I didn't believe aroma therapy did anything for us period, for the longest time. Then someone explained it to me. That was enough to convince me. The smell of Thanks Giving Dinner. The smell of horses. The smell of a feed bin. The smell of chlorine. I know have a list. All of these smells bring me back to my happiest days of my childhood. I loved riding and training horses, swimming at the pool, and a feast that could swiftly lead you to sleep. Once I brought my children to my old elementary school for a function open to the public. I couldn't believe the memories that came back when I smelled the same old smells that were there 15 years prior! OK I'm sold. But the "aromas" sold don't match up with any of my memories. Pumpkin Pie scented candles will kind of. So will the apple pie smell. That's about it! I don't like a food smell in my bathroom and to much pine scent is just to much. How about you? Do you like to "smell stuff" to create a "mood"?

I've been reading about what affects our well being and there are some pretty irresponsible statements out there. Scents and music are the only products that I would ever recommend to help with anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, etc. However everything I make and use is for trial basis only!

Yes I most certainly do, there is alot of truth to aroma therapy. I have witnessed it with my very own nose. I think the fact that whenever i can smell the soft scent of lavendar it is calming and actually does help me to fall asleep for instance. Then there's peppermint, the only scent I can take when I have a migraine and it actually can help make a migraine disappear. Then baby powder for some reason helps me sleep also. It is alot of truth to the fact aroma therapy is there for us and can help us with some things in our lives that might be annoying or even troubling.

Yes, I love to smell wood smoke from a fire. It takes me back to my childhood, when things were simpler. The house across the alley from me has a wood burning stove and sometimes I can catch the smell on the breeze. It always calms me, yet it's invigorating in a way.
Another smell is that of freshly mowed lawn because it reminds me of the hayfields where I use to play and work. It's a wonderful smell, full of dreams and to this day sets me to daydreaming about what could be.

Most definitely, as long as the smell isn't TOO strong and overpowering. I do like Glade plug ins, but I HATE HATE HATE how Lysol smells - GROSS!!!! I like there to be a hint of a scent, not a scent that hits you in the face. You know what I mean? I definitely agree that it adds to the mood.

Lysol is not allowed in my home! Yuck! Leave it in the hospitals. I love the scent of a perfume, not the smell. I spray it in the air and walk through it. It's the only way I'll wear it. Why make people suffer? I hate grape bubble gum, especially on an elevator! Now THAT "hits me in the face".

When I did craft sales with my daughter she always made sure to have a cinnamon smell in our booth....supposedly it makes people spend money...another homey smell I assume...I do know that certain smell evoke memories...cologne....things like that. I love the smell of fresh baked cookies...and also the smell of coffee reminds me of my mother....her breath always smelled like coffee...I however do not like the smell of pine...it gives me a headache.

I don't like "made" scents in aroma oils, like cookie or apple pie, though it's true that scents can bring back memories better than anything.
I like those aromas that I already know: flowers that grow in the area where I live, fruits that I already tasted... There are essential oils that really have an affect on my mood, like orange or lemon can make me feel more fresh, or jasmine more relaxed.

I believe in aroma therapy but I am picky when it comes to smell. It thus help calm us when we smell pleasing aroma. But each one of us has his/her own perfect scent to calm his/her senses. Most of the time it goes with the ambiance thus the creation of scented candle. I do like the smell of fresh grass, it is a breath of fresh air. It felt like home and carefree. We do associate smell with something, so I think it is possible to be soothe with the smell we like.
