Why, Jane Carrey, Why?

I see it differently actually. I think it is GREAT that she did not rely on her fathers fame to make it. That would be the easy way to go. I was inspired by her that she told the show she wants to make her own way for herself. Shes not another Miley Cyrus that just got famous because of her dads fame. She could have very easily done so. Good for her doing things the right way and getting somewhere for what SHE has actually done. Not what her father has done for her...

Because like Jane said she wanted to make a name for herself not because she's the daughter of someone famous, but because she has the talent and the determination to succeed. She wants to earn the success, I guess. I don't think she wants to be successful just because she's Jim Carrey's daughter.

Personally I was a little shocked as well. Seriously, this will make many people think twice about this show, unless she does not even get a chance, and it was just to maybe showcase her in case someone is watching? To me there are definately better singing competitions out there now that give real people more of a chance. Wonder if this is just to help keep American Idol stable financially?

I regret not having watched AI this year yet. Was surprised to hear about her on the news. Why shouldn't she use the show as a platform to accomplish her dream, like thousands of others, to become a singing celebrity? She doesn't want to ride on her dad's name, was what the news reported. What it failed to mention was that she wasn't raised by her dad, instead living with her divorced mother. In fact, I remember from back in the 90's, there were media/celebrity gossip reports about her not being financially supported by her dad growing up. If that was credible, it just follows that she wouldn't hit her famous father for money to help launch her singing career. I don't know what their relationship is like now. I hope it's better for both of them. As for ratings, AI (and shows like it) relies on it.

I heard about this today . When I did I was like seriously? Maybe Jane Carrey did this to get attention? Maybe from dad? Maybe American Idiol is scripted! I never have watched it but I know alot of friends who do. Some have stopped watching because they feel the same way you do! You are right if Jane Carrey wanted to make it to the top she could get dad to get her there! Maybe is all for ratings! If it is American Idiol's doing it is time for the show to end!

Well American Idol runs on ratings. Do you really thing they put william hung on TV because he could sing? I mean come on first of all you cant believe you get to see the judges right when you get there. You actually go through almmost a week of auditions throughout the week you will audition in front of different judges. Its actually kind of weird how they do it all. The judges in the first couple days will put the bad people through just for ratings and you can really have all good singers in the world so putting through the bad ones will help with the ratings as well. American idol is a great show and yes im still going to watch it even if Jim Carreys daughter is still on it, she has stated she wants to do something with her life and not hide behind her famous dad and she wants to step out into the spot light and do something for herself. Yes her dad has the money but she doesnt and maybe she wants to make something for herself because she now has a little one in her life as well.

Yeah you are right, maybe it is just promotion of the show as well as promotion of herself, before doing an album.
