Lately with the economy being bad and my husband and I are not working we buy more items second hand. I have bought furniture second hand and then I repaint it or restain it to make it brand new. My husband and I have been losing weight lately and we have been buying clothes second hand because it is cheaper than having to buy new clothes. I also buy used books, DVDs and video games. I am all for saving money.

victorkrish: I think that you can buy just about anything second-hand and still get good quality merchandise. I love a good bargain, so I too, purchase things second hand. Granted there are a few things that I would not buy used(toothbrushes, under clothes, other items for hygienic use). I figure it this way, if I save money on my bargains at thrift stores and consignment shops, then I have more money to return to God or buy the things my family needs.

I am a huge believer in buying used things if they are what I need and are neat, clean and of good quality. No reason not to. I love yard sales, and I love thrift shops. I love our new Goodwill store and Salvation Army. If I can find it there, I will take a savings anytime instead of spending more unnecessary money. Hello......It only makes sense.

It is really depends on the object and to the one who sells it. I realized when it comes to car then it is not easy to buy second hand because most people are not honest about the flaws of the used car.

What's wrong with second hand things? They can work as well as new things too! I tend to buy second hand stuff on Ebay, I don't mind it, it may not look the best o new but as long as it performs what it's mean to, then I'm quite fine with it. I sometimes buy second hand branded clothes at charities or on Ebay. I rather buy soemthing expensive for cheap for secondhand. Some really old furniture or appliances even work better than the new ones. My friend bought a washing machine recently and it broke in 2 years while her very old one still worked after 15 years.

I do buy second hand things but i really do not expect much quality in it as it is already in use. i go for second hand clothes, second hand books which are still usable. But if you say gadgets i go for branded ones and brand new ones.

We often shop at Goodwill and thrift stores. We also buy from Ebay and Craigslist. As long as the item is in good shape, buying second hand is fine for us. There are certain things that need to be new but many times you can find a vintage item for a low cost.

It all depends on the condition the good is in.Car value depreciates quickly as there are a number of new models.Sometimes it is useful to buy sparingly used second hand goods.I don't know about games and electronic gadgets. If one is certain that there is value in the good i suppose it makes sense to buy them irrespective of the fact that they are second hand.

It really does come down to the condition that the second hand thing is in. If it is in a decent condition, then really it is a deal. Of course, there are many things that I would always say no to if they are second hand. Any electronics for instance, especially computer monitors and DVD players. You never really know what they have put through during their time.
Of course clothes, books, whatever, all good second hand. Plates and cups as well, really anything that looks decent. Sometimes also new really doesn't always mean good in the world. Second hand things are much like new things as in some are much better quality than others. It really does depend on the actual item in question so it needs to be looked out carefully.

I do not see anything wrong with buying second hand. I look at it and if it looks nice and everything, not a problem for me. =)
My husband and I go to yard sales and thrift stores a lot. We have three kids so we could not afford to buy brand new all the time. We are not rich unfortunately. Lol.
As long as you wash anything you get before you wear it and it looks nice I don't see anything wrong with it. Plus it saves a lot of money! Of course I would not get anything like underwear but other things, sure!

I buy second stuff out of necessity sometimes because I'm poor and can't afford new stuff. At the Salvation Army surplus stores or other second stores or even pawn shops a person can pick up some real good deals. I once bought an old portable T.v and it was in excellent condition for only twenty dollars. My husband bought a round table and chairs at a second hand shop in Edmonton when we lived there for a hundred dollars and it was in good condition and we still have it.
If you shop around you can get good quality items for a good price.

i am not attracted to second hand items... even on gadgets, i still think that things you buy especially those you wear should at least be own initially by you. Also, the quality will not be the same as it is new because it has already been pre owned, right?

I often buy second hand things and I have bought furniture, clothes, books, magazines, cds, dvds and many other things in second hand shops. There are a few things that I would never buy in a second hand shop for instanse underwear, but aside from that I think that we can find many nice and cheap things in second hand shops. Of course we need to check the things carefully before we buy them so that we don't buy broken things or books with missing pages, but we are careful we can find some nice things.
I don't have a lot of money to spend on new things, that is one of the reasons why I often visit the second hand shops. I also visit them because I sometimes find some interesting things that have disappeared from the ordinary shops long time ago.

I do, there is nothing wrong in it.
There are stuffs from second hand stores that are not second hand actually.
Some stores are selling those old stocks from big malls for cheaper prices.
I don't mind having second hand things either.
It's what my budget can afford and I won't go on borrowing money just for the sake of buying unnecessary brand new things.

It depends on what kind of things are you looking at. It there is a concern about hygenic like clothings, ear rings etc, then it is likely that I will look at second hand stuff. But if it is ornaments and furnitures, then why not is the condition is still good.

There are some second hand clothes that are just old and totally worn out. There are some also that are still in good condition or may have been worn like once or twice. As long as you check the stitches and the fabric and you really inspect the clothes then I think buying second hand clothes is totally fine. I love buying clothes in thrift stores and vintage shops. It is a ot cheaper and it is like a treasure hunt lol.

With the way the economy is and the high price of literally everything I love second hand items. And yes sometimes the quality may not be as good but if a person keeps looking around they may be able to find a better quality item. Being thrifty is a necessity for me and so I don't feel bad about purchasing things that are second handed. I think doing things this way has saved us a lot of money.
