No, it is not good to live with the past memories. Only those good past memories should be treasured. But you don't live with it, because it will surely happen again. We must lived forward and leave things behind. And no matter how hard we try, we can'r bring back the past. And it is not healthy to live with regrets.

As a Zen practitioner, my aim each day is to let go of the past. The only reality is here and now. The past is gone. To have memories is OK, but to expect the past to repeat itself isn't really going to work. Similar things can happen, but we won't experience in exactly the same way. Meditation is the art of letting go, focusing on what is here and now, and then moving on. _Derek

There are a lot of things that have happened in my life in the past. I'm trying to live in the present as I know we can't go back, we can't change things that we did or didn't do, or change directions. So I have to do my best to live in the present, make decisions wisely and look forward to the future. If I do these things I will be able to find contentment and be happy with what I have done and carried out.

Yes, I think it would better if we forget our past except those lessons we learned and move on. It is better if we concentrate on the present and prepare for the future. Our past are already part of our history and we cannot change anything about it. Happy mylotting!

Remembering the past is essential due to the fact that we made many errors. Some of us, many many errors. Yet, to forget the past would be about as bad as sweeping all of those mistakes under the rug. Making a mistake is fine, it is human, but not learning from said mistakes are something that can be rather bad. It can be an awful experience.
I think that in the back of my mind, I remember a lot that has happened in the past. A lot of it is just fluff but some of it is extremely useful. A lot of the time, when we neglect to remember the past mistakes, we are rather going to be doomed to repeat what errors we made. The past is important in many ways, as it shapes our present, which we use it to shape the future.

hello,
There are lot of memories stored in our mind either good or bad and it really depends on how we look at it. And if its about learning about our past maybe it will help us. Sometimes we have to live in the past memories because this was what we want for. We should move on and start something new.

Past and pleasant memories are life’s experiences and lessons learned. If you have some good memories of your childhood you will always love to cherish it forever. Isn’t it? Any incident which hurt you, we do try to forget it and get along with the present. But sometimes some of our past memories do not fade away quickly and we take a lot of time to uplift ourselves over a period of time. Yeah, I always love to remember all the good things happened to me and others are part of learning which we call it as experience.

We do forget our past, each day we live we also forget a part. Our memory is not able to remember everything. So we remember what we need to live on, to survive, or what is a lesson to us. So it's also not weird to remember only the bad things, since these are the warnings (even though we like to ignore them).
There is nothing wrong with having memories, living with them. It all depends on what place they play in your life or you let them play and if you are able to live now too.

Past memories are things that we have shared with others and are part of us always. They are learning experiences for the present and to pass along to our children. Memories are precious and should be treasured and not forgotten. Generations down the road will wonder what it was like way back then and they will have stories to listen to or words in a journal to read about their relatives and what life was like then.
Hold on to all your memories!

A part of me today is based on what I have been trough in the past so there is really no way that I will forget my past. Sure there are things that wish to forget but that is just a small portion of my memory.
There are things that sometimes I wish I have a selective memory so I can forget those that I want to forget but then again the brain is not a computer where in we can select what to erase and what not to :)

it is a learning experience for me to look back at my past and remember the good and the bad memories. it is impossible for me to go on with the present and move forward into the future without ever looking back but i don't dwell on it... it wouldn't be healthy for my mind and for my body.
