Come to think of it, if the doctor pulls his rate down, he can have more patients. More patient would mean more improvement opportunity on his part.

yup!
but these days its all about making money!
Many of the doctors who come in the profession dont come with the thought to do something honorable but to actually make tons of dollars and have big houses and big cars!
but yes there are still many doctors who just work to do good for this world.
God bless such doctors!

Assuming that the clinic is situated in a hospital (hence him being not the only doctor in the area) and has lots of clinic hours (to control for time) then there may be some truth to this observation.
However, it is really hard to ascertain what's a "good" doctor given that people have different criteria for that. Sounds surprising, but sometimes the choice of who will treat you depends on more than expertise. I, for example, think that a good doctor should have research experience and is not just a practitioner in the field, a criteria by which the average person wouldn't probably think twice about.

Hi Riven! I agree with you. There are some doctors who felt that they are too tired to learn and research more into their craft. Some of them are stagnating.

It might mean his prices are reasonable, so more people can afford him.

hi grace,
most patients get acquainted with new doctors through other patients. like this doctor cured my relative, my neighbor, my daughter and son... etc. and that is how people flock to their clinics.
but i know of doctors who get referrals from other doctors because they are buddies.
well as to your question.. maybe he is a good doctor if he is getting referrals from other patients.

I don't like queueing, so if there was a shorter queue for another doctor I'd pay him/her a visit first.

It may mean many things!
1) He is cheaper than the competition
2) He tells people what they want to hear
3) He readily prescribes what people think they want or need
4) He is the only available doctor in the area
None of the above necessarily mean that he is a GOOD doctor!

Possible but not necessarily. He just may be popular to a lot of people and sometimes being popular doesn't mean he's good medical practitioner. But I do know of some very good doctors that really have long queues of patients waiting to see the doctor. My son's pediatrician is one. She's not only good but doesn't also overcharge people :)
