I usually get scolded at home when i take showers past midnight because i do it almost every night. They say there it could bring some harmful effects to our body and could give us back pains at a young age. When i was scolded for showering very late i said that so far there had been no bad effects to my healh and body and i also don't feel any pain whatsoever. She said currently that i wont be able to feel the bad effects to my body but when i get older i would feel all its bad effects.
I know our parents have lots of experiences and they have wisdom and they just wamt whats best for their children. But i don't quite get it what bad effects could having late showers bring us.
What do you think about this?
Do you think its bad taking cold showers past midnight?
Thanks for sharing guys.

It's probably okay. I recently took a shower at 3pm, I'm having bad days of back pain after exercising all the sudden, it felt good and streched a little bit cause I wake up in a living hell for sleeping probably in an awkward position for 6 hours.
But I don't like, it's dark and silent. And I watched way too many horror movies already and the mind wonder.

I have never heard this. Of course that doesn't prove anything. But I am trying to justify this with what I do know about he body's temp. and good sleep. Maybe this is nothing more than someone who is awakened by you running the shower late at night? Look on the Internet there is all kinds of facts there.

Hello! I think your parents is right only they could explain you why. As i read in a health book the best sleep time i between 10pm to 4am in the morning. So if you get to shower past midnight maybe you are too late already to rest in bed, in which in this very hour there are parts in our body needs rest already. So may be this is the cause why you are scolded of what you are doing.

Hi Cyclopz,
I do this almost every night too specially during summer, like now. Since the beginning of March it's been so humid that I can't go to bed without taking cold shower. My mother has also given me some lecture on this when I was younger, but while I wanted to believe her, I just couldn't resist having cold shower before bedtime. I have yet to see if the effects (like the olds say) are true.

I think you can take a bath anytime you want as long as you are healthy, it's bad cause at night it is cold especially when you have poor health. I think another myth in our country that comes with taking a shower at night is if you sleep with wet hair then you might get blurred vision or go blind

I never heard anything like that. Only heard that it improves blood circulation.
I would only take cold shower in the morning to make me fresh and wake me up, in the evening I would prefer some warm water. But if you have no problems sleeping after a cold shower, it seems fine, I never heard that it could cause any harm.

Sounds cold and possible painful to me. I would never take a cold shower past midnight. Sure, you can take a shower past midnight, but not a cold one.

I don't think there would be much of an effect unless it makes our muscles tense while at night they are relaxed. Though I believe at night our muscles our only relaxed if we are sleeping. I suppose we all have our wives tales and superstitions. Here it's not to eat after 9 pm.

First off I think cold showers is sort of dumb. A nice warm one to relax whould be so much nicer. And why it could give back pains at an early age is beyond me. I think any extreme is wrong. Like real cold or real hot.

That is so stupid! Cold showers don't hurt a person at all! Sounds like what you have heard is a bunch of crap! Don't believe everything you hear! Wether is has to do with cold showers or anything else! Don't believe everything you hear! Most of the time things aren't true!

I get this from my mother as well. It's not the time that bothers her, as such, but rather the fact that I will likely go to bed with my hair still wet. This of course means sleeping with damp, cold hair about my head and neck and could make the bed damp and cold which can be bad for joints and give you a headache. As to how much truth this holds I can not be certain.

This is just another lame belief of the older people. I had been taking a mid-night shower lately. It really has a calming effect on our body. I do believe that it also helps us to promote a good night sleep.

What I've heard about cold showers at night is that it's a good treatment for insomnia...
Is either one of your parents a doctor? If not, I'd consult with one. You can't trust your parents on whatever they say just because.

Ya basically our parents will scold if we do showers at mid night.Because temperature gets down in midnight. And in that case if we do showers means, our body temperature will get down. Then we may get cold or something. So better to take showers before midnight.
