I've experienced this a couple of times, and it seems to occur each time I'm in a hurry. It's really so frustrating when the line is slowly moving just because the cashier isn't really focusing on his or her job and just talks to a fellow cashier or someone else. I usually call the cashier's attention about this but I try to say it in a light and friendly manner. They still resent it though when you call their attention no matter how friendly you said it. I even once just got so frustrated that I put back the stuff I was supposed to buy and just walk out of the store.

Hi Befrind, same here, i ever came across this type of situation, where we have to wait much longer for the cashier to complete their job. The colleagues of the cashier seems not feel bothered at all with the customers in queue waiting to pay their purchases. Sometimes, i wish the supervisor is nearby to supervise, so the cashier won't behave that way. The supermarket that have strict supervisor usually have active working cashiers. So, i usually prefer to go to that type of supermarket to buy my grocery item, since i really don't want to waste too much time waiting.

Agree, am not like waiting and long time..I hate it because i am hurrying and they are so long to do their jobs..
Maybe need them to discipline so they will not do it and learn from it.

if i were the customer,of course i will feel irritable to the cashier.it's their job to serve the customers and not to chat with their other co-workers.What if i'm in a hurry?maybe i would yell at her.if it happens to you again, you should talk their supervisor/manager.

You could complain to a manager, to the clerk themself, or if they offer a survey give poor marks on the survey. We all talk at work, but you are right when a customer is present we need to focus on the customer and getting them thru the line with ease and a smile.

I have experienced cashiers and sales people who do more talking than work. It is really frustrating because sometimes we are in a hurry and want to leave soon and it is also annoying for people waiting in line behind you. I would sometimes tell them politely to hurry up since I have other things to do too as most of the time I don't want to complain with the manager or supervisors. People need to be efficient at their work and think about improving customer service...

I will never go to that shop again. I think they are not competent cashiers and it is due to their attitude. Talking when working is annoying I think.

I'd scold the cashier for being slow and tell her to shut up.
If I were the boss, I'd probably fire her or cut her salary.
What would you do if you were the boss.

If i meet this situation,i will interrupt them politely, telling him or her i am busy. But it doesn't apply to many situations. For example, if you are seeing a doctor, who often does his or her own things, you ask him or her to draw attention to you ,in which case although he or she turns to you ,he or she will not be happy to be reminded and in this situation you will be treated in a lower level.

I also felt the same during my shopping days. I gets frustrated at it and this is the one of the reason which make my shopping ugly. These people really exploit the thrill of the shopping.
During the time was an old man with me. He was waiting like me for a long time. After some time he was just blasted. He just screwed at the cashier. This made him to do his work fast and all the things was solved.
Differences create magic and that is what the old man did

This is could happen when they just get bored to work or simply wasting time talking any interesting story. It is sure not wrong but they just taking and keep talk until the work is undone. If i customers sure i get angry and start to say anything, upset and son on.This is might be happened.
