I just had over 3 quarts of ice cream in 3 days. Lately once I start it is hard to stop. I eat a large bowl full and then another one right after. Amazingly I haven't gained any weight from doing this, but I know it is not healthy. I only get ice cream when it is on sale but there have been several sales lately. After eating over 1.5 qt. yesterday, I'm going to try to cut back today. Wish me luck.

Hello! Eating ice cream daily and in large quantity is not a healthy thing to do. It is a good thing that you do not gain weight easily. They say you will just feel its ill effect as you age. This is so, because the unnecessary accummulation of sugar in your diet, as in the case of ice cream you are taking these days, will take its toll on your health later. Though, sometimes the right exercise and abrupt change in lifestyle for the better may help too before illness sets in..

Hi stealthy, I can really relate to your delima...I love ice cream
and I have eaten exactly the same amounts...
Its like you get on the "got to haves" and you want what you want...
I am going through that right now with salads...just lettuce, grated
cheese, beets, and ranch dressing with some vingarette dressing...I
have had that three times a day for the last 3 days...I am sure I
will be tired of it soon....
Good luck with the ice cream streak!!!!!

Good for you that you don't gain weight even though you eat a lot of ice cream this past days.I like to eat ice cream too especially when it is hot or even when it is cold too.I do eat ice cream two days in a right, yesterday a double dutch flavor brought by one of our supplier and I do ate 2 mugs. Then today too, a cookies and cream one from a birthday celebrant (an office mate) and ate 2 mugs too.I don't know what would be next for tomorrow hehehe.

I don't think it should be too difficult to cut back. I don't know of anyone who can keep eating ice cream at that rate for very long. I doubt if a three or four day binge is really going to do you any lasting harm. Time to move on to something else. Pie anyone?

I love ice cream a lot too and wish I could eat it more often.
Currently my favorite ice cream is butterscotch ripple, and at the moment I feel like I could eat a truckload of the heavenly stuff.
I wish you extremely good luck stealthy I know its hard. =)

I'm having the same problem.... I'll eat half a litre tub in one go. I also only buy it on special, the fancy stuff and I buy 2 or sometimes 3 tubs at once.
There's an elderly lady who farms cattle just outside of town and she told me she lives on ice cream. She won't eat meat and she doesn't like veggies. She's not overly large but she's not slim either. She works hard all the time.
I say, don't worry about it!

i like ice cream as well, especially in the summer when it gets really hot. however, i cant eat too much because i find that it really affects my asthma and makes me start coughing, but when its really hot, i do eat some.
you could use the ice cream as a treat or reward after you complete something.

I would take great care if I found myself craving for ice-cream as sugar is not only very addictive, but has adverse health effects when used in the long term. I was once addicted and if I started to eat anthing that contained sugar I found it diffictul to stop. I ended up feeling quite ill and visited a "food doctor" who compared sugar with a poison. It was not easy to quit eating sweet foods, but I committed to it and did it, and in my opinion, saved my health.. Dr. Mercola has a lot to say about the problems with sugar.. http://www.mercola.com (just type sugar into the earch box there - not a referral link). Take care.. _Derek

I did that a few years ago eating ice cream. I went through like a week doing it and finally I got sick of eating so much ice cream! I think I did it becasue I was more stressed out at that time! I still love ice cream I just don't eat it constantly anymore.

I don't eat ice cream in the winter, I get too cold. In the summer however, I can't get enough of it. I have one bowl and then want another. I could probably eat the whole container at one time, but I am too lazy to get up to get more. I'm surprised you haven't gained weight from eating it. Good Luck on cutting back!

I read the first page of this discussion and they all are right : ice cream is unhealthy and contains a lot of sugar.
I think you can try having a frozen yogurt instead of ice cream : a frozen yogurt is made of frozen fruits ( like banana , strawberries , pineapples and etc...) and a piece of frozen yogurt (and it is sweet but more healthy because of yogurt advantages). You try many mixes of the fruits that you like.
Hey , maybe you can make your own I-scream at home , using natural fruits that are frozen and grated ? I like just pilling a banana and freez in in the freezer until it is hard but eatable.

I think sometimes our body will have a special need suddenly. And this is why we want to eat something badly. So perhaps this can explain why you often eat ice cream lately. Since you don't feel any uncomfortable after that, it is OK.

hi stealthy I doubt if ice cream is unhealthy for normal people
who can assimilate and handle glucose with a normal pancreas.
for me the sugar can make my blood sugar climb high which as a
diabetic in not good at all.but stealthy surely you do not skip the healthy fruits and veggies you should be eating too. ice cream should be eaten by a half cup ful as a dessert not gorged on as
thats really unhealthy to eat like that. you need your colorful fuits and veggies everyday plus some protein. use ice cream only as a dessert. okay good luck.

Well, you can actually control your lust for icecream. Just control yourself, everything is in your head.

I also like eating ice cream especially if I'm reviewing for my exam or when I'm depressed but I don't eat that much maybe the maximum I consumed was 1 pint in one day then I will eat again after a month or weeks.
