Don't hesitate if you find a discussion which violate the TOS report it to the admin
this way we all can help to keep mylot spam free
our admin comes here every day for few hours so if there is a discussion create when he is not here the discussion survive for a little longer and then when he is back he delete those
note there are hundreds of discussion started every day so reporting does help him a bit

hi sajeevking and sql__cell but do not report a discussion based on what you think of the discussion maker as though he or she may
be arrogant or self righteous, its the quality of the discussion
we are supposed to look at,does it break any mylot guideline
rules? if not then you are just reporting because you do not
like the poster, and thats not how we should judge discussions.
I have seen some I could use those words on but the discussion
really did not break an ymylot rules.

even though we report them its entirely depended on our admin whether he find it violating rules or not and then he would delete it so reporting does not mean that the discussion would be deleted for sure

We are told in the Guidelines: "Help us out and report trolls, flame wars, and troublemakers by sending an abuse report to myLot.
Help out when you can. The myLot staff tries to monitor the site constantly, but we also need your eyes and ears to catch problems when they arise and report abusive behavior" http://www.mylot.com/o/guidelines.aspx
If a discussion, response or comment is violating the Guidelines it is abusing myLot and should be reported.
If I see such posts I report them, regardless of whether it is a new or an older member of myLot who posted it. Just by reporting does not mean that it will be deleted but admin will see the report and decide what to do.
If we want myLot to stay the way it is and keep on paying us for our contributions the we must ALL help out when we see something which could be detrimental to the site or its users.

Reporting is considered by many to be 'bad' but those users seem not to understand that if we don't help out then myLot must take on more staff to help find the violations. More staff would need paying and that would mean less money for us therefore it is on our own interests that we help out whenever we can.
I am pleased that you have now understood this too

hi diana just wondering is there times when one sees a mylotter as arrogant or self righteous but still their discussion does not really seem to break any guideline rules? I guess I am saying we
should judge the discussion based on whether its broken any
guideline rules as opposed to the personality of the poster?I
know in rating we are not to rate the person but the posting as
to plus, minus or report.I guess I am trying to say while I may not like a certain mylotter whose always posting political stuff that
does not give me the right to report him if his posting or response
has not broken any guideline rules.

hi sql__cell I do not report any discussion easily as we should
not report someone solely because we dislike the person. We are
supposed to focus on the quality of the discussion not on the
person making it. If it blatantly breaks o ne or more rules in
the guideline or is really flaming and insulting I will report
it to mylot admins.but I must really see if it has broken any
rule. I do not report many but I have on a few discussions
which were obviously flaming someone. I do not want to feel like I am a my lot police but yet we are asked to help out. I have seen
a few report unnecessarily but the final judge is the mylot admins so if the discussion did not break any rules mylot admins will surely not delete it.

Hi Hatley,
I usually try to tell someone in a kind way if they are breaking the rules. My point would be to help them so that they don't get frustrated and leave when their discussions get deleted. If It is a blatant disregard of the rules and I sense the person is here simply to spam then I just report. I don't feel a need to leave a comment rude or otherwise to those ones. each situation is different. Someone that is clearly trying but breaks a guideline, I don't report them. I tell them and hope that the discussion slides by and that they take the advice and learn

Yes, but we are all asked to help out when we can. The report would grab the admins attention, thus resolving the problem faster.
If there's a riot on your street, would you just wait for the police to find them, or would you call for them to come?

@ Atleya: before I did the same thing as you. I responded to the discussion, that I want. But, over time, I was furious with the discussions that are always with the same type. However, the discussion is still there. Made me want to report the discussion.
@ swirlz: Yes. You are right. With our report, we can help admin.

Hello sql_cell,
I do it often whenever i think that a particular discussion violates guidelines and we are supposed to do it as admin alone can't scan each and every discussion/response/comment every day.Yes definitely sometimes it has happened to me too that the discussion which i reported still remained here next day may be the reason which i gave for the deletion was not appropriate and admin decided not to delete it but it never demotivated me and still i do report discussions which i feel violate guidelines.

Previously, I've made ??a bad discussion and is not qualified, but I try to improve myself, to make a quality discussion. But, sometimes I was very upset, with a discussion from one member. I could make a lot of discussion, if I do the same with him. I was very upset, discussions like that, not deleted by admin. I'm confused, why they do not want to grow, by always making a quality discussion.

Yes as I remember many years back I reported a guy who is harassing me though my discussion. He keeps on posting bad words and everybody read it. And he also post vulgar words through my private message. I reported him to the admin to be ban, and thanks to admin that he granted my request. Don't hesitate to report a violator here in that we keep our community safe from them.
