There are at least 52 people were killed when 6.9 magnitude earthquake hit Negros and Cebu shortly before noon February 6, 2012. The earthquake caused landlines and huge cracks on highways and violently shook buildings. The earthquake happened yesterday is one of the strongest ever recorded. Let us pray for the souls of the people died because of tragedy. I hope that God will guide the rescuers so that they can find the victims underground. Is there a way in which we can determined that earthquake will happen?

A prayer would be a great help. Let us give some amount of our money to the victims. A little love gift will really help them to buy foods and shelter.

Let us be prepared. I know God has a purpose why this is happening to our country. We never know when we will die. So let us continue to praise God because He will not give all these things to happen to us if without reason.

This is very sad.
We know very well that the number of fatalities will increase since there are lots of people trapped inside their houses and buildings.
Let's hope and pray there will be no more aftershock to make the rescue operation become smooth.

Thanks for the comment jaiho2009. Yes, there are still many people trapped or underground. I hope they will be able to find by the rescuers. Only God knows why is this happening to our country. God has purpose. Lets join our hands to help them.

Earthquakes can be really deadly when you are in a place that is not safe, like tall buildings that are not firm. You could get killed by anything solid nearby that topples on you like posts or trees. We hope and pray that nothing of this sort will happen again. This is really scary.

Yes, let us pray for these souls. It was unfortunate that such a thing happened and the people were unprepared for it. I heard on news that a female survived because she was on an errand and her whole family perished in a landslide. I wish I could help but there is nothing I can do but pray for them. Different organizations are doing what they can to provide the needs of these people. Let us pray and wait for this to pass. Let us do what we can do and let the others who can really help do their job.

This has been a very unfortunate event that displace many Filipino lives and damages some infrastructures. They need our prayers for them to stay strong to move on and start a new beginning. Our government should stay focus first in rendering rehabilitation and life support for our fellow Filipinos. Once again we are facing this hardship in our country wherein the brotherhood and camaraderie of Philippines Society is put to test.

There are still some aftershocks after that earthquake. We somehow became paranoid to it, fearing that it might be a strong one. There was a mass panic and hysteria after the earthquake here in Cebu as people feared that there might have a tsunami coming from the coastal area. People ran all over the place and there was traffic everywhere. Classes got suspended as well. I hope that there won't be another earthquake like that and also may the victims find a refuge and a good place to stay.
As for your last question, no, there is no way to know if a an earthquake will happen. Even the Japanese people who is used to having earthquakes didn't anticipate the earthquake that they had last year. No matter how advance they are, they don't have a machine that could calculate when and where there will be an earthquake. Fortunetellers like Mdm. Auring couldn't even predict themselves when an earthquake will happen to our country (lol). All we could do is to pray to God to spare us from different kinds of calamities. :)

We don't have the capability yet to determine when the earthquake will happen. Natural calamities could not be determined easily as of now. I hope someday, we will have that technology. But first thing, we must educate our people first on what to do when this occurs. Then, we must make our structures strong enough to withstand earthquakes just like Japan buildings. Lastly, we should always pray to God that we will be safe always.

The earthquake hit Cebu and Negros, but I am sorry, I have to correct your title. There were no deaths recorded in Cebu, or not that I know of when the earthquake happened. And I would like to thank you for posting this so that there will be many more people who will pray for us and the victims of the earthquake.
Welcome to Mylot by the way!

the earthquake caused a huge panic in cebu city, in fact it even caused more damage than the quake itself.
