Why do people Lie?

There are two rather key reasons I think. There are many more but I think that as of this time, this is why people do in fact like lie. For one, they just fear the truth. They do not want to live up what is really happening around them. They do not want to acknowledge the mistakes of life, the flaws of the world, and what has really occurred. Deep down they may know it is wrong, but they simply don't want to completely acknowledge. Then there are those who have convinced themselves that what they are saying, what lies that are spewing is in fact the gospel truth. There are times where people tend to lie, but they have gone to the point where their lies have warped an entirely new reality in their mind. If they had told the truth, their lies would have distorted it into such a way where they would think that the truth is lying. Sad but unfortunately true.

Every lie is different. A few fix the situation while many other make things worse. Lies regarding a person's or self's integrity are one of the most prevalent in society. New thoughts over the person are formed but almost all are lies and there is no initiative to check the thoughts for their validity thus they are produced as lies. What's unusual is the multitude of interests of the person get in the way of successfully differentiating lie from truth. The person sees the need to be relieved from stress while ignoring the habit in going deep to get the truth and avoid lies. I guess the ego is more important than the philosophy.

I don' think that lie is necessary to be done, but we can not deny about people who tell lie to someone. I don't know why people should tell a lie, I knew there might be some reason behind lies. I do lies sometime for special reason. My reason was I didn't want people knowing my secret. I was sure that people has a secret that we may sometime feel shy to uncover it to the surface. People apparently don't want to tell lie but because they are forced to do that because of the reasons.

To be honest I tell the truth almost all the time to everyone. Especially to those I care about. And I expect it in return. Reasons? Well.. Because I think it's easier for me to have a clear conscious then to think about what I've said. Lies are hard to say, they stick to your brain, they are heavy. Also if it's a return-to fact you have to remember the lies so you won't get uncovered later. It's a too heavy burden. Because I think it's fair for someone to know the truth even if it hurts, at least they know what they're dealing with, really, not apparently. Because the truth might help in future decisions, for example if I tell the truth about someone's looks, clothing, it might help them. If I lie they might feel good about it for the moment, but might have to deal with the truth coming from somewhere else later so why wait? Because the lies eventually come to light, sooner or later, one way or another. Why and when I lie in certain cases.. For example if I don't have time to meet with someone because I have something to do, somewhere to go or other meetings that they have no connection to, I just say I have dinner with my parents or that I have to leave town, so I don't have to sit and tell stories about who and what.. Or when I get an advantage out of it, like money or favors, or appreciation for something I have already done, or something I already have, I say I have it, or I've done it and solve it meanwhile, if I think I can. I call it anticipation. Like I'm an architect, and if someone asks if I can draw them a sketch for a house or something, I either say I already have some sketches that might fit, and even if I don't I do them meanwhile before a set meeting. Or I say I can draw them in a few days even if I already have them drawn just to buy some free time for myself and then I bring them out. Basically it's alteration of the truth when I lie. But when it's between yes or no, something that can't be altered easily and fast, I choose the truth. It's easier and always with better consequences long term.

we are not perfect we all lie it is our defense mechanism to cover up our mistakes or secret and so on it is a way to to protect of our self. i used to lie for my own protection even though to my family,friends etc. its better for me to lie than to tell them the truth.

Maybe bcoz they just want not to tell u the truth.or they wanted to call them liars in any ways. For me i dont like to tell lies.am honest.But there were times that we cant avoid it so that wecan escape of telling the truth.

Thing is, the rules about lies and the truth can be switched around. Lying is not always bad and it is not always a good to be honest. People lie for so many reasons: To get ahead, to prevent hurt feelings ,to get what they want, to protect themselves

lying is what we are prohibited from doing it. If you lie you are not honest. I know it's often difficult not to lie but if we struggle hard trying not to lie, I am sure we'll get used to it.

I think that as humans, and having the basic nature of not wanting to hurt anybody, we are prone to lying. Sometimes it's easy to lie to spare someone else's feelings. Although there are some who carry lying into an art form. They tangle webs of stories that aren't truthful so as to dupe somebody else for money or for some other gain.

I would rather hurt by the truth rather than be happy with a lie. telling a lie is like fooling yourself not just once. the truth hurts as the saying goes but what could be more painful than knowing you have lied to and been happy with that lie for a long time? i really can not understand what lies are for when the truth will always comes out no matter how deep you dig it. yes it will relieve from seeing your friend, mother or wife be disappointed but then again how could you take all the eys that will look at you when finally they know the truth. lies whether it is a white lie is a no no for me. better to be hurt once know than be hurt more than twice tomorrow.

the word lie has very wide range of definitions, It is something spoken or written that gives fraudulent information and an act of dishonesty. people lie because they refuse, defend and control life situations. Lie is a way of hiding the truth, although sometimes can have exceptional advantage such as white lies.

People lie to save themselves from negative circumstances. Others lie for fun such us making up funny stories. It's really impossible for a person not to commit a lie in a day. It can happen even in simple situations that can be answered by yes or no, e.g. When a person asked you if she is beautiful, wherein she thinks she really is, and you answered Yes even if you mean No and kept it to yourself so as not to hurt her feelings, then you have already lied. Lying can be constructive (when you do it to cause good things to happen) or destructive (if it means to destroy the reputation of a person) depending on how a person do it.

People lie for a reason. Sometimes we lie to make it easier for ourselves. Sometimes we also lie to protect others. Whatever your reason for lying, just remember that it will haunt you sooner or later. Well, unless you have no conscience. LOL

We lie to not get in trouble, to not hurt someone, someone have better opinion for us etc.

no one can ever say they will never lie because if they do then that is a lie. i accept that at certain times it is justifiable to lie or at least amend , bend or withhold the truth as it may cause further harm or heartache. but if you are lying just for pleasure to deceive or to cover up something you did wrong and are too scare to admit it then i will never accept that. unfortunately with some people to lie is just a matter of course and they think nothing of it. to these people i would always confront them with the lie to let them know they are not as smart or clever or deceitful as they think and that lying is not a course of action to take.

Lying is when people look different than they are. People are afraid to live their lives, it is easier to live on others, although it seems unlikely to happen. I could say I lost a lot because I always say what they think, but say we did not lose anything of value. The value of a human character, all come up when you tell them clearly, honestly what you think. Just stay with those who like to live nice, clean and love life. I tell others to leave because I do not mind, on the contrary.

Hi! I think people lie to protect someone or even themselves but no matter what the reason is lying is really not a good thing to do.Some people may have peace for doing it but eventually the worst happens when truth is reaveled. Trust is destroyed,feelings have been hurt,disappointment happens. The end result is not really that good.I myself do this at times but I want to change it.

Imagine the world with everyone telling truth only. All balance of functioning of societies would spoil. Truth is like Sun, but night too is unavoidable, as lie exist in society. Damages brought by lies are always rectified by the powerful truth. It is the secret point of the human's life drama for ever.
