I would say that it does this by making life easier and more fun.
Through technology, a student can do their class work much more easily than before. They can find reference online instead of going to the library.
Through technology students can have more fun. They stay in touch with their frnds and play video games.
But i have heard mixed reactions from students this year after they have been issued their own laptops.
Some say it is better, they have instant acces to things, they dont have to spend time time looking for info in the library or other places.
Some say it is worse , they dont like how much time they spend on it and how it feels like it can take over their lives. Some complain they read less and just dont have much time off-line.
One could argue that is just a matter of self-discipline .
I would like to have your thoughts about this discussion, it would be interesting !!

you are right, it is really a matter of discipline. there is good and bad in everything. technology certainly does make things easier for students doing research and other school works. on the other, it provides for a lot of distractions too.

With everything there is good and bad. It definitely can be an asset or it can be a burden. Just depends on how you use technology. You also need self control so you don't get consumed!

It is amazing just how much technology can help a student with their work, because when I was at school, we had to do work by hand and if we made a mistake we had to start the whole page again before it could be handed in to the teacher to be marked. However, it has also given students the chance to get more distracted from the work that they're supposed to be doing, so it is important that you should make sure that you set times to get your work done, and stay away from everything else on the internet when you have other things that you need to get done in your spare time.

When I was a student we wrote assignments by hand and there was no internet so we had to go to the library when we wanted to find information. A lot has happened since that time, and today the students have access to technology that can help them in many ways. I think that laptops and internet access is a great help for the students. I know that many students in my country still use the libraries when they want to find books for their assignments, but it is big advance that they are able to use more than one source of information and combine books and information on the internet. It is also easier to write notes on the laptop compared to the handwritten notes in notebooks that students from my generation used to write.
I think that are many advantages about the technology that is available today, but sometimes the students get addicted to the internet and start spending too much time online. It can lead to problems if the students start neglecting their offline lives because of the internet, but I still think that the positive things about the internet outweigh the negative things.

Being a student is the best excuse someone can use to get a laptop, or money for a laptop from their parents, haha.
It is a great deal of help, because it is portable, and especially if you are a student in a different city than your birth city, you can always carry it with you when you go home.
Also, you can take it in class and take notes, but there also are various things you can do with it, depending on what kind of profile you are studying.

In terms of references, well yes technology does put a leap to what has been traditional in terms of research and doing references.
With the help of technology you are able to find information in just one search, this means that your travel around the library and reading bulky books are discourage because search engines are mostly putting less time on doing research.
The cons, though is that of all the search that students come across, there’s a broader line in which is real or not, since the internet in technology’s standpoint is diverse, so putting who really brought up the content is quite hard to track.

Yes there area lot of issue in this new technology that involve the students. I can say I saw it with my daughter who grew with technologies on her side. Computers, gaming gadgets, cellphone are the things she used. I notice that she grew up not like me who enjoys to play outside with other friends interact with other people and learn to communicate. Not in my childhood days there are other way to play outside the house with others running, chatting, laughing, climbing, playing rubber bands etc. But now a days I seldom see children playing on the streets, mostly you will saw them on some computer cafe's or they have their own playing gadgets on their hands, cellphone to use to communicate to virtual friends.
Yes it's true technology help us to makes things fast but I just thought they missed a lot of wonderful things in life.

Teacher-student interaction in a traditional way is no longer the only one way of learning process. With todya's technology, students are given a much easier access to learning process. Teachers now can give assignment to students via emails or blogs. Teachers can maintain special blogs for students to access learning materials.

Well in the often hectic life of the student, if they use it properly, they can become better organized. At least that is what the theory seems to be. Of course, the theory can be something that is very much misplaced a lot of the time. There are times where students don't fully tap into the organizational benefits that technology brings.
It does bring one point forward. Technology is a tool. It is only useful if you use it in the right way. If it doesn't, then it really doesn't have any use. I for one I am glad that we have technology, because it can be tedious to look up information in library books and a rather prominent strain on my sanity not to mention. Of course, people need to realize that there is a time for fun and a time for study and that is where the problem lies.

Using Web-Based E-Learning, makes the learning more attractive, interesting and fun, students and teacher can interact each other. Teachers can upload assignment and accessed by students and submitted also in the web....Very simple and fun...

With the advent of technology, there would always be an advantage and a disadvantage itself. The advantage is that it makes information to be accessible and communication easier. But some student abuses the power of technology, such as they would rely on the internet as a source of their inspiration and entertainment. If only these students knew how to value the technology they would appreciate it.

Technology now really helps the student to achieved their goal easily. Like me it is easy for me to search my assignment and have a new knowledge about the things that our instructor discussed. Sometimes I can say that it better to search in the net! Sometimes I can say to my self, that I can learn many things than to waste my time listening to the Lecture of the teacher that is obsolete. :(

Technology is ONLY good;
Just like healthy food is only good, medicines are only good, and so on and so on.
But of course, just like about anything good, overdoing it hurts you, Eating too much healthy food makes you sick, taking too much of a medicine kills you and too much technology kills your social life.
So as you said, it's only a matter of self-descipline, or just a choice.
But of course you can't blame those things if they hurt you, it's person's fault.

Technology is indeed a boon to the students. No doubt they make their class work interesting and also makes a innovative way for them to learn new things effectively and more importantly with more interest. Thanks to the attractive laptops and lucrative cheap internet plans that are being shed out these days, it just encourages the student to use technology more and more.
However it can have its own demerits too. The students become addictive to entertainment sites and some also turn their laptops to a virtual gaming device. At the end of it all, the choice of the usage of technology in the right direction is left at the discretion of the student.

Technology sure makes doing homework faster and easier. I really like the being able to do my research online. Before I got a computer at home, I would spend 3-4 hours after school every day to use the computers in the library. I think working on line requires a lot of self discipline so that one does not get distracted from the purpose you are online. I think those who don't like it can always combine the using technology and the old fashioned "nose to the grind stone" methods of studying if they feel that the computer time is too much.

yes, it's a big help and make a student life easier, without spending so much time at the library, students can now do their homework or research at home using technology/internet, they can also talk or group studies online or ask directly to their teachers by phone.

it just depends on the student. . . If a students concentrates doing home works via laptop and internet, it can be done faster. . .however, if a student most of the time viewing any other sites than to research, it make a lot of time to f4nish...
