Last week i ended up at the drs and that was due to really bad swelling of my ankles on both feet, as well as both feet really swollen.I thought that i may have had fluid build up, so i elevated my feet and they still had not gone down after two days, from the drs i had to go to the hospital. My dr at the hospital told me that it was due to my raynauds disease and she will get an ot to get me a bed cradle. The bed cradle will help as then i will be able to try to keep my feet warmer and do not have to have the weight of the quilt on my feet or ankles, the arthritis in my joints are also hurting, lets hope for warmer days and nights, as i do not think the cold is helping at all.

I can hardly bare to stand or try to walk, as i also have Raynauds disease that is stopping the circulation and that has now spread to my whole foot, rather than on just both sets of toes. The psoratic arthritis is painful on its own, which is also in my feet, back and neck.

I don't know how religious you are, but read Psalms 103, especially the first five verses. The doctors haven't done you much good. As a minister said, they only practice medicine. You need someone who heals all our diseases. You need the healing power of Jesus Christ.

I suffer with swelling in many places not just my feet, however, it is not Raynaud's disease. The cause of mine is low potassium levels and low blood calcium, and I do have osteoarthritis. It is far better to see a qualified physician and get proper diagnosis than to guess what is wrong and cause more damage. I refuse to live on pain medicines and like you, I live in snow country. I would love to move to a warmer climate but the expense isn't feasible right now. Blessings on you and I hope the bed cradle helps.

I hope the cradle works, as that way i can try to get my blood to circulate in my feet, rather than the problem getting any worse. The physician who i see is great and they are always keeping a close watch on me, as i have a problem with my bloods as well and they always explain things properly to me that also helps, rather than them use all their posh words.

You were smart to go see your doctor. I think I know what a bed cradle is; if it is what I imagine, I would love to have one myself. I have very sensitive feet (princess and the pea feet) and have to let my feet hang from undeer the covers to avoid the pressure created by my covers.
Maybe you should snowbird and move to a warmer climate in the colder months. In any event, you seem to be in good hands for medical care, which is very good. Here is a wish for warmer days too.

My dr at the surgery sent a fax to the hospital who i was already under and they were the ones that said that it was due to my Raynauds disease, as this had been showing up worse in my blood tests. When i went to the drs i thought that they would give me something like water pills that would get shot of the (what i thought was fluid) swelling down.Thankfully i have a great ot as well.I also can not bare anything on my feet, not even a shoe due to the pain.I think a warmer place to live sounds nice, maybe when the children have grown up and left home we will find a warmer place to live.

hi jugsjugs yes I have seen bed cradles and they really do help thos with swollen feet and legs. I hate the cold weather as it set off the arthritis in my knees too. I have bronchitis and am taking antibiotics but I cannot see any change yet and only have two days left on them a five day series.

The cold weather do not help one bit, i have my heating on all of the time, but that do not seem to help either. It looks like the Raynauds disease is trying to out do the arthritis in the pain being a lot worse and with the morphine not taking the edge off things it do not really help.I do hope you feel better soon Hatley, perhaps you need stronger antibiotics or need to be on them longer.

Hatley, 5 day medicine that I've had, works for days afterward, so effectively for 10 days. Hope that is the case with what you're taking. I'm subject to bronchitis a lot, and I hate taking medicine, but it is necessary. Get well soon!

sorry to hear of all your problems. I am suffering with aches and pains at the moment(old age and having too much fun in my younger days!) but they don't sound so bad as yours. I have seen the bed cradles in hospital and they are a wonderful thing for you to have. I have heard of Raynauds and know it is painful and uncomfortable for your fingers and toes. I have been trying to think of helpful hints for you to keep warm, but everything like heat pads for underneath, fan heaters etc., are so expensive,Perhaps a very light wool scarf wrapped round your feet might keep them warm, not a blanket as that would be too heavy but something light. Just a thought, keep us updated. Hope you feel better soon and the weather improves xx

Sorry to hear that you had to go to the hospital. The cold doesn't do us much good does it? My arthritis is terrible and I sleep alot when it is cold. Would like to hybernate if at all possible. Hope you are better soon.

Not sure what a bed cradle is, but it sounds painful.
It reminds me of my twisted knee which has been acting up. I twisted it just before Christmas, and after 3 weeks of waiting around, I've had it medicated which took away the pain. Early last week the pain is back.
I might have to go back to the doctor.

Hi! jugsjugs, i understand how you feel, it is really annoying having arthritis and raynauds disease at the same time. The bed cradle could really help you, and maybe you could also wear something that could keep you warmer. Here in my country we don't experience real cold weather. In fact it is already warmer and i think we are on for a very hot summer. Though some of the people here have arthritis, usually it is due to dietary factors and old age. I myself also experiences slight pain in my joints and legs during the afternoon. I work in the office sitting most of the time and my blood does not have a good circulation, and my legs become swollen at the end of the day. All i do is, when i arrive home i elevate my legs and apply liniments. you see, i am in my fifty's and i start to feel those aches and pains also in my joints.Take care!

I know that things must be getting worse with you, as bed cradles are only used usually in hospital.I think that it is great that they have been able to give you one at home, if this helps only a small amount, it is better than not at all.I feel sorry for you, the thought of pain being soo bad that you are unable to have anything over or on your feet, I hope this help.

Hi jugsjugs,
I'm sorry to hear about that. I hope that you'll get better soon.
Yes, you are right, cold will not really help. Because this is the cause why you're feeling this. Always make sure that you are warm to get all the blood flowing.

Dear jugs..it is so nice to hear from you, altho not under the best of circumstances.
Once again, I was worried about you...but at times fear to PM you, knowing that it might disturb you! I responded to your last discussions...and then worried!
Many years ago..I had (ugh)Gangrene in my left foot (due to a very, very bad operation)..it was touch and go to save my foot...several rejected skin grafts, etc...but the whole time I had to use a bed cradle...and NOW I hate having the covers on my feet..LOL!
YES..a warmer, dryer clime certainly helps the arthritis...it is very cold here, too...and I drink a lot of Ginger tea..it has properties that really help! Take care...and miss you!
