Did anyone else see the story on this? I am shocked that a parent would let their child eat only chicken nuggets for years! Can you imagine the health issues that young girl is going to have in her life? It said that during the exam doctors were shocked to find that she had never in her life eaten fruit and vegetables. I am just stunned!

The parents should be charged with neglegence. It is common sense that your body needs proper nutrition to live a healthy life. That was just sad.

kids are really like that. They only eat what they want and what they want are hotdogs, nuggets, and all those fancy foods available in fast foods. Mothers should make sure that they don't indulge their kids' fancy all the time. They have to give them a variety of foods so they won't get addicted to only one.

I've seen this discussion on the Yahoo!. I feel so sad for the child that her parent were not able to discipline her eating habits. I think it would be much better that parents should set example on what we are going to eat.

that sounds horrible, how can you eat the same thing over and over again i am surprised the boy wasnt sick earlier. You are right though how can a parent allow this to happen.

I have to read this story. My 8-year-old son loves eating chicken nuggets since he was 5. It's a staple food for him if the food prepared isn't to his liking. But we do complement his meal with some veggies and he loves eating fruits. But this topic of yours sure had alarmed me. Although it's a bit extreme. I mean, I didn't know that it was possible for parents to be so irresponsible to feed their child a single type of food for years. Chicken nuggets isn't that cheap, so I don't think it's an issue of finances.

That is just crazy. I love chicken nuggets also, but I can't eat them everyday. I get bored if I eat the same food everyday of my life. For sure it's the parents fault. They just gave her nuggets after nuggets and no other food. If she would have eaten red meat, she wouldn't be anemic since red meat haves iron. If she wanted nuggets, the parents should have given her a fruit and some vegetables for her to eat with her nuggets so at least she can get some vitamins in her system, but they didn't even do that. I'm in shock that they let their daughter be addicted to nuggets.

How can that poor girl only chow down on chicken nuggets? Wouldn't you just get sick and tired of eating the same things over and over again. How did she even manage that?! I would need some sort of fruit or vegetable or at least eat something different, I could never eat the same thing day and night for years! She is definitely going to have lots of health issues! Chick nuggets are fried and she's eating a lot of fat in there. She is probably lacking a lot of vital vitamins and nutrients too. I'm quite shocked how her body was able to manage.

It is easy to produce off-springs but responsible parenting seems too hard to do when all it needs is just a bit of common sense and love. Although the story says it started when she was just 2 years old, I've had a hard time to understand how a 2 year-old could've just had nuggets until she was 5 or 6 years old. If it is true, her parents are to be blamed. It is a sad story of a helpless child.

I didn't read about this story. Do you know what illness the teen developed?
Some children are very picky. My son was one of those too. As an infant he swallowed anything put into his mouth. Then he turned 2 and refused to eat everything. I tried day and night to no avail. It was not a fun time at all. Tried every trick in the book and called in the troops for help too. (Parents and other family members.) Nothing. This was very difficult for me since I cook every night, don't go to fast food places and develop a full balanced meal with healthy foods all the time.
He would eat chicken cutlets or nuggets, French fries, waffles and pancakes at that point. He did eat many fruits and loved broccoli, string beans and corn. Spent a fortune going to dozens of doctors and they all said the same thing. He was healthy and when his taste buds and desire grow so will his choices in foods grow.
It was amazing to not see a child have that want for mac and cheese, ice cream, hamburgers or hot dogs. Those things he finally decided to try one day and loved them. He was 10 years old at that time.
Today he eats us out of house and home. A teenager who is thin, muscular, never misses a day of school, never sick, on the honor roll with a huge appetite. His list of foods today that he refuses to touch are pickles, olives, mushrooms and cabbage. Anything else put in front of him gets devoured before you finish putting your plate together.
Each child is different. There has to be more to this story than just chicken nuggets. And then again the parents may not have gone to the extreme to find out if more could be done and give in to the child without trying to introduce other foods. I tried, he refused but was always under a doctors care to be sure and seek if there were other ways to remedy the situation. He was the only one that was stubborn and extremely picky.
Without knowing the condition and illnesses she has been prone to it is hard to say whether her eating habit is cause for it or if genetics has a major part in the issue.

oh no. The chicken nuggets for years? and not eaten fruit or vegies? what kind of mom would want to do that to their kids? I think her body get used to it, and then cannot take it anymore, that's why she got sick. I'm sorry for her. Maybe there's still a way this can be cure or something.

I have just read about this article and i am surprised how it happened imagine eating only nuggets your whole life? How terrible is that i mean how her parents let her be that way.. Feel sorry for that girl i wish she could recover.. This is a reminder to us parents to be more responsible.. And most espcially give the right foods to your kids
