I wonder why people don't believe in God! How can they not believe?

All my life I was brought up in church and taught that there is a God in Heaven watching our daily walks in this life. I have always believed in God! Never a question in my mind that there is a God that takes care of me. I have two examples that shows me there is a God! One years ago I was hit by a car and did die not for long though. I stood at Heavens gates and heard the angles singing. One of the angles standing in front of me said that he would go talk to The FATHER (meaning God) what to do with me! The angle went into the gates and returned and said The FATHER (God)said to send me back I had one more mission to do for Our FATHER (God). That is one thing that proves there is a God. Next yesterday we had snow on the ground and a friend of ours called asking us to go to his house. We did and it was late in the day when we left on the way home we slid into a deep ditch. I thought of calling that friend but didn't the cell phone wouldn't get out where we were. I tried the first time to push our truck out of the ditch and couldn't. What to do? So I got in front of the truck as I stood there I said YHVH (Gods name) I need your help. Please YHVH help me push this truck out of this ditch. As I pushed the truck it was as light as a feather and came right out of the ditch. I know that I couldn't do it too heavy for me but I barley pushed the truck and sure enough God got us out of the ditch. Do you have testimonies of how God has helped you? Please share your thoughts!

its an interesting subject and everyone has different views and reasons why they may or may not believe in God. I have found it difficult to accept that there is a God because I was never brought up to believe in him. I found the concept of God impossible to get my head around. I needed logic or proof before i could believe in something.
Back then however, i was ignorant. As are a lot of people in the world today. there are fewer and fewer religous people in the world due to upbringings etc. it is know ones fault how they are brought up and everyone has the right to choose a religoun.
I can finally say honestly to myself that i do believe that there is a God. and hope many more people will turn to him before it is too late.

@laura I am so glad that you found your way to God. Life is certainly more pleasant when He is in charge of it.It is sad that there are people who have not been taught to believe, and that is why God tells us to spread His word so that those who have not heard of Him will have the opportunity to come to know Him.

I don't believe in God - I can feel fine in saying that because I don't have the blind faith or the upbringing to have 'nurtured' me into being a 'believer' in any kind of organized religion. Not everyone believes in the same stuff, you must understand. I believe in karmic retribution, being kind to others, and a sense of fate, in a way, but I don't believe in God. *shrugs*. It doesn't make me any less of a person because of it.

Free man, thank you. That is very nice of you to say. Now - DeeDee - you have no right to feel 'sad' for me. I should feel sorry for YOU thinking you should feel 'sad' for me! How can you be sure YOU are not missing out on greater things in life by believing in God? Perhaps you should step over to the 'dark' side like me...

@maezee, of course it does not make you less of a person if you do not believe in God. It does make me sad for you. It is my prayer that you will come to know God's love and blessings in your life.

I can understand why you don't believe in God. But it still is something that I was raised with and still active studying Gods word. It is good that you are kind to others. Just the miracle of birth makes me know there is a true loving God watching over me.

God blesses those that love HIM. It is always nice to get what you need when you need it. Was a blessing that God gave you the jeans you needed. Like you extras are not able to be gotten at this time for us either. Seems like the more you pay for things these days the more the companies need. God bless you and yours my friendQ

I believe in God, and I believe that God chooses us what is best for our lives. All creation has the freedom to do things and sometimes grieve when things do not happen that we want, but we discover in the future that God chose what is best for our lives. But we have to love the Lord and obey Him, and work as commanded us to be happy in this world.

Hi Taheraa and welcome to my lot. I know God put slumber on some so they could not see. I just get surprised by people that can say that knowing without God they wouldn't have even been born. I thank God I was brought up in the church and learned at an early age there is a Kind and Loving God in Heaven looking out for our well being.
Thanks for sharing my friend!

There are many reasons why others don't believe in God. It might be because of our cultural indifference. You can't force others to believe in God. If you do have a strong faith to God you shouldn't force others to believe on what is unknown. I do believe in God. There are many testimonies that would be so hard for me to enumerate.

I don't try to force people to believe in God. I do my best to do as God has instructed us to do. For those who want to put me down and ask me How could I believe in God or say He doesn't exist, I simply encourage them to read and study God's word with an open heart, so that He will be able to speak to them and then they will understand how I can have this "blind faith" in what I can not see or touch.
I do remember how life was before I let God take control of it. I do not want to go back there! I am looking forward to a day that we will all go home to be with the Father.

Hi Craziestqueenever. I would never try and force anyone to believe in God. That isn't what Christians do or shouldn't do. I just don't understand why people don't believe in God. I have seen so many miracles in my life it would be strange if I didn't believe in God. So it is just a thought why some don't believe there is a loving God that helps all that do believe. Thanks for sharing!

Deedee. I am impressed with your response. Thank you for saying what I couldn't remember how to say. Jesus said something about having blind faith I wish I could remember where I read it. I like you can hardly wait till our FATHER comes back to reclaim HIS kingdom here on this earth. Thank you again my friend for sharing!

Fortunate enough for you that God helped you on the second case you mention in moving the truck out. However, the first case may just be a mere dream you know. My opinion is, we cannot blame people for not believe in God. I believe they have not seen the sign of God and perhaps they need valid evidence to show something is real before putting their soul into believing it. That is to say, if the almighty God is real, he needs to prove it so all mankind can believe in him. Don't wait for the judgment day because the people should not be blamed.
I myself prayed and asked for help sincerely in the past but my prayer have never been answered. So we shall just wait until further signs to strengthen our beliefs and faith.

Sometimes people may call prayer something that you might believe that in this sort of thing there is big benefit. But God knows best.
Therefore, do not despair of the lack of response from God to this prayer, it may be in this response, the great evil that you may not know its consequences.
Let's admit that the delay in responding to the prayer rule we do not know

Hi, free_man:
I am, and also from the imposition on any person to be a great belief to the degree of faith in God, this faith be, linked our relationship with God, to be built on a relationship of obedience to his orders orders, and love for his approach. Therefore, God elect to us, everything that is useful in our lives.
Basically, is to improve our relations with God, then anything God chooses to us will certainly be on our side.

There are many times in my life that I know God has been there for me. Situations in my life where I could have been really hurt, or just needed his healing touch. Back in 1993 I was given a report from a Doctor due to serious wounds I had on my leg, I was going to loose my leg. They actually believed there was NO HOPE. I was definately in shock, but called my Pastor who called everyone in the Church who Prayed and in a week when I went back my leg did not look like the same leg, and was saved. This is just one time I know God was there.
The reason I think there are people out there who say they do not believe could be because of the way they were brought up, or those who have been hurt somehow, or just those who have never experienced how Great our God is. My Prayer is one day for everyone to believe.

I do believe that there is a God and that he is a wonder, powerful and merciful God. I do believe in miracles, and I do believe that we all have a purpose here. I can't say that I understand why some do not believe, but I do have to say that I respect it. I have a friend who does not believe, but she is one of my best friends and I would no change that for the world.
I believe and know in the miracles around us.

I believe that our purpose on this earth is to share the true word of God and try to plant a seed of truth about Gods true word. But God is the only ONE that can make that seed of truth grow. Our teacher of Gods true word says that we should plant a seed and if it doesn't grow then forget it and let these non believers just see how God works in our lives. Some people God put a strong delusion so they can't see the truth. Seems like I have been through a lot in this life but God has always been with me to help me through all the bull that I brought on myself. I think the other purpose we are to do is stand before the anti christ and let the Holy Spirit speak through us when the time comes.

I think most people are aware there is a God. They just deny it. I'm not sure why. Maybe they're afraid and they don't know what to do so they deny God exists. Like if you see a scary movie and you close your eyes. Or maybe they think they can use their "non belief" as a get out of Jail free card. "Oh. I didn't know." Most people who say they don't believe in God won't even try to find out if He is real or not. They just keep repeating that it's a fairy tale.

Bad thing about it is when we all die and we all will some day we all go to Heaven to face God. And if they deny God God will deny them. What a waste of one's life to sit and not realize there is a Great and Loving God in Heaven that wants us all to have good lives!

hi,
actually it will depend upon the person if they have belief in God,some of them dont want to believe because for them God have no significant or importance because of the status of their life.like to those poor people because if God exist they are not poor.

Hi Asliah.I just can't understand why anyone wouldn't believe in God. Poor or rich isn't the fault of God it is our own fault for not having or for having what we do or don't have it says in the bible that God don't put more on us then we can bare. It also says in the bible be ware of what we blame God for.

That was an extraordinary experienced, actually I don't know what to share or rather have anything to share. I believed in GOD in the bottom of my heart, and HE is the one inside it. Today, I'm in the challenging state of my life as I prayed GOD for help, a very challenging that I didn't expect that will happen to me. I trust GOD for HIS will and for HIS right timing, I know He will never leave me nor forsaken me.

There is so much confusion about God and teachings today. Everyone church has its own take on what the Bible says and teaches things different from the other and calls the other religion wrong. This has caused many to be confused and fall away. How can God be a God of confusion, they think. There are groups out there that take the Bible and translate it to read how they think it should read. And even change parts of it because the Bible does not say what they want to believe, so they change rewrite passages to fit their believes.
I am glad I have a prophet and apostles that actually recieve revelation to help guide me, and not people trying to interpretate the Bible on their own.

Hi Fatcat. I know there are a lot of translations out there that have been changed by man to read as they see fit. What a shame that people can't understand the original manuscripts. I thank God for the teacher of Gods word that we have. Our teacher reads and understands the original manuscripts.

hi dear free_man, my Guardian Angel is really at work. How many times did I have to run to catch a train so I could get home in time and it looked like I missed the train but still got it
The newest example of this was yesterday. I worked till almost 6 pm and knew there is a train 7 pm and the next one 7:15. The 7:15 has two more stops in between to the station where I need to change trains so its there later.
The 7 pm train had some technical problems and came in late so I first boarded but then decided to better take the 7:15 in hope nothing would go wrong.
Forget it.
The 7:15 was really late in departure and I thought okay, so wait it out and when we reached the next stop they said one of the guests needs medical help so the stop will be longer.
Lovely. We had about 30 minutes delay by then so it would be obvious I miss the connection and the connection train was the last train for the day to the area where I wanted to go. I told them when they checked the fares so they know.
I remained really calm about the situation and called my hubby at home and said no way you are going to drive over one hour at nighttime to get me out of this. let the train company figure out something.
As more people also wanted to get to this same area as me they had the last train wait for us........ almost 15 minutes.........so I still got home all right.

Hi RitterSport. Wow that was cool that God opened their eyes, so the train would wait for all of you. I hate it when things like this happen to me. But like you I would have shown the train people my ticket. God always provieds to those that do what is right in HIS eyes! Thank God you made it home alright my friend.

Wow! How great and good is God to you my friend. You have had wonderful encounter with Him. Like you, I was also brought up by my parents to believe that there is truly God. However, I don't have such encounter with Him. But I believe He is always there for me, He guides me in everything I do and in every problem I encounter. He is always my partner and shock absorber. I don't know what will happen to me if God will leave me in just a single second. God is my everything.

Oh, so many times! I have asked God for healing, for physical help, for mental help and for emotional help and He comes through every time. I don't know where I would be without His help and His care and I don't want to know.
I remember one time it had been snowing and the streets were slick. I was in a bad mood and had to go downtown for something, and I came out of the driveway too fast. The street was slick and the car spun completely around. All I could do was call on the name of Jesus. I was so scared, but the moment I prayed the car just stopped and was aligned perfectly alongside a car that was parked. A couple of more inches and it would have plowed right into it.

There are many people in this world that were no brought up as you were to believe in a god. Some believe in no god or in a multitude of gods. At best the evidence for the existence of a god or gods is anecdotal and fits into the category of "seeing is believing."
I am not a Christian and as a result believe in a far different set of gods than you do.

you know, i have read what people had to say about sharing their testimonies here, some say they don't have such glorious experience like yours but you know what it mustn't be spectacular for it to be a miracle or before you can share your testimony.
i think we should change our mindset and be grateful for the seemingly little testimonies that we experience in our lives daily from the little favors or act of kindness given by strangers, a free lunch, money gift, a lift etc. the truth is as you share those little testimonies with others God starts to bring in to life great workings of His Manifestation in your life. the bible says "he that is faithful in little is faithful in much"
do you know sharing your salvation story is the greatest testimony anyone can ever experience.?
sharing our testimonies does 2 things for us
1. it perfects what so ever we are testifying about- remember the story of the ten leper Jesus healed and only one came back to tell the master thank you. and Jesus reply "were there not ten lepers cleansed, go you have been made whole" in other words he was restored back to normal, he had a new body.
2. it gives faith to others to believe that there is still God- there are some that have lost hope in the world by sharing that testimony you could just be talking to a person under the same circumstances you were in.
i hope i could just go on but i don't want to bore anyone with long sermon.

Hi Akwaobio and welcome to my lot. Yes I remember that where Jesus healed the 10 lepers.
I know that by sharing my testimonies that it might open the eyes of some. That is what we are supposed to do in this life to help those that don't know God.
You will never bore anyone that is needing to hear what God has done for you in your life.
Thank you my friend for sharing!

People cannot be alike. There are people who lost hope, or they grew up differently..surroundings that made them loose hope on God.
But it is hard to persuade everyone to believe in God since people see things in different perspective.

I can understand how people don't believe. I didn't know whether to believe or not until I was in my mid thirties. You see people would talk to me about it but I would feel like it was just a book of stories someone with a great imagination write and why should I believe such things.
But at one time when I was as low as I could go, and a neighbor had given me a couple boxes of books he wasn't going to take in his move, I started going through them. It didn't take long for awesome things to start happening in my life that could only be explained as from God.
That's why when I hear others say why should they believe I understand, cause that was me once.

I can understand to a point because a lot of people haven't been taught the Loving kindness of God. But I was blessed and thank God I had the mother I had. She made sure as young children we learned the bible and the fact that there is a God. It is just plain hard for me that parents don't teach their children about God. Without God where would we all be? Thanks for sharing my friend!

Me too i dont know why some people do not believe in god. Everyone has different experiences in life. I think that the fact of being able to wake up in the morning and go back to bed in the night is a testimony. We should always be grateful to god for that because not every one has that blessing.
