Birthday 29th February

India
February 26, 2012 9:55am CST
A friend came to me for consultation, he was blessed with a grandson on 29th February 2008, a leap year; on 29th February 2012 he will observe the birthday again after four years only, thus once in 4 years. But I know people here who were born on 29th February, they observe birthday on 29th February, on leap years, but on 1st of March in other years, very nice idea I appreciate this. Do you have any friend, kids, friends’ kids whose birthday is 29th February, when they celebrate birthday on 29th or 1st of March? If your birthday were 29th, what you would have done? My birthday is 19th August, when is yours? Hope you find this information useful. Please comment on this and share your opinion. Thanks in advance. Let’s enjoy life to fullest. Professor ‘*^Bhuwan^*’. . 27/2/2012.

I don't have close people to know that been born on that date. I wonder whether I have to give them a 4x that normal gift as it's celebrated once in every four years.

I know 2 girls who were born on 29th February, they were both in my class when I was in school. It is so coincidental, it is amazing. I have met no other since. I think most people would choose to celebrate before.

Bit of a 'no brainer' really - plus or minus a day is the way to go. It is only a convenient calculation anyway to use up a quarter of a day every four to keep the sun in sync. You are still a year older. More of a problem I think is a birthday on Christmas Day or a similar 'present giving' day in other societies. Then I think it is best to have an 'official birthday like the Queen several months away to spread the presents.

There is a woman in my church whose birthday is February 29th. She usually celebrates it on February 28th, which surprised me. I thought most Leap Year babies would choose March 1st to celebrate. My birthday, by the way, is March 1st. : )

Namaskar Sir One of my classmates in school. He was born on 29th Feb. We always asked him for his birthday party on 28th Feb and also on 1st march every non-leap year. We would go over to his place and ask aunty to give us some from her delicacies. They were South Indians (Tamils) and always had great home made achaar(Pickles) (mostly from tomatoes, or those green chillies - which we loved). As during school days it wasnt always possible to go to his place for lunch, we waited for these special days.

I find it amazing that some people are born on Feb 29 because their real birthday just happens every 4 yrs.A classmate of my sister was born on Feb 29,1984.On years that aren't leap years, she'd celebrate her birthday on March 1.If I was born on Feb 29,I'd do the same thing as she does.My birthday is on July 27.Happy mylotting! :)

I was blessed to have known one of the wiseest men at my church who was born 2/29/1936. Sadly, he passed away Thirteen months ago and still miss him. Whenever the 29th came, he'd get dressed up and our late pastor would always recognize him. It got so, we would show love and remember. I remember when we got really disappointed over the 2004 elections He said to simply let it go. When Obama got elected in '08, I said "You was right" he said, "I told you". He was good peoples.

I know someone who was originally born on February 29. His parents moved his birthday to Feb 28. This means he will be forever one day younger. Kinda weird if you think about it but it really makes no sense since it's only a date.

Here too some changed it to first of march or 28th of February by filing an affidavit in court at the time of admission

No, I don't remember any of my friends or knew anyone who is born on leap year. Well, I guess those who are born on the 29th of Feb. are lucky because they don't age faster like us who are born on the regular month. Kidding aside, like what you have said they do celebrate their birthday on Mar. 1st and on the 29th when it's leap year. I was born on the month of June, zodiac sign Cancer.

I don't know anyone who was born on 29th February, but I hear that some of them celebrate it one day before or after that day. I know it's kind of a source of humour as one can say like they are only 8 years old when they are 32 because they have birthday only every 4 years.

prof, good to hear about this news, there is nothing wrong in celebrating the b'day in March 1, since we are in need to wait for another 4 more years to get Feb 29 again, hope most of the persons who have b'day i Feb 29 will celebrate their birthday in March first

I knew a person once who had a birthday on February 29th. It kind of stank because he only got to celebrate his birthday once every four years. Usually, he would celebrate their birthday at Midnight between the February 28th and March 1st.

Better to celebrate on March first lol

I suppose someone would celebrate their birthday then on the 28th or March 1st depending on what day they grew up celebrating their birthday on. I don't know anyone who is born on Feb 29.

hello Professor... i have no friends or relatives who were born on Feb.29 but if my birthday were to fall on the 29th of February i would happily celebrate it on leap years but on ordinary years i would also be happy to celebrate it on the 28th or on the first day of March so there would be no problem at all in the calculation of my age.
