I have attempted many times and failed miserably. I really want to follow through and read the entire bible in 1 year. If you have been successful in doing this, what is your secret. How did you manage to complete it and not get discouraged or distracted?

i really do think that reading the bible is hard every time i try to read it. i really don't understand what its talking about most of the time because i guess that its old English. but i been trying to read the bible like yesterday i was reading it and i just could't really understand it.its embarrassing to say but the only way i could read the bible is like the children bible i think that its fun and easy to read. well if you don't want to be distracted from reading the bible then just read in a quite room. and you could just take notes that always help.

I like reading the New International Version or (NIV) bible. It is in a little better form of English and easier to understand but still it gets quite confusing and hard to understand.

I too made many attempts before to read the bible but all were failures. I am really ashamed about this. I'll make time for this eventually and have this finished. If you can finish the Bible in a year, that's good. If less than that time, great! But I think that the best way to read it as well as any other book is to do it when you are in a relaxed state of mind and body so that you can easily absorb the words and thoughts that the Bible wants to convey. Don't force yourself to finish it in a specific date or time. Just continue enjoying what the Bible has to offer. You can do it! :)

That is good advice. If we try to set ourselves with a deadline we could get discouraged if we run behind or read too fast and not absorb the true meanings in what we are reading.

I was able to almost make it through. I made it through the New Testiment and halfway through the Old. I ended up letting other things come in the way of my Bible reading and I actually feel horrible about it. I'm trying to wake up early to read it before my day begins and at the end of the night.

Years back I read it through within a year a number of years. I think there was one year I read it through twice. There was also one year I had to read through the entire KJV in consecutive order in order to qualify for my license with the Eastern District of the Assemblies of God (now called Penn Del). Before I continue, just to let everyone know, I am no longer with the Assemblies of God and I am independent Pentecostal. To read through the Holy Bible in one year consider reading a minimum of 4 chapters a day. That will actually get you finished sooner. When pressed for time, read some short psalms (individual psalms are not chapters, but consider them as such for this purpose). When you have a lot of time, choose the big psalms like Psalm 119. Read extra, just in case you do have a busy day and cannot read four. Try not to read less than three. Make markings next to book titles in the table of contents when you complete a book and next to the numbers of individual psalms as you read each psalm.

As far as I can remember, I read and studied the bible for four years. Why? I was studying in a Catholic school, way back in High School. Proudly to say, I had learned a lot from the Bible.

I've read it through several times and the best thing I can tell you is to give yourself permission to skip the lists of "begats" or the long roll calls, mostly in the Old Testament. If it's something that's incredibly boring, I go on to the real story. I don't think I'm missing anything that way. I tried several times to read through it and couldn't until I realized that I was getting bogged down in those parts and just didn't have the determination to wade through them. When I can read the interesting parts, I read until I'm tired of reading and sometimes am surprised that I've read 5 or 6 chapters at a time. Other times, it's just one or even a part of one. Reading the Bible should be enjoyable and not a chore, so do what you can to make it a good experience. It's an exciting story, after all!

Bible reading - God's Holy Word is a must-read
Surely Satan will distract you in all ways possible to turn away your attention from reading the Word of God. He never wants us to read the Bible. And all the more he will never want us to read it through and through till we completed reading the whole. But don’t let Satan overrule your heart’s desire. If you truly love God then set aside a special time to read and understand the Bible each day so you can finish it. I went through the same struggle so I fully understand your predicament. You know what helped me finish reading it .... praying. I prayed to God to help me finish reading and not just finish but understand every word. Each time I feel lazy to read or distracted by anything I'd bow my knees and ask the Holy Spirit of God to help me overcome. If one has a Holy Spirit in his heart, one can always ask the Holy Spirit of God to help him read the Bible through and through and learn more and more of God. Only the Holy Spirit can help us overcome the devil's lure, not ourselves because our flesh is weak and will easily surrender.

Hi there! It's a good question. Actually, is in the bible that when you seek Him, you shall find Him. The reason why we have been distracted and would not able to continue doing it because we have to establish relationship with God first and it will just happen in our secret chambers. Secret chambers are your room or place that you can find yourself resting in His presence by listening Christian music. When you listen to it, your heart will open up and when you start to read a bible that would easy to understand because you have received love. when you received to love, you can love back... and would urge you to be hungry more to God's word.. Well, for few days that would be a struggle. But I encourage you to do it at dawn... reading atleast 5 chapters a day.. start with the new testament first. the first 3 chapters in matthew then another three on the next day and continue the same on the next day. then 1 chapter in psalm 1 then next day psalm 2 and 1 proverb. in proverb, for example.. feb. 9, you read the proverb 9... the date is the key there. Find God's message , warning, promises, command that God says to you and apply it :-D hope this could help. I almost read the whole bible for almost 3 years and I was amazed because until now, there's no burden for me tob read it all over again. Blessings to you!! hope I could help!!

If you want to read the whole Bible. First, you must disciplined your self that in that time you must read how many chapter in that book. Second, in reading it must be continued, from Genesis to Revelation. There are 66 books in the Bible. But in reading must be in a room or study room that is not crowded.
