This question makes me feel confused and puts me in state of dilemma every time it strikes my mind.
What i feel is that the ultimate aim of life is to become a GOOD HUMAN BEING.
But when i think about my materialistic and non materialistic needs and wants ,i feel that being a good human being can seldom let one to fulfill all his dreams and desires.
In other words, it is a must for a person to select between these two viz.-DREAMS/DESIRES and BEING A GOOD HUMAN BEING.:)
What do you feel about it?
What do you think about it?

Hey. thats a nice question which you have posted. Almost everyone has to face this at some or the other point. In my opinion the ultimate aim of one's life should be to be happy and satisfied; for which one should maintain a balance between dreams/desires and being a good human being. On compromising on either of these one cannot stay happy. Therefore a person should pursue his/ her dream by being a good human being. By hurting people you may feel happy for a while, but in the long run you will surely repent your actions.
It means that if you have a dream then try to accomplish it without hurting anyone. This would bring permanent satisfaction to you.

The ultimate aim of our life is to be happy. We should make our life a well spent life. Let us not be greedy. Let us share what we have to those who don't have it.

When I was in high school (mind you, that was not a long time ago, hehehe...), I was a member of a marian catholic organization called Youth Marian Crusade. It was an organization of catholic youths from various schools that are being thought on catholic living by seminarians.
In one of the catechism discussions, that question was asked and the answer was simple: to be happy. Because of that answer, I began to question my faith and was motivated to seek other sources for an answer, including the Bible.
It was only through a single man that I have come to find the answer:
"Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep His commandments, for this is the whole duty of man." --- Ecclesiastes 12:13
"For we are His workmanship, created i Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them." --- Ephesians 2:10
I believe that by achieving this, everything will come into place at the right time and manner.

i think if you think to be a good human being then you have even a vast option of letting you dreams form in a way that fulfill some sense of you being a god human being.
its nothing harm if you crave for your desires as every individual has the complete right of seeking what they want in their live provided that it is not harming others or affecting other's life in a negative way.
the choice is yours. being a human we have all the options to ourselves.
we are well aware of our needs and the circumstance's need and the major priorities of life making it work for others too.
we individual once started thinking and considering the duties and responsibilities of ours can even make us achieve dreams which are much much bigger than what you wished for.
Best wishes.

I have spent a rather large amount of time thinking about what I want to do with my life, and I have to say that my life aims are actually rather simple. Some people want to be famous and have lots of money, but I would rather just be happy with the people who I love, and be able to have children and give them a really good life that I could be very proud of. My parents did a wonderful job with me, and I would like to be able to do the same thing with my children if there was any possible chance that I would be able to do that.

There is only one thing that I can think of as my ULTIMATE goal. And that is to serve someone other than me. lol

Well, for me I would call it purpose. Purpose in a sense that God will direct me to what his plan for my life is. Sometimes we people tend to see things in a literal way, thus leaving us wondering on what our really aim is or purpose in life. What we need to do is to see the bigger picture lean on to God, and he will reveal the plans that he has for each and every one of us.

Being a good human been, I think should be everyone's obvious aim in life. I mean there are goals that everyone wants but really I mean lets be serious. Most of us never get to accomplish are real goals. Why? Because the ultimate aim in life kicks in being a good human being. For me at least. I had my son when I was 20 almost going on 21. I could of just got an abortion. Instead I chose to have my son. I have a big goal that I want to accomplish but the way things look I don't think it will ever happen. I care more about him than myself. I think being a great person or "ultimate human being" is some one who really cares more about others around them or not around them verses caring about themselves. Most people only care about themselves. It's so much easier to say me, me, me instead of them, them, them. So that's my two cents.

The ultimate aim of my life is being happy. Happiness is a simple word with great meaning. U can have half of the world, but if u're not happy, then it's useless. However, people often forget what is the ultimate happiness. :P Being a good human is one of the ways to be happy. So there's no need to be in dilemma for this. :) I know being a good person is not easy, but it will never disappoint us.

Wow, That's a good thing to realize my friend. TO BECOME A GOOD HUMAN BEING. It's good to know that there are still people who come to realize that. Actually, It's not that I'm trying to copy your ultimate goal in life. But the truth is that, we have the same realization in life. I remember when i was in highschool, and we're asked to write our name, age, birthday, ambition in life. So what i answered in my ambition or goal in life is that "to become a successful nurse and always be a good person". I'm a successful nurse now, and so far so good,i think i'm being a good person. and i will always be. I hope that there are a lot of people who will realize that.
