hi adhyz82 I am an American from California in the US I pnly know battik as a form of art. But every day here in our mylot I can reach across many miles and many countries and learn new things . I can
see this has much greater significance to you and your countrymen
as a thing of pride. So now we do not use batik but I am wanting to
know more about it and the meaning of it.You wear batik as clothing
for honoring your cultural heritage? am I getting close to the
meaning? do tell me more please. Are they sort of a uniform but with
greater meaning? thanks for helping me to learn.

I wear batik every Thursday and Friday. I wear it on Sunday when I am supposed to come to a wedding party or other ceremonies. I am not proud of batik. I I just have to wear it. If you ask em whether I like it or not, I'll answer yes, my brother. By the way, when will you send me a pack of Kendari coffee?

We, employees in Lampung, have to abide by the local government rule that requires all government employees to wear Lampung Batik. Wearing batik on Friday is national wide, isn't it.

Happy Saturday adhyz82 :D
Yes of course I know batik and always wear batik every Friday in my office or if I attend some formal meetings ...
Based on the UNESCO Committee, Indonesian Batik has a rich symbolism related to social status, local community, nature, history, and cultural heritage...
If you love batik so much, and want to learn how to make batik with "canting", just come to Museum Bank Mandiri at Kota Tua, Jakarta or visit the site of it www.mbatikyuuuk.com to get the schedule... The lady who runs the website is my lecturer when I was in college :D and she dedicates her life to batik...
cheers

Yes, I know about batik clothes.
In my country, they became popular when professional people started wearing them with formal cut or design.
Other people imitated them and worn it too.
It maybe that it is not only beautiful to look at but it is also unique.

aul0982 yes, I have a batik pair. it is coloered green with batik white designs in it.
Batik here in the philippines is becoming a formal dress.
People use them during wedding occasions, important meetings, graduation rites and other formal occasions.
adhyz, Filipinos know that batik is from Indonesia.
Most of the filipinos from the southern part of the philippines have batik clothes because they are nearer your country.
Some of their customs have similarities with yours.

Wow! I live in Java Island, and I've known Javanese language since my childhood.
But I've just get to know the meaning of batik from your post! Hahaha...
In my last 2 office, there were never any official rule for the employees to use batik in certain days. But sometimes, me and my colleagues were agreed to use batik together in Friday. Since it's only a deal between fellow colleagues, so sometimes, one of us didn't wear it, including me. :)
But it's nice to wear Batik. Make us proud as Indonesian :D
