Because of the lockout, NBA started just last Christmas. There are a lot of trades and signing of free agents happening. Paul landed to the Clippers and Odom to the Mavs.
The early surge of the Thunder gained them the seat for the West while Bulls' chemistry keyed them to top the East.
As an NBA fan, who will be the 2012 NBA Champs?
Mine? I'll go for LA. Although they are already aging, still Kobe, Gasol and Bynum are much feared in the league. I know that GM has plans of upgrading the PG spot and let's see how he do that before the trade deadline.
So what's yours? Support your team!
All the Best!

Do you still stick to your own opinion now, bro? It is time to wake up now. Though i am a L.A lakers fan, i don't think they have any chance to jostle for the championship. They may not be able to get into play-offs, let alone pocketing their sixth champion ring. As it is known, lakers needs an excellent point guard, which is not available now. For the lack of an assistant, Kobe Bryant is doing more than what he can to support the team. Despite the rapid growth of Andrew Bynum, a fabulous pointers is necessary for Lakers. And you can see how weak its attack is when Kobe is tired or loses his touch. Just face it, bro. L.A lakers is not gonna make it in this season. Yet we can look forward to the next season.

I'd like to think that Lakers can still go up until the Finals but the stats are saying otherwise. Although they win consecutively and with Kobe putting up big numbers, the Lakers aren't as consistent as they were two or three years ago, when they won 2 rings. Plus as you've mentioned, Kobe is aging, Bynum is hurt (as always) and Pau is just...gay.. LOL. No, he's just soft. They need to toughen up in order to win another ring. But if they will reach the finals, then that's good because they look like an underdog now.

Kobe might be aging but look on how he's playing now. He's the vintage Kobe, he's like on his 20s! Brown knows how to use his resources, especially Bynum. On a shortened season, enough rest and conditioning is so important and play a vital role. With regards to Pau, it's his game but do not underestimate him. He's still one of the elite forward/centers in the league. There's no doubt.

For me, I think Miami Heat will win it this time. Their west opponent might be the Thunders. Lakers, Mavericks, Clippers, and Bulls might be the toughest contenders but I maybe not enough for Miami Heat. Still, what matters, is that we, the fans are enjoying the shortened season and is anticipating eagerly to know who will get the trophy.

Clippers are going to make it this year, and when they do, it'll be the end of the world.

i think the dallas mavericks will be able to defend its title this year. the defending champion just needs more time and games to gel with other new teammates. the core of the team who won the title remains intact, nowitzki, terry, kidd, and marion, is formidable enough to be able to retain the title in dallas. i go for mavs to have its title again.

Right at this moment I still cannot predict whose who in winning the championship this season, With the reduced season, some veterans might have a problem to adjust from back to back games due to lack of rest. The Celtics for example started a 4-7 win lose record at this moment, with a 5 game losing streak courtesy of the Oklahoma City Thunders earlier this day. Likewise it is more favorable for younger teams like the Bulls, Thunders, Clippers, Atlanta, and Heat to jump start their impressive run to the playoffs and deep into the finals. Let's not forget the Lakers also to contend in the West but I think they are not that strong like the previous years especially they got swept by Dallas last season. Kobe may be scoring 40 points a game at the moment but that wasn't enough to defeat the Clippers on there last battle this week. Bryant should take into account that he is a member of a team, not a one-man scoring machine. His teammates should also do their job well and not depend enough on him. There are many obstacles that the Lakers must hurdle first like the Spurs, Clippers, Thunders and Mavericks. The Bulls and Heat might get a rematch in the Eastern championship and Mavericks vs. Thunders or Clippers in the west provided no injuries between this top teams occur.

Its hard to predict a season like this. Because of the compressed nba schedule since the season started late, it would be an advantage for the younger and healthier teams. You can look at chicago, the clippers, OKC, and miami as title contenders. I predict miami to win it all this June.
I am a laker fan and still in doubt if they can get back to the finals. For me, it would improve their chances if they get Dwight or a quality young point guard.
