Do you like veggie burgers? Or do you only eat real meat? If you had to make your own veggie burger from scratch, what ingredients would you use? I am thinking about making one like that, and it seems interesting to me. I just don't know where to start.

I got away from eating burgers altogether but the best burger I ever had was a moose burger. This newfoundlander cut up the moose into roasts and ground the good lean meat instead of steaks. One small paddy and I was satisfied, one good burger that was I'll tell you.
I do like a small roast occasionally if I want meat because they make 2 or 3 meals. My veggies if cooked, end up as a stir fry on top of the stove in the big wok.

I know moose sounds a little too gamey that's what I thought when he gave me some. It did not have much fat content though like some beef hamburger in the stores and was not quiet the same as venison. When it comes to meat burgers it was the best. Some all beef hamburgers I've tasted do not seem that way and substitute burgers do not seem real to me?

Yeah I love that! I love eating healthy foods and drinking healthy drinks. Although the taste of veggie based products are not that good as compared to meat based products, but you know, the feeling that you are taking care of your health makes your day! Great food!

noe I will be very interested in any replies here as I was a huge fan of a big take away restaurant that has the best vegir burger ever but recently it came out that their vegie burger had calf rennet in it, and as usual I emailed the company as I and many people who prefer not to eat meat were angry at this, they got back to me and said it is very hard to make a vegie patty without animal product, so I hope someone here has a good recipe for a nice tasting vegie patty as some of the bought ones seem to have a bland taste...

Hi sweetajlo. Healthy is good, and although I wasn't even aiming for healthy I just want to try something different. The legumes you are talking about, they can be black beans, or red lentils, I'm assuming. What types of spices do you use? How do you make the tofu? I am interested!

Maybe you can try some cucumber, tomato and lettuce with mayo along with boiled or fried potatoes in a salad or make a burger with these.

I hate veggie burgers!! If I want a hamburger, I want a big, fat, greasy, meat burger! LOL
I am very interested in meatless cooking and meat reduction. My husband would kill me if I used the word vegetarian, but there are several meatless dishes that are worth trying and incorporating into your regular diet. I recently found a blog called Meatless Meals for Meateaters and it is exactly along the lines of what I am looking for. My goal is to make at least 1 meatless dish every week and maybe increase to 2-3 if my family doesn't notice the difference.

LOL, well don't hold back, say what you mean there! LOL.
Thats a good plan, slowly reducing meat consumption and gradually not noticing the results may work even for your hubby especially if he ends up liking all the new meatless recipes. Good luck with it all, I hope he and the rest of the family loves everything you make.

hi nailtech I used to buy soy in sort of granules like hamburger and make my veggieburgers and I really liked the taste. not quite hamburger but it had a delicious flavor to it and no animal
fat either. Those already made in the fro zen food aisle are some
of them pretty expensive. my soy granules were not as expensive
and had the same good flavor too.they look like ground hamburger but are soy.

Hi Hatley~ Do you remember where you purchased those granules? Was it at a health food store? I'm interested in trying them, if I can get ahold of it that is. I know there must be so many other options too, I like the idea of some soy based products altogether.

Why don't you try a veggie burger? Instead of meat, substitute it with banana blossom, unless if you have one in your area. It is very yummy since it is really vegetable based only mixed with egg and flour.

I like eating burgers in fast foods every time I go there to eat.I haven't try a veggie burger but I guess it would be more healthier that the one with patty burger.

We mostly eat beef burgers but sometimes use turkey too. Veggie burgers are really good for you and healthy too. I do have a recipe that is packed full of ingredients that I make that tastes good. The health benefits of substituting a veggie burger for a beef burger every now and then is a great move to a healthy lifestyle.

Yes there are turkey burgers too, I have tried those and they're very good. The problem is no one else here will eat them so I'd have to make them just for me, which is alittle on the inconvenient side, although not totally impossible. I love it if comes with health benefits even when I'm not even looking for that!
