Hi mylotters,
Im 31 years old, i live with my girlfiend and we have no children i also work in a manuel job with a varied shift pattern i.e - nights, weekends and evenings. I want to start taking up karate lessons in a local gym a few times a week, but some people that i work with has stated that they think im to old (how cheeky). I go to the gym about three times a week so i think im still pretty fit for my age. The question is am i to old to start this activity, and at what age should you start slowing down?.

we are same age then...but i would remember my age when someone asked me hehehehe...we all get older but we could feel it when our body complains...forget about thinking your age all you have to do is think you can accomplish and you made it...atleast when your girlfriend ask you to climb a coconut tree you can climb but when you can't well...you know whats next then...:)

Chop the tree down, the older you get the wiser you get. That's the lesson here.

you are never too old to do anything in life.
the only difference is when you are older your body lets you know about it the next day!

That's very true, I still play a lot of soccer one hard tackle and I feel it for days but when I was 18 I would get straight up and carry on.

You are only as old as you think you are. I am in my 40s and would take karate in a minute if I could find someone to go with me. (I hate doing things like that alone.)

thats true its always good to find a friend with the same interests the problem i have is my shift patterns interupts activites that i like doing, maybe its time for a career change. Suppose the moral is that you should let work rule your life.

I've seen so many people having the same thoughts, am I too old for Karate, am I too weak to train, am I having enough strength to hit the gym or join Karate training? Personally I believe there is no such time to limit ourselves. No matter what your condition is, if you feel that you can, you should. Here is an article that I read recently which mentions about a similar issue.
