Opinions On Facebook?

Personally, I think it's stupid. It's like people can't have conversations in person anymore; they have to have FaceBook. All of the ignorant teenagers in high school can't imagine what life would be like without it, and hearing a teacher compare not having FaceBook to the bubonic plague is ridiculous (yes, he did do that). Am I the only one who feels this way, or are there others out there?

When I first created an account with Facebook, I was so excited because I will be able to communicate with long lost friends and classmates. However, now I realize that most of the time, I'm not in the mood to communicate with them nor they are to me. It seems that we became so estrange that we're as good as strangers to each other. Same foes with my long lost relatives. So, although I'm always online and I still keep my account, it is just for emergency purposes - for my friends who doesn't know my mobile number who would like to contact me. I no longer post any status update nor new photos because I'm thinking that it was just a waste of time.

Facebook have been a great help in communicating with distant friends. And that's how I use it. I get updates from my distant friends & relatives with facebook, they can still share what's happening with their lives even when we're apart. And we still use it as a secondary source for communication. It's easier to contact everyone on Facebook when planning a reunion, outing, party, etc.

You asked, so here goes; I truly am thankful for Facebook. For someone with family and friends all over the country Facebook makes it is easy to have conversation with all of them at once. I work a full time job, am in pursue of a writing career, and I don't often have time or money for visiting them one on one. In this fast pace world we live in, it's important to keep contact with those we care about more than ever before. It's also important to meet new friends. I have made many new friends through Facebook who I was delighted to meet in person later on. Through Facebook I have gotten to know people from all walks of life, from all around the world and have drawn great inspiration to pursue my ambitions as a writer and as a friend. Facebook has my vote. I agree with the teacher's remark. Facebook however is not used by many people and the old fashion letter in the mail or phone call should still be practiced when it comes to those loved ones that don't use a computer at all. And visits should be made to see people in person when possible. I do these things when I can but without Facebook there would be longer gaps between contact with people I care about that do use computers.

I created facebook account not to be addict into it. I make sure to evaluate myself whether I am exaggerating in using facebook. I only use facebook for studies. It helps me to connect with my colleagues. They give me updates regarding our subjects.

i have facebook account, but the only reason i made it to find old school mates that i haven't seen for years.for me is just a way to keep in touch with friends that live now in other countries, far away and to find old friends.i belive some people forgot how to live their lifes for real, and they live on the internet only.what drives me crazy are those silly games that end with Ville.i believe they are a waste of time and receiving the requests makes me nuts.

Hi, partially you are right..I also felt this way and for long time did not open an account on FB. However one day I decided to do it only for reasons related to my blog on car design education to reach young students out there looking for the infos. So open 2 pages and my activity increased exchanging only about how to do to become a designer....it looks like I am one of the few from professional life to do this for students. My blog increased traffic too and a little also earnings... However on my pages no photos of my family or sentences about love and stupid stuff like that!

I think they are too dependent, or should I say addicted, to Facebook that they think they can't live without it. Or maybe it's just they're way to show everyone that they are part of the trend, being "IN". Sometimes people just overreact on things, a hyperbolic reaction (I am a bit guilty on this, I'm a Twitter addict... lolz). I guess that's just part of who they are. But parents should also be on guard on what their kids are doing online. Kids especially teens sometimes take things on the internet seriously and tend to get scammed or something.

Yeah, sometimes I feel the same thing as you did. There are some person who are so addicted on it and they can't control themselves to use is as their part of life. They prefer to share their problem on it, talk and chat whit other use it whereas they have met each other before, they also feel that their friends on this media is more worth than their real friends surround them. The worst thing is some bad person also use this media to trick or take any advantage from others users' trust to get money, information or other bad unwanted things
