Isn't quid pro quo sort of love?

I was just thinking(in latin obviously)and the meaning of quid pro quo means equal exchange of goods or services. Give and take, what for what. Putting love out there you get it back to you. A very good deal I am thinking. So what are your thoughts on this? When you tell someone you love them isn't it great to hear it back?

Yes it is wonderful to hear those words back. I always tell the children that when I shout at them it is with love!!! I love it (no pun really) when the children tell me they love me

What a sweet guy he is. I can't remember my mum actually saying i love you to me, hence i ten everyday and really mean it, plus i love cuddling my children and having hugs, again I couldn't never get near my mum to get a cuddle. I remeber once asking for a hug and being told don't you think you are too old for a hug! My children are aged 14 and two 12 year olds and they still come and sit on my lap at times, I love it

My grandson comes upstairs nearly on a daily basis and tells me he loves me. Sweet little guy he is.

If you love someone, you give to them willingly. It isn't a trade. You don't go to dinner with them so that they will fix your car. You go to dinner with them because you want to spend time with them and they fix your car because your concerns are their concerns. No, I'd say it's different.

Then it's not what I would call love, not mutual love, at least.

It is wonderful to hear it back and relationships are based on give and take. I suppose quid pro quo could be a way of describing love.

I think so. It isn't all give. Like you said- give and take.

hi celticeagle would be great if you get love in return everytime you put love out there or, better, attention......but how about all the times when our love, attention, help, well meant action is thrown into our faces.......

Yes, love in return each time would be nice indeed. Thrown into our faces would be very mean.

Yeah, it's great to hear it back. The only bad part is when someone says it without meaning it. It's almost like cheating, because you're "selling something," passing it off as genuine, even though it's not. It's very dishonest. But when it's all genuine? Yeah, great. But don't say it too much, it can get over-saturated in my opinion. Say it when you really feel it. And say it in different ways every time. "I really love you, you look so beautiful in that dress." "You are so good to me, you always remind me why I love you so much" so on and so forth. :)
