Hi everyone.
Its a fact that we mylotters often tend to shorten the usernames at the time of responding or commenting back. I have found my username shortened by several types like shi, shib, shibs, shiby, shiba and so on and all short usernames are created by my favorite lotters. I like their ways of expression and love towards me.
But sometimes, i think why we shorten them? To show endearment or just lazy to type all? Lol. Just curious to know. Why u?
And again, are you satisfied with your all shortened usernames? Me, i am satisfied. Hehehe
Waiting... For d reply.

Hi shibham,
I don't think they are just lazy when shortening your name, as you said I guess it's to show endearment and closeness towards you. Sometimes when I see very long names especially those with long numbers such as mel98022301234, that is the time that I shorten it. LoL, that is just an example but I swear I am seeing some having long numbers as their username. Friends here sometimes call me with different names, and for me that is okay.

Hi shibham
Sometimes even I used to short names of some users. But reason is different. Sometimes I do it like pet name of friend and sometime I do it in lazyness for typing long username..
I was having big username with my old account here. That's why I deleted it and open this one with shorting that old username.. I wonder if someone want to make it even short!!

it not just shortened my friend. it more like you call some one. it ok for me if some one here type my name just henky, or something else. it more like daily activity in real life. that why i love people in mylot.

Hi shibham,
I thought all are interested to read the response or the post rather than the username- short or long. I usually try to use the same username or just a ‘hi’. I also think if I am writing a personalized mail or message I should be using dear/hi/etc with the name/username. I don’t write my full name or full username here as without it, the purpose is solving… right? So if u feel I’m lazy……… can’t help it. Have a nice time. Viju

Hi Viju...
No, once i got a complain from a mylotter when i shortened her name and same case happened with a female mylotter from abroad. She tried to shortened an username and it became odd from Indian perspective. So, the guy complained and became offensive, later i handled the situation.
have a nice time.

Hi,
vp - yes, we do but in mylot i do have added many as friends and i hardly know them / interaction other than mylot is almost nil. So i can not use a nickname/pet name of my choice to address them.. right?
shibham - i think it would be better if we shorten the other's name with their permission.

Hi Shibham,
I feel people love you more and hence they shorten your short username. There are certain usernames, let alone shortening I feel awkward to type them. I intentionally avoided writing those names here. But this does not mean that I do not have a good rapport with them.
Not writing the full usernames or shortening might be due to individual convenience or inconvenience.
Some of my friends shorten my username with kraji, ktaj, raj, rajib and so and so forth. You do not have to worry too much on this. This is the time you had gone to bed. Good night.

hi boss...
Nope, i am not worried at all rather i am happy for the shortened names made by friend circle here. It sounds more closeness or endearment as i have cited on the content. There are certainly some usernames which are to hard to shorten. In those cases i just use "there".
Have a nice time.

Hi shi...
I'm just lazy that's all....
Just joking. Actually when I first address people, I normally use their full name but once I get to know them I'll use something short, it seems to make me feel closer to that person. I like it when people shorten my name too. Especially shi when you call me moon... sounds so romantic hahahah Pls continue to do that ok?

Hi Shib, i hope you don't mind that i had shortened your user name. It becomes informal and friendly when we shortened the person's name. In fact, i don't really mind if people shortened my user name. After all, i am using code form of user name. For me, most important is the interaction that i get from here. Hope you enjoy your stay in here as well. Have a nice day...

I think I would rather shorten than mis spell someones name. That would be just wrong. When making a copy from from something that is a link it can go in that direction and then you go oops but you are right a short version does indicate something more friendly.

On another social site I belong to, I would address someone by the first name in the user name and then just initials thereafter - like if a user name was Ann togoodtobetrue I would make it Ann tgtbt. But normally I write out the whole user name, no matter how long, if I am addressing someone else. Some user names, while different, begin with the same four or five letters so I don't want one person I might call "Shib" think I am referring to another, whose user name might be Shibbery or something like that. Often, people call me "TT" for timetravel, my user name.

Its nice to say our full name... But that is for formality.. People do shorten their names because they are always thinking close friendships..

Since i am new here, i haven't met a user yet that called my username shortcut. But if ever you want to call me, "lex" would be more appropriate for me. Acutally, it doesn't really matter. Call me by any worrd you like as long as it is not vulgar words. I will be fine with that.
