February 30th!!!

While making discussions on leap years, one funny incident of 1970 came to my mind. At that time I was working as a lecturer in a college; I was in charge of examinations; the students who were to appear in the Bachelor of Science Examination had filled up the forms. In this one has to give his/her date of birth in addition to other information. This date of birth is given on the basis of the date found in the High School Examination Certificate; this is verified by a lecturer usually.
While scrutiny suddenly I found date of birth as 30th February; this was funny and weird; I called the candidate, asked her to produce the High School Examination Certificate in original; to my utter surprise it was 30th February.
This girl must have filled up forms for 3 more examinations before doing it for the Bachelor of Science Examination, nobody noticed it!!!

Have you any such funny but SERIOUS information to share?
Please comment on this and share your opinion.
Thanks in advance.
Let’s enjoy life to fullest.

its really funny but my question is why would anybody do that??
what is the use of making false birth dates in the examinations?
well I do not have any such surprising yet shocking incidence regarding this kind of dates but yes i do remember one of my friend who's birth day is on the 29th February..and he used to felt upset most of the time as he get to celebrate his birth day every four years. In-fact we used to hesitate in inviting him to our birthdays as he might not turn up or it might make him upset. But i remember consoling him some day saying that he should consider himself lucky enough that his birthday is rare and that is why he is the unique among us.I am not in touch with him but i do remember him and his "birthday" .

It's amazing you were the first one to notice this, when she had already produced it so many times. I doubt if she could ever get passports/licenses with that. It might be a gig from someone's part, but it's serious!!

Best of luck.

Wow, that's pretty messed up! Does February 30th actually exist? I just asked my dad and he gave me a weird look and said, No, Alyssa, the extra day during a leap year is February 29th. So how does she screw that up and get her birthday wrong? When did it turn out she was actually born, March 1st? I can't imagine getting your birthday wrong on a form, and that nobody before you noticed such! . Happy MyLotting to you and Happy Leap Year to you as well!

Hi Professor,
What an interesting story but I was thinking the poor girl might have many problems if she need to apply for something, especially things to do with the government. Many online forms come with a default calendar and she wouldn't be able to select her birthdate. I think she should get this resolved. She can always keep a copy of her original certificate as a remembrance.

I think she must have received new certificate by filing an affidavit in court of law first as per rules here.
Thanks for response.

That is really funny. Incident like that, I think that may happen, when one is not paying attention while filling up such forms. But at least it make a fun for others when you notice it. And the student can be sure there is no other person with same date of birth in the world
