My computer have broken. So, I want to buy a new ones.
I think that a laptop is better than a computer because I live in a rent room and I often travel.
Because I must use some strong software as Photoshop or Corel, so I need an enough strong laptop. A laptop right that is quire expensive. I'm going to buy an old.
Do you think this is well? My friend said that old laptop is not problem because laptop is not usually opened to change components.

Thank you for your advice. I'll do it. There are many people here said that I shouldn't buy the second hand laptop. So, I think I'll save more money to buy a new one. I'll borrow an other laptop from my friend :)

I don't think that buying a used or old laptops and electronics in general is a good idea. Laptop do get opened to fix and change components. You may think that you are saving money by buying a used laptop but in the long run I think it will be wiser to buy a new one.
I would rather buy a new one and give more money and having it for years than buying an old one for less money but will not last or needs constant repairing.

I heart that laptop is quite difficult to open and to change components. It's right, isn't it? I think that you're right that an old laptop will take much money repairing.

I would not refrain you from buying an old laptop, but you must consider the following aspects before going for an old laptop:
1 What configuration is it having and How old is it?
2 Warranty(it is recommended to go for a lappy having warranty of at least 1-2 months)
3 Who has been using it till now and why is he willing to sell it
4 CONDITION of the laptop.
5 Upgradability .
6 PRICE
7 The person you are buying from is reliable and trustworthy.
I hope it would help you.:)

Old laptop here means that second hand laptop or old fashion laptop? If you want to buy a second hand laptop, then i am disagree since you dont know how about the hardware works. Is that the hardware still function well or? So if you want to buy a second hand laptop, you must ask clearly. But if you mean to buy a old fashion laptop, but is totally new, then i think is ok for you.

As long as the second hand laptop works, why not?
Just check it thoroughly and do a burn in test to see if there is a defect.

If you are using the laptop for work or business, I suggest you invest on a new laptop instead. You don't know if an old laptop might have some problems in the future and might give you an even bigger problem.
If its more of just a personal use, then buy a second hand one. But you need to make sure that the second hand laptop is in very good condition. If you can look for a Best buy laptop which still has warranty on it then the better. Always make sure your important files are backed up in case something happens.

For me, I'm not advise to buy old/used laptop. Imagine that if there is something wrong especially hardware, how much you gonna pay for the replaced part ? Furthermore, if the laptop has no parts to replace, then you need to throw it away without any help. A life circle of a laptop is around five years, so you better think twice.

I really prefer a laptop too. However, I discovered that a desktop computer seems to last long. We've bought 2 desktops in the last 15 years. The last desktop was mearly an upgrade. The old one still worked great. We've had to by 3 laptops. Two of the laptops crashed within a year and no way to recover them. We tryed everything to include taking them to specialist. The one I'm using now we got about a year ago. So hopefully, it will hold up longer then the last one did. Happy computer hunting. Best Wishes!

when you buy second hand laptops you should buy only from known people and not from outsiders. It is better to buy a new one. I suggest you buy HP laptop new one.

Never.
Never buy any old laptop.
One time you have to arrange some money but new laptops are the best.

its good that you have decided to buy a laptop and it will be of immense help to you compared to your Personal Computer.
but if you ask for my advice i would suggest you to buy a new one rather than second hand.
a laptop have many complications and it need good maintenance ,software and of course an antivirus.
i have this friend of mine who had opted for an old laptop few years back and within a week it started showing problems.my friend has to spent additional sum of money to fix it but still he was not happy with its result and within a month or two he purchased a new one.

I have a laptop computer and I like it. It's portable so I can use it anywhere that is handy for you if you travel a lot. If you can afford to buy a new one then do that with technology changing all the time it might be a good idea. If not maybe a used computer may be alright too. My advice would be to shop around for the best deal. good luck my my lot friend.

in my case i also like to buy a laptop, i am thinking also to buy old style laptop or vs. new style laptop. because for me i think old and new have a little bit similarity like processors, memory like that. if you like colorful, fashionable spec wise laptop you may buy the new, but if you like only specs wise and you are not into fashionable laptop, you may buy old style laptop but good specs :)

I would advise not to buy a used laptop and when you do buy get the best one you can afford. My Tohiba Satellite L500-19x which is now going into it's third year. This makes it old in laptop terms but will not be expected to run any new programs. It's fine for now but will probably let me down in the next 2.5 years. I will be disappointed but will have had my moneys worth.
