Should they get life without parole or be put on death row for lethal injection?

YES, I am talking about the crazy GRANDMOTHER and step mother of the 9 year old girl, Savannah, who was forced to run outside for 3 hours without stopping and without water because she ATE A FREAKING CANDY BAR. She DIED, people. Her father had to rush home and decide to disconnect life support from his little girl! And the grandma? It was HIS MOTHER. I think they should both be run to death, personally... for at LEAST 3 hours... outside in heat, without stopping and with no water. I don't think I'm being cruel. THEY MURDERED A LITTLE GIRL!!! I bet they were abusing her too, at least one of them.

I feel bad for the dad and Savannah's birth mom. I have no sympathy or any 'softness' at ALL for that horrible grandmother - I hold her the most to blame for this mess. The step-mom - well she was an idiot for not protecting Savannah against that evil horrible woman. I hope the dad never speaks to her again, his mother I mean.

I would like to see their tails run off for three hours. Sometimes I think that people should be punished with exactly the same thing that was ok for them to deal out. I do however think that they should have to live a while with what they done...A public spotlight on their crime. It makes me sick that anyone can treat a child with cruelty..especially their own flesh and blood.

She didn't even do anything that was deserving of anything so cruel. Yes, she lied but you don't MURDER someone for lying. The worst part is that both of them probably don't even think there was anything wrong with what they did! Clearly they have mental issues.

Personally stories like this always seem to amaze me how many times people are doing things like this, and no one really seems to notice or do anything about it. If she was making her run around outside with no water, etc. how could someone have not seen this and tried to step in? But to allow it is unreal, and things like this need to be prevented and stopped. I know the economy, etc. is getting Bad but come on what happened to Loving a Child and treating them with Love and respect?

I think they should get the same treatment that they showed that child. Kill them like they killed that little girl. After all at 9 years old she shouldn't be punished like that! They killed that little girl, so don't show them any mercy either!

They probably were abusing her. That's so F***ed up and WRONG.. There should be outrage over this (I hope there is) Running as a punishment is one thing (although there are always better ways to punish a child when need be) but without water? That's asking for the child to drop of heat exhaustion or dehydration amongst many other things. Its crazy that people witnessed it too I can't believe what people do nowadays. I agree and "eye for an eye" and if I were the Mother that gave birth to that baby you'd better bet the grandmother and the step mom wouldn't make it to court at all, they'd be 6 feet under and burning in hell. Pissed.

One thing that makes more sense is to make the punishment fit the crime. I don't think it's ever a good idea to force a child to run or do exercise as a 'punishment' because then they will have a dim view of something that is supposed to be a healthy lifelong habit. If anything, you want to make exercise a fun activity that they do with their friends on a team or as a family. I actually don't think she should have been punished at all - and here's why - it's due to the way they treated her that she sneaked the candy bar and ate it at ALL, plus she ONLY lied about it because I'm sure she knew what sort of reaction she'd get from them, and what child WANTS to get in trouble? I hope the mom gets a say in the matter, although her not being involved in raising her daughter is a red flag...

My husband called me today at lunch and told me about this, it is sad, and just horrible. This little girl didn't deserve that, NO CHILD deserves that. After hearing the story I had a feeling they were abusing her as well. And you know what, kids are suppose to sneak chocolate and candy, they are suppose to be kids. Who the hell made them drill sergeant?!

No I don't think your being cruel! Honestly that's what I think should be done to them too! All because of a damn candy bar. I mean my kids of ate stuff after being told no but I have never made them do that. Its called punishment that actually fits the behavior and what they choose is no way in means a punishment. Its cruelty and abuse. So Yes I agree they should too have to run outside for 3 hours without water. Then they can suffer what that poor little girl had to and know what its like. For the poor father having to decide to do that is heartbreaking, no father should have not had to do that. No child should not have to be punished and abused in that way.

mommyboo: The Bible says "an eye for an eye..., but vengence is mine, sayeth the Lord. I believe that either way, these cruel people will get a just punishment for what they did to that poor little girl. If they get lethal injection, then they die and I feel certain that they will spend eternity burning in the lake of fire. If they get life without parole, their lives will be filled with torture for all of eternity (first by humans, then by God). Regardless of what other criminals are imprisoned for, they tend to take a real dim view of people who commit crimes against the elderly and children. They seem to dole out their own justice on those who have caused harm to the defenseless children and older people. I am sure we will hear stories of these women being beaten or killed in prison.

Yes, yes.... very true. I will have to follow this case so I can see if justification occurs. I cannot imagine that God would be okay with this, but it also bothers me that it was ALLOWED to happen! Minor abuses happen every day, but this... THIS is so sick and twisted!

I think they should have done to them exactly what they did to that little angel!! Poor girl, I hope she is at peace. I also know those two will get exactly whats coming to them. I think people that hurt children are demons and they deserve any punishment they get. But they should also have to run for 3 hours without water and I would make them do it in a desert! Sorry this makes me so angry!

That would be their just dessert... no pun intended. I cannot get over the evilness of some people, and they should not be allowed near children. This really bugs me too because the grandmother is the DAD'S mother! And as for the mom, yeah even if she's the step mom, how could she not see the punishment was cruel and unnecessary?? I have grown step kids, never EVER would I allow ANY other adult regardless of whether they think they are part of my family or not to PUNISH MY CHILDREN! NEVER. If someone needs to put their foot down, it's ME or my husband, NOT other adults when WE are there. I'd probably have blown my top at that stupid woman and given the girl all the candy bars she wanted. Oh how I hope they get abused by others in jail! If that makes me cruel oh well!!!!
