages me to learn cooking. I get jealous if a man knows how to cook. I will try to keep myself on motivating on this thing. Your comment seems like encouraging. Happy mylotting!

I also love to eat but not a good cook, late last year when i started to learn cook. And until now i am still in my learning process to cook some delicious meal and snack. As of now they like my cooking meal. I did not buy any cook book i just browse in the net and watching in you tube. i also ask my mom and some friends how to cook the meal that i want to learn.
Cooking is also fun, which i never knew before and you will never know until you try it. I just always think that the meal that i cook will definitely my loveones love it and like it. And creating another dish with my own version, i can share also with anyone. And that is what motivate me.
Happy Cooking.. Don't hesitate to try it and do it..

Yes, I agree with you. Cooking is very fun. I guess it is also a good way to set free stress. Good for you that you have already started cooking. I know someday you will be a good cook. I will also try to cook soon. I like to have a cook book while cooking. I guess it is more fun and hassle-free. Thanks for sharing! Happy mylotting!

Write it down in a post it note, journal notebook or whatever. Just have a reminder of your goal in front of you and you will be compelled to do it.
If not, buy the ingredients and materials, you are now forced to cook or else you'll just have something rotten sitting in the fridge!

I want to bake. As a kid, I used to bake brownies and cookies with my mom.
You don't need to buy cook books because there are plenty of recipes you can find on the internet. Whenever I need new snacks for my son who loves helping me make snacks I search for recipes online.
Think of what you want to cook. Share it online. Print the recipe. Buy the ingredients. Start COOKing.
That's all you need to do.
Happy cooking.

Thank you for your nice response. I know that there are many recipes in the internet. I guess buying a cook book is quite cheap and hassle-free. You don't have to print the recipe anymore. My plan is to cook home-style food. Foods that I usually eat at home. I appreciate your comment. Happy mylotting!
